Stayed here for 2 nights on visit to RSC to see the Scottish play. At checkin we were given a complimentary voucher for free drinks at the Bistro Pierre restaurant on site. The room was near the car park entrance (12) and was clean and a good size. We also had complimentary water provided on both days. We used the restaurant for dinner on the Sunday night using our voucher. Have written a separate report on this superb place. Also on return from the RSC on Saturday we popped into the Bear pub for a pint of Bear ale and a cider for my wife. It was a noisy evening there but we drank outside. The checkout experience also very pleasant. Great location for walking into the town. We will return for sure.
Recently stayed here on a 3 day DBB break. Was aware the hotel was under a period of refurbishment. We stayed in a recently renovated suite,(possibly upgraded on what we asked for) separate sitting room area, bathroom with bath and shower, and a large plush bedroom with large bed, wardrobes, safe and tea/coffee/water refreshments provided. Very good value for money, restaurant food was excellent from a set menu, an a la carte menu was also on offer. Workmen didn't start before 8a.m.so no early disturbance. Heating needed to come on earlier than 7pm, reception said the timers needed altering (maybe from GMT to BST) but it wasn't altered during our stay. Better communication needed between hotel and restaurant as our meals appeared on our bill even though we had pre-paid. Hotel location excellent for local attractions, city centre and river walks.
We were having a meeting at the Butterfly Farm, and needed to stay nearby overnight. We were delighted by our choice-couldn't be closer to the Butterfly Farm, and everything was excellent about the hotel. The evening meal in the bistro was particularly worth mentioning. Also the shower was exceptionally easy to operate and suitable for my disabled husband.
First the location, it's perfect easy walking distance to all the attractions. The staff are super polite and really helpful. Central booking had failed to email to confirm the registration, they knew this and apologised. We had been upgraded to one of their super new suites. It was beautiful with complimentary water, fruit and chocolates. A king-size bed, a dining area a cosy sitting area with heavy drapes to close out the wintery weather. A beautiful bathroom with a step in shower, free standing bath and a TV for those who liked to be entertained while soaking their cares away. Robes and slippers and the usual drinks and biscuits were also available. Our meals: evening meal and breakfast were served in the adjoining restaurant and when my husband complimented them on an item on his breakfast more was immediately supplied. The attention and friendliness of all concerned made our gift even more special.
What a difference refurbished rooms can make! We had a lovely stay at Macdonald Swans Nest . The room we had was beautiful , it has been tastefully decorated to a high standard with a stunning bathroom only wished we could have stayed longer. Many Thanks to Danny Taylor and his team for making our stay so welcoming they are a credit to this hotel
We stayed at the Hotel as part of a family trip away for the easter weekend and were blown away with the newly refurbished rooms compared to our previous visit. The bistro was wonderful and the pub was great for afternoon snacks and a very professional and polite reception team who couldn't do enough for us. We will be back!!
My husband and I have just returned from a wonderfully refreshing stay at this hotel. Our room was spacious, modern and nothing short of excellent. The decor was newly refurbished and the bathroom was clean with comfy soft towels and bathrobes. Our stay was all the better for the friendly and attentive staff, particularly Danny the Duty Manager who went the extra mile to make our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Not forgetting the amazing food at Le Pierre Bistrot where the staff were both professional and efficient. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing battery charging break -I'm sure we will return again.
I have stayed here many times but I was really disappointed last weekend. Standards have really dropped! Great location and the staff in the pub were lovely. However, receptionists was rude and the room was really dirty. Asked the cleaner to come back and have another go at the bathroom but it was still full of the last guests hair, revolting!! Also the the cover to the shower drain was loose. Fraying towels as well. Come to Stratford on a regular basis , paid a lot of money for 2 rooms, will I go to the Swans Nest again? Most probably not, no excuse for dirty rooms and rude staff!
We were so looking forward to our stay in Stratford upon Avon. As a birthday treat for my husband I booked the Swans Nest. After reading many reviews about this recently refurbished hotel I decided to pay for an executive suite at a cost of £138. Upon arrival we were met my a lovely lady who was very helpful and gave us a map of the town and talked through all places of historical interest. The receptionist gave us a card to put in the car for parking, we had already paid £5 but that only took us until that evening, the pass took us until we left. The keycard didn’t work to our room but was easily sorted. I hadn’t told my husband that I had booked a suite or in-fact how much I had spend on this room. I was gutted. The room was far from executive. Walls were scuffed and dirty. The bathroom needed some re grouting (nothing worse than black areas around the bath. ) I am sure I read that you received a bottle of something upon arrival. The blinds were dirty and had a rip in them. I was expecting more from the suite. A separate bath and shower would be expected not a pokey bath with shower. You can’t fault the location of this hotel,it’s only 5 minutes from everything. The receptionist had recommended The Bear for the best burger in town. The Bear was lovely, food great but people were desperate for your table and we felt rushed in eating and soon left after finishing our meal. £138 was room only and the hotel wanted to charge £20 per head for breakfast!!! The room was already very overpriced in my opinion. I wish I had paid £70 for a normal room, in fact many of the lower priced rooms had breakfast included! To summarise; great location, lovely staff, awful room not good value for money. Pictures on the website are not what you get in reality for an executive suite.
The hotel is straight forward and they have the bear pub and bistro Pierre which were both amazing ... however the real thing this hotel has is customer service. Danny couldn’t do enough for us with a beautiful room and a river view and booked us and tickets for the open top tour bus and plenty to do in Stratford. The room was clean and beautiful. What more could you ask
