This hotel accommodated my me and my husband for a military event. They were able to get us a great room at a good price during hurricane Irma. It's right by the river, and within walking distance to downtown Augusta. The only negative is they need more luggage carts.
Our family evacuated from Tampa during Hurricane Irma this week and stayed here for one night. The rooms were not clean, shower had black mold growing, and the air conditioner wasn't working properly. Happy to have had a place to stay, but I would recommend their cleaning staff be better trained. On a positive note, Augustino's restaurant was good, and we had a nice server.
Most of the staff were very nice but some issues came up. My stay was short and for work on the weekend. I am a Gold member of the Marriott rewards program and I was offered an upgrade only when I asked for it. The view was beautiful of the Savannah river. Everything was great until Saturday night. When I asked a question about my rewards and if I earned points on dining at the hotel and I was told no then it was maybe, then I was told I don't know. The person at the front desk should learn more about the rewards program. Also, the hotel restaurant service was the worse. I was waiting for over 6 minutes and no one offered to get me a table. When I was told the restaurant was out of the item I wanted from the specials. I got up to leave and they had an attitude when I said to the staff that they shouldn't have a sign in public that it was on special. The manager on duty wasn't effective in dealing with the situation at best. He wasn't even the restaurant manager. He didn't even offer anything but " There are other restaurants out of the hotel" I was very disappointed and I may not stay here again because of this. The hotel needs to be updated but it is not too bad.
As a platinum members who travel and have stayed in all Marriott's from Fairfield, Courtyard to Autograph Collections. This is the worst Marriott we have ever stayed in. Besides the smell of mildew throughout the entire facility the room was dirty and extremely outdated. The bathroom floor actually had mold.!!! We even cancelled our 2nd night stay. Sorry Marriott I love ya but this one is as a disaster. Headed to a different Marriott.
When I reserved my room through a third party it didn't specify bed type. I called their local number on my confirmation and a woman confirmed me a king bed over the phone. I arrived 6 pm on a Monday (not super late) and they were all out of king beds?!?! Hardball ensued... I lost. The Hotel: located right on the Savannah river (great location)! We entered a beautiful lobby and I was looking forward to my stay. I was told we were in the other building were the suites were located (sweet). After trying to park my SUV in a parking garage build for Prius's I finally made it to my room. First impression was a smell of a moldy basement hit me in the face when opening room door. I just finished arguing with front desk about my wrong bed, so at this point I'm gonna suck it up and not let a hotel ruin my trip. Hit broad street with the wife and get back to hotel to relax and watch TV. TV had no signal... we are in PJs and don't want people in our room. Let's try Netflix on the iPad... WIFI WOULDN'T WORK! Seriously?!?!. Lastly the bed skirts were very gross and dirty as well as very rough /outdated bathroom (that side have nice new granite counters). I stay in Marriott affiliated hotels all the time. This was the worst room ever.
This Hotel and Convention Center is very nice and clean. The employees are extremely nice and it's right on the water. If you are in need of a place to hold an event you might want to consider this center.
Whether you are looking for a getaway for you and your special someone OR you're looking for a venue for a meeting, the Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center in Augusta, GA is the place. Augusta is where James Brown grew up. Augusta is the home of PAINE COLLEGE. This Marriott has all the amenities that you expect and a few extras. It is also Marriott Hotel and Marriott Suites. The hotel staff from bellman back to the bellman strive for your stay to be unencumbered. They did that and I thank you!!
My room was smelly with strong musty stale odor. I even had housekeeping staff to come in and spray room. Also floor was very dirty. Check in staff nice....Stephanie real friendly. Need to thoroughly clean my room
So quaint great decor, clean and an amazing roof top patio great view of downtown Augusta. Historic charm but completely updated amenities. So nice and cozy in the middle of a neighborhood. Valet parking Great staff with southern charm. This will be my place every time I am in Augusta.
Loved the regular king room--super comfortable bed, and super comfortable pillows which I find to be a rarity at most hotels. Nice bathroom, good lighting. Very clean, and really liked the hardwood floor. Great, very large, TV. Walking distance to Broad, so lots of restaurants close by. Riverwalk is right out the door. Staff was very accommodating, special thanks to Bernard in Security who located a wayward sweater.
