If you stay here don’t expect any sleep, loud music until the early hours the trucks loading up from 2pm and it doesn’t stop. Avoid at all cost. The night staff are more than useless and really don’t give a dam.
The noise from the conference hall is unbearable. Still blaring at 1.30 in the morning. If your coming here to party and celebrate it may be great but if you are planning on getting ANY sleep prior to a business day then forget it
In the past I have had good experiences with the Hilton chain of hotels so was expecting a decent room and good service. However, upon arriving at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, my young daughter and I were met with an enormous queue for check-in. I asked a staff member whether I still needed to queue even though I had checked-in online and I was told that as I didn't have a room key I still had to queue. I stood in the queue for 40 minutes and upon arriving at the reception desk was told that I should have gone straight to the Priority check-in as I had already checked-in online. Hmmmmmm. Room was very average and bathroom smelled fusty, as if it had not been aired or used for some time. I had purposefully chosen a room at the end of a corridor on the top floor in the hope that it would be quiet but alas it was as if I had been transported to Piccadilly Circus with doors banging and loud conversations taking place in the corridor until midnight. Lastly I was overcharged in the restaurant for food that I did not order and so having thought I had sorted it out at the time, had to go over the whole issue again at check-out, when after a lengthy wait, my bill was adjusted.
Stayed here for an event at the NEC. The hotel was very busy but the staff were wonderful - special thanks to the concierge desk for asking the lovely Keith to come back for us when we missed the complimentary shuttle to the train station - the room was clean, breakfast great and the excellent pool an added bonus. Will definitely stay again.
Firstly all the staff were lovely however.. We qued for 50 minutes to check in! The room was tiny and the facilities in the room were minimal, no fridge for example. The bathroom is dated and again tiny! The not very hot breakfast buffet was also terrible. Stay somewhere else
We spent a weekend in an Executive room while attending a functin at NEC. Most impressed with services offered in the Executive Lounge. The friendliness of all the staff was very welcome - bar and restaurant staff, concierge and check-in were smiling and welcoming.
On our recent trip to the Hilton, we were very disappointed on arrival with check-in. There were two members of efficient staff working extremely hard, dealing with the customers in the line. One of these two members of staff was designated to the priority check-in, therefore, leaving one member of staff to deal with the 23 customers in the queue. Several customers where disappointed with this and had experienced this numerous times at this same hotel. The main areas of the hotel are clean and nice, however, our room was dated.
Just checked out room 4078. Very poor from start to finish. Arrived to dirty breakfast trays outside room. Called down for a hairdryer than never arrived. 1 Coffee machine broken at breakfast. Asked for milk for my 6 year old as none on table which never appeared. Asked at checkout how our stay was and gave feedback. No sorry, just thanks for your feedback and gave me the bill. Absolutely appalling.
We visited the Hilton Metropole for a charity ball last Saturday and had a great start to the evening, the food was really good considering how many people that they had to cater for and the staff really lovely. After dinner we eventually left the function room and sat in the main bar, we then ordered some baileys. My friend decided to buy the bottle... we were told we had to pay for it by the shot! This made the bottle over £120 which I told them was outrageous, we then left.
We had a lovely weekend with my family. Amazing breakfast with lovely service. I made a mistake with my booking, however, the front office shift leader managed to rectify my mistake before we arrived. His name is Abel Tanase. Thanks again.
