DO NOT PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO STAY HERE! We paid for a standard room for 1 night - the room(s) were honestly awful! The first room we were given was tiny, dark and dingy, ripped carpets, and it stank of cigarettes. The smell was overbearing so we asked to be moved. The 2nd room did not smell of cigarettes, but instead there was poo stains all in the toilet!! The room was also tiny, outdated, and battered - not what you would expect for a Hilton hotel. Due to the dirty toilet, I then went back down to reception (because both rooms had broken telephones) and put in a complaint. The man on reception was very rude and unhelpful and it was only when I asked to speak to his manager that he decided to ‘upgrade’ us to a newer room. The 3rd room was clean (no smoke or poo thankfully!) so we were satisfied, but it still isn’t a hotel I would ever waste the money on again. Premier Inns are much nicer.
Stayed here for one night before flying to Spain upon a park & fly rate; which was priced reasonably enough & pretty much the going rate, but after the horrendous experience I endured here, it soon became to be considered a right royal rip off & I won’t be returning. The hotel is in a poor state of disrepair; it’s dated, old fashioned, tired & worn; thread bare & stained carpets, chipped paint work, torn wallpaper & overall very below parr. Please note; there is no direct shuttle-bus service to the airport; it’s a prolonged, laborious multi-exchange process from Hotel to shuttle bus, to the airports mono-rail; so if you’re travelling with lots of luggage or children or more senior & less able bodied Companions, it’s a major unnecessary & unwanted hassle & should be avoided. However, despite the actual facilities being dire straits, I must highly commend Concierge, Franco whom was charm personified & provided the most incredibly helpful & attentive service ever, whereby absolutely nothing was too much trouble for him & he went over & above the call of duty to assist me with parking, luggage & directions; thank you again Franco your service & attitude truly was first class. Xx
A huge hotel that was full to capacity during our stay. Staff at breakfast extremely attentive and helpful, good selection of food, so all good. Hotel gym no large enough for a hotel with this capacity, even early in the morning it gets very busy. The service at bar could be better, unusual for staff not to make eye contact and to realise who is waiting to be served, do appreciate the hotel was busy. Overall well located and a good hotel.
Stayed here one night as we were seeing A band at the genting arena and this hotel is really close, walking distance infact. Upon arrival we were impressed by the look as it was stunning. A party of 6, all couples, we booked all 3 rooms together and requested our rooms close. As we all checked in we realised they we all separated but the receptionist soon rectified this for us and put us all together, abit dissapointed as I had to ask as this was clear in the booking 2months ago when we booked. Our rooms were clean and view was nice, no problems at all with the room. Great that it had tea/coffee facilities too. We went for a drink at the bar before we started our night out, area was nice with lovely Christmas decorations, the only small issue was the drinks were quite expensive, I suppose with a hotel like it was it was to be expected a little. Had a great nights sleep and room was really warm. One small issue- I called for room service Sunday morning for a cold drink and there was a £5 service charge, I thought this was quite steep. 2 bottles of Coke ended up costing me £11.20! Overall we enjoyed our stay and would probably stay again.
Dirty linen, didn't look like it had been changed since the last visitor. Used hanky by side of bed. Hairs in corner of bathroom. Complained and took nearly two hours for someone to come and look/clean. Smell of sewerage coming up from the toilet bowl. All in all, very expensive night in a horrible hotel. We would never stay here again and would advise anyone else to avoid at all costs. the staff were very rude and unhelpful
stayed in this hotel for ist time on arrival we parked very easy has they have 3 big carparks and when we went to reception we were greeted by a massive reception and lounge bright clean and very airey the reception had 4 staff on duty so didn't have long to book in we had a twin room on 1st floor which was spotless and air conditioned and had anything you would require we had a meal downstairs which was hot and not overly priced bearing in mine a top hotel and it was exceptionanly busy with a big teachers union meeting and a big wedding yet the atmosphere was just right as you could talk easy without shouting and the staff was excelliant the wifi downstairs was ok but upstairs was quite slow you are very near the nec and resort world only a few mins walk either way this hotel I would definatley recommend either a short weekend break as I was on or longer the only downside was the beds are comfy but hard which if you like hard mattresses you will be ok
Arrived late to my room due to travel and work commitments. Had eaten previously so just wanted a drink - no water in the room so phoned for room service - £6 for a 1l bottle of water and £5 room service charge = £11 for a bottle of water!!! Eye watering rip off pricing and the only hotel chain I've stayed in recently where there is no complimentary water in the room. Ive had over 50 hotel business and leisure nights away this year and I now remember why I rarely choose the Hilton brand. The room was no better than basic and on the small side, the TV was poor and not up to date, the shower curtain had a musty smell. There are better hotels than this so I won't be back here and wouldn't recommend this at all.
