It was a case of the old "bait and switch". I booked a falls view room on the 15th floor , the pictures showed large windows and a beautiful view. When I checked in I was told the room wasn't ready and shown a picture of a very small window. To get a room that was ready and had the windows I wanted I would have to upgrade to the tune of $250 per night. It was our anniversary and my wife was expecting the view I showed her, I was screwed. Very unscrupulous practice bordering on illegal. I was not happy. Other than that it was great.

Room was great. Overlooking the falls and clean. And quiet. However they don't seem completely honest on pricey and nickel and dime you. We were offered an upgrade because apparently there were 15 others waiting for same room. We were told $100 for upgrade. It was $140. Self parking was "70 Canadian dollars". Ended up being 70 American dollars which is more. Staff seemed overall very passive aggressive like we were bothering them.

Great room size and location (room 1906). Excellent view of falls and fireworks. However, during check-in, the representative tried to upsell us. Told us we had a small window and limited views, which conflicted with the online room description. Offered us a “special rate” of $200/nt to upgrade. We noticed other guests received the same pitch. We declined, and were given our room keys and no further information about the hotel including the breakfast service. We arrived in our room to find we had floor to ceiling windows with perfect views of the falls. Very taken aback by the timeshare-like pressure to upgrade, for a fee, based on misleading information. We inquired about drinking water and were told there were no filling stations. We could purchase water on each floor at the ice station. The next morning we waited in line for breakfast. Saw pictures of beautiful made-to-order meals. However, the buffet offered no such options. The food was institutional quality, featuring powdered eggs, pre toasted white bread, greasy sausage links, and other similar items. Plenty of food, but the only non-processed options were apples and unripe oranges. We asked a server about the discrepancy between the buffet and the pictures on the monitors in the lobby and were told they changed their breakfast location and service last year but hadn’t yet updated their images.
