I traveled to the town for a business meeting, and planned to stay in the hotel for a couple of days. However, one of the female receptionist was very rude and didn’t take any initiative to help the customer solve any problems... I was very disappointed and moved to another hotel with just staying there for one day!!
The 5 stars are solely be given to the receptionist who helped us throughout the stay. There was some problem with the reservation and seems that the online broker forgot to put through our booking for one of our rooms, although we have paid online already. They helped us to contact the broker, even after we left the property. The receptionist is super polite and reassured us we could stay in the hotel that night. The room is not bad but the only downside is the restaurant - the meal was kinda overpriced.
The hotel and grounds are fabulous but the service level is absolutely terrible. Waited at the bar.. tables outside were not cleaned for hours... the food was very low quality. Overall ok to stay but wouldn't come again for the price and a 4 star rating.
We were booked into The Stratford by our kids to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary ( honeymoon was a week in Stratford many years ago!!) Hotel is in a perfect central location - parked the car and didn't use it again until we checked out.good buffet breakfast although some extras are charged e.g.: smoked salmon& scrambled egg. Also restaurant very busy with a Bridge weekend so regular guests seated at overspill tables in the foyer area - noise levels in restaurant pretty high both mornings. Fabulous room ( a junior suite ) - didn't eat at the hotel either evening as so much choice in town - easy walk all around the centre and down to river. Also recommend Saturday market - really friendly stall holders and some good vintage buys
Stay away from home A LOT....never normally leave a review....unless....really good....or really bad. Therefore as you’ve guessed from my rating this was bad. Hotel looked nice...room was OK. Downhill from there. Service was AWFUL. Waited 15 minutes for a drink on 1st night. Decided to eat out based on that. 2nd night decided on room service. Ordered it at 7pm. Eventually after 3 hours and several phone calls I had to get dressed go downstairs and order again. No apology, in fact quite rude. At least I got fed. My colleagues room service didn’t turn up at all. On check out I made my feelings clear I wasn’t happy. They were completely ignored. In fact he said absolutely nothing. I mean NOTHING. Very bizarre. Won’t be back.
This was my third stay at the Stratford and I am afraid it will be my last. Rooms are good with everything you could possibly want, but are a bit crowded. The breakfast was a different matter with disinterested staff and strange discrepancies - croissants available one day but not the next etc. However, the main problem is distance from the theatre - in future I will be staying at the Swans Next (my favourite Stratford hotel) or the Grosvenor. Sorry!
We stayed on a special overnight spa break deal. Our room was ready on our arrival and it was very nice and clean , iron and board . Tea coffee making facilities. I did notice quite a few cobwebs around the top of the curtains and fluff under the bed and you can see under the bed when sitting on the easy chairs. Lunch was part of the deal which was really nice. Lovely spa treatments. Evening meal included which was very good. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. One thing when having an overnight stay sleep quality is I think the most important part. Well not this time I’m afraid to say, we had probably the most uncomfortable nights sleep the mattress was truly awful. You rolled into the middle and you could easily have rolled off the edge, it felt like it was past it’s sell by. And I rubbed the palm of my hand across it and you could feel the springs!!! Terrible terrible nights sleep and believe me my husband could sleep on a washing line and he complained bitterly during the night. At breakfast all the hot food at the buffet bar was barely lukewarm nice choice of everything but you have to get this food hotter. I’m not sure we would stay again purely down to the bad nights sleep.
This is a very comfortable hotel close to the centre of Stratford. We had a twin bedded room. The beds were a good size and very comfortable. Plenty of storage space. This is a very corporate hotel and this is reflected in the prices of their food and drink. I paid £15.50 for a burger and quite honestly I would have preferred a McDonalds. Wine was £27 a bottle which is fine if you are on a course and can claim expenses. There are plenty of other places to eat about 10 minutes walk away and they are much cheaper and better quality. Breakfast was okay. Very very nice staff. I would certainly stay here again.
Attending a course at the Stratford hotel and with no preconceptions i drove to the hotel and was able to park, although the car park was very full. The general surroundings within the hotel were very pleasant and the staff directed me to where I needed to be without my needing to question specifically- they simply asked, “Can I help you?”. The room was laid out for a series of presentations and sparkling and still water ere supplied, although it would have been a nice touch if there had been cordials available. Break times provided the usual teas and coffee and biscuits although the coffee machines were quickly depleted. At lunch time, the soup was excellent and the Lasagne was tasty, with the staff very attentive clearing away the courses as they were finished and enquiring if all was ok. Overall I found the surroundings very pleasant and the food good, but a couple of points I made regarding the coffee and cordial should be taken on board.
I stayed her for two nights 20th & 21st April, six in our party. We booked three rooms, all at the same price, my room, 231, was a lot smaller than the other two rooms, but still the same price. We ate in the restaurant twice, due to mobility problems. The food is over cooked. One the first night, I ordered a tuna steak with my superfood salad and asked for it rare, which it wasn't, on the second night I ordered the chicken burger. It was so dry, I cut it in half, took the ingredients out of one half and at e them, I left the rest. I told the waiter that it was so dry, he just said, he would let the chef know, no offer of a refund, even though I left over half of my dinner. But the worst part is the cost of the drinks, £11.00 for a wine and soda. Also, there is 10% added to your bill for a service charge, we queried whether or not the staff received this direct. We were told that it depends on how much money the hotel has made, if it has made enough money that month, the staff are given a percentage. We asked what percentage, they couldn't tell us. We then requested another bill without the service charge and left a cash tip for the staff. It is in a good location, which is what you are paying for, the bar is nice, but the restaurant a little tired, and the rooms are very tired.