Ok - so this is the largest hotel outside of London - bear that in mind. With that comes the joy of a lot of people attending various conferences/conventions etc. At the time I was there it managed to cater for at least 4 different parties of such variety - great fun if you are a people watcher. Caveat I was lucky enough to be on the fifth floor - so I know I had a better offer than some of my colleagues in other rooms. That said - the Executive lounge is not bad at all. It has been recently [well '90s] refurbished and there are free canapes/alcohol between 18.00 - 20.00. People did gather at those times but were not what I would term 'grabby'. Canapes were nicely served and there were a choice of at least four. Service ++ Excellent. I was with a 'gay' convention and there were absolutely no issues whatsover with the staff - either all had been extremely well versed or Birmingham is a hotbed of PC ness (!) Have to congratulate here. Room service was efficient, staff acknowledged you in the corridors and asked if it was ok to get in the lift with you. Wellness suite - same thing - very polite and helpful. Room + Have to give it a plus because the suite was spacious and clean. There was aTchibo coffee machine, fridge with two large bottles of Hildon water one sparkling/one still. Toiletries in abundance produced by 'Duck Island' which were pretty good quality. Shower gel, shampoo, body lotion, plus massage 'stuff', cotton buds, sewing kit etc etc. lots of sparkly white towels of different sizes and a kettle/good selection of teas/shortbread biscuits [mini] hidden under the tv area. i had problems with the air con and the tv remote but that could be because i was not entirely sober for the duration of my stay ... ahem. Food - Sorry people - this is where I have to mark you down. would have been a four otherwise. Not sure about the general hygiene of the place probably because it is so huge. Difficult to manage all aspects despite best efforts. Convention food had to be the blandest yet - i know you are catering for all needs but please not quite so plasticky? as for breakfast, agree re fabulous variety but again, not sure about key elements - there were people trying to keep it clean but there was a big demand on a small space which meant that some attention to detail was lost eg what was happening to serving spoons. a couple of people had dodgy tummies who were not drinkers which can only be down to what they ate - they were not together so had different things. If I could change one area it would be the size of the breakfast area - it's just too small. Wellness area Clean, lovely steam/small sauna areas. One of my colleagues was moaning that their gym club was better because of more room/hotter amenities - come on - pool was great, nice jacuzzi decent changing areas plus easy use - they give you a padlock with a key on a wristband so no problems with lockers etc Value for money Agree with someone else who said drinks were pricey - i paid £17 for a double baileys and double courvoisier - some may think that's ok. I don't think people come here to 'skimp' though judging by some of the bill bars I saw. I do think the higher up the scale the better the quality of what you get. General yes definitely perfect for big parties / business. Less so for an average family because there is so much going on and it's such a huge hotel. Sure parts of it are a little outdated [built in 70s] but I quite liked that - a throwback kinda retro feel. ....
Because of the Hilton name I had high expectations when visiting here but it is sadly dated both inside and out. A lot of effort has been put in to the ground floor to look more Morden but once you leave this area to the bedrooms the dated look returns. The rooms are spacious and comfortable but again have a very dated look to both the room and the bathroom. The rooms have interesting lighting in that there isn’t a main light so at this time of year with the nights getting dark early the room is quickly gloomy, there is mood lighting around the room which just means that you get one brightly lit corner. The corridors are also very gloomy. The gym and swimming pool are really good with plenty of options in the gym for cardio and weights. The breakfast is very nice with plenty of options, all self service.
Worst hotel I've ever stayed at am I'm a Hilton honours member. If this is how the Hilton chain treats guests I'll never steal at a Hilton hotel again Never stay here if you have a choice Room was meant to be Deluxe double but given standard twin still charged the extra Food was barely edible breakfast was disputing and had to resort to room service as Resturant was horrible food ordered fine Australian merlot at £29 given cheap chillian merlot and still charged for premium price contacted room service told it was the same thing and then they hung up on me WTF
