just stayed for one night, but it was very good, couldnt fault the staff, the cleanliness of the public areas, the rooms were all of a good size and very comfortable.we paid around £80 for one night but included in the price was car parking for two weeks, good value for money i think.
We had booked a park and stay deal via Purple Parking at a good rate. We have stayed at this hotel before so had a good idea of the facilities when making our booking. Upon arrival I presented the desk staff with our booking confirmation but despite several members of staff checking, no booking was recorded with the hotel so not a great start to our holiday. The desk staff offered us a complimentary drink and to store our luggage whilst they sorted out the issue with Purple Parking. After about 15 minutes, the gentleman managing the issue (Amo Singh) came to inform us that the issue had been resolved and that we could check into our room when we were ready. Well managed situation as I was clearly concerned that the booking had not been passed on from Purple Parking who we had booked with. Once we got to our room we found it to be comfortable, clean and relatively quiet for a hotel generally used by holiday makers, business people and exhibitors at the nearby exhibition centre. Finally our holiday was off and running!! For dinner, we used the Resorts World facility which is next door to the hotel and has plenty of choice to suit most dietary needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel especially if you are travelling to and from the nearby airport or visiting the NEC or Arena. Particular note should be given to Amo Singh who managed an awkward situation well.
The staff were an excellent example of a team pulling together and providing a seamless service - the food was excellent too! However in terms of disability access the room which was designated as accessible, was appalling. The bathroom had what they called an adapted toilet but it was just an ordinary toilet with some handles nearby and red panic pull cords. There was a shower within a bath so forget trying to wash yourself. If I had been in a wheelchair there is no way I could have got between the bed and the wall, nor past the end of the bed and no hoist to assist getting in and out of bed etc etc.
This hotel is well positioned if you are visiting the NEC. There is a really easy and enjoyable 10 minute walk from the hotel, around the lake to the Centre. Food is good and not over expensive. The staff are exceptionally friendly, special mention has to go to Muhammed in the main restaurant for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our room was comfortable and clean with nice touches like free bottles of water and other little gifts. HOWEVER - do be super careful that you don't book a room overlooking the delivery area of the hotel. We were in room 100 and each morning were woken up at silly o'clock by lorries reversing into the loading bay. Also when we arrived home and I checked our booking I saw that we were promised a mini fridge and toweling robes - neither of which we had. To be fair we didn't need either of these so it wasn't problem!
Had a room here, but on learning they were randomly cancelling rooms without notice (all made via booking.com) checked on my own booking. It was important it was a twin room, as stated on the booking made several months previous. A very RUDE receptionist said this was not guaranteed and refused to offer this option since it was a booking.com booking. Was most unaccommodating. I cancelled my own booking and am staying elsewhere. I am shocked at such a tawdry attitude from a 4 star hotel! A friend has had her own booking randomly cancelled. this was made 7 months previous. The hotel claimed it was overbooked. Shocking behaviour!
Stayed here when visiting exhibition at NEC. Location and ease of access ideal but the property is pretty soulless and just does what it says on the tin really. Bedrooms URGENTLY need updating. Beds are very uncomfortable as are the pillows. The rooms are very brown and dated but do come with what you'd expect, i.e. Power showers I. Bathroom, ok towels and toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities in room again ok but only English Breakfast tea, no Earl Grey or Fruit options and only one biscuit on the tray. Do we break it in half? The nice touch is the aromatherapy pillow sprays and sleep advice. Dinner, nothing exceptional served by a lovely waitress. We got the impression that a lot of the food is bought in as she couldn't guarantee nut free and there was nothing marked as GF which one of our party needed. Breakfast is very self service with no information given as to how it worked. We stay in lots of hotels but if you don't, you could sit at your table waiting to be served and be there all day as no one talks to you! Food and presentation good. All in all, as I said above the Crowne Plaza does what it says on the tin but should improve in many areas for what they charge. There is huge competition now from the Genting Hotel and restaurants in Resorts World next door, so hopefully they will take this on board and improve rooms and service. Also it would be nice to be acknowledged by housekeeping and breakfast staff as they simply look through you. We will try the Genting on our next trip to the NEC.
We stayed here because we were catching a coach outside to go to Newcastle to join a cruise ship. The reception was excellent both efficient and friendly. The room was very comfortable with extra touches like snacks to go with the tea/coffee/chocolate and bottled water. The restaurant did not open on the Sunday evening we stayed so we ordered a meal in the lounge bar. The service was excellent but the meal unfortunately was poor. I ordered a sandwich which came with some crisps but the bread was quite stale and inedible. I would not recommend eating here though our overall stay was excellent and we would stay here again, but eat elsewhere.
The hotel is situated close to the airport and next to a casino and an outlet mall. The rooms are nice and big. The fitness center is a joke with 2 treadmills, but if the weather is nice you can go for a run around the pond. The staff are not very friendly and very noisy. They tried to charge me extra.
Stayed here due to an early flight the following morning. Big hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms were wonderful, very clean and welcoming. I absolutely loved the "This Works" duo on each bed, very nice touch. Wonderfully comfy beds. I'm looking forward to returning.
This hotel is very handy for Birmingham airport which is just a few minutes away by car or taxi. We did the park and fly package with a three course dinner included, this is a brilliant deal, very reasonably priced and you leave your car at the hotel. We used this hotel a few years ago and it's quality service is still as good as it was before. The rooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained, nothing really fancy but very comfortable and accommodating. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room too. The staff here are very pleasant, cheerful and helpful. We enjoyed the meal very much, tasty, well cooked and nicely presented. We would definitely use this hotel next time we fly from Birmingham airport.
