This was our first time staying at the Clayton and sadly will be our last. The hotel overall is lovely as you would expect, but the room wasn't what we expected. We stayed in an executive room (which we do at many other hotels) there was very little in the way of executive perks. The room was standard and a little dusty in places. The toilet wasn't very clean and there was hair on the floor which was very unwelcoming. The kettle had seen better days and the room refreshment choices were poor. No robes, wash cloths and the toilet paper was very thin (I will leave the rest to your imagination)
We had recieved an email about having a late checkout for £10 and another email saying £20!? We had clicked to checkout at 1pm which we were told via email was accepted. Only to then speak to reception who informed me "late checkout cannot be done in advance but in the morning of checking out" If that's the case why send an email? I ended up paying £30 for a 2pm checkout, again this is something I've never had to do at other hotels that offer executive rooms and services.
We had house keeping knocking our door on 2 occasions to ask if we were leaving so they can come clean.
There was very limited room service options and there was no option for in-room breakfast, which would have been lovely.
We opted for the breakfast option with our 3 night stay and even though it wasn't the worst, it definitely wasnt the best!
I wouldnt recommend the cooked breakfast
