Enjoyed our stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended. Not to far from where you want to go.

We stayed here for five nights during spring break. Although it is a bit far from downtown, the bus picks up right outside and runs very regularly. Although breakfast is not included, the kitchenette made it easy to prepare our own meals. The Chinese restaurant on premise is very good. There is a liquor store and nightclub attached to this property. As a result there is always a variety of individuals hanging around outside. There is also a fair amount of litter scattered about.

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel as my expectations for a Red Lion were not that high. We booked 2 rooms, each with double beds but had put in comments that a roll away would be great if available. When we checked in, learned they had upgraded one of our rooms to queen beds, which met our needs perfectly! The rooms were spacious and clean and the front desk folks friendly and helpful. The location, right next door to a liquor store, was a little concerning at first, but the hotel was quiet and there were absolutely no issues. The location made it very easy to catch our ferry in the am. Just wish they had complimentary breakfast on premises!

Lovely stay, close to downtown...free parking. Beds were nice comfy...pool was great. Wish it had a gym as well. Safe amd quiet tho our room faced pool.

The Red Lion is clean and quiet (though my neighbour was blasting classical music when I arrived), and while it is a bare-bones motel, is generally a good deal. There was a goof-up with my credit card -- haven't had a chance to check it was corrected -- but the staff is competent and friendly. I prefer them to the staff at the Sandman, where the staff seem tense and watch you like a hawk to see what time you leave the room. The downside is the location: next door to a peeler bar that attracts a variety of unsavory types, and it is a relatively long walk to pleasant places to eat or shop. If you're staying a short time, or if you're just looking for a place to sleep, the Red Lion is a good choice.

Somewhat convenient location. A little farther from the main part of town then I thought it would be. Room was clean, staff was nice, and the booking process was painless. Close to the bus line that goes downtown.

This place met my expectations as they were set pretty low. The location makes it convenient but it also means the people can be sketchy and the hotel is old. It feels its age.

Receptionists are helpful. They guide us how to save money for Vent taxi instead of taking 2 taxi. Taxi driver is friendly. It is small place to go but environment is so nice, people are friendly.

Very nice room with kitchenette. Granite counters. It was a 45 minute walk to downtown. Parking is expensive there. Great place for people who bring their bikes as it is on a bike path that goes downtown.

We were expecting a bit more from the Red Lion, this hotel is in serious need of updating. Room had furnishings that were clean but rather old and the bed was rock hard. For the price and as we were just there to sleep, it met our basic needs.

We should have brought our bikes! This hotel is located right next to the Galloping Goose bike trail. The trail runs right through the parking lot, so we saw bikes constantly going past. It would have been a great way to explore Victoria. The hotel itself was nice. They do not offer free breakfast, or breakfast at all, but they have free internet service in the lobby. I used it to find directions to the nearest grocery store. There was supposedly a pool in the hotel, but I didn't see signs for it. I didn't go looking for it either, so I don't know if it exists. There is only one elevator --its small and slow. The rooms were nice. We had a flat screen tv. There was a hairdryer in the room which is always a nice feature. The ice bucket was really old and gnarly. I could have used a plastic bag to cover it. The microwave in the room has a bright light that we had to cover with a towel in order to get any sleep. The windows open and it was very quiet--our rooom looked out onto the bike trail. Ask for one of those rooms because rooms that open onto the south side might get noisy. There is a dance club or bar on that side and people hang out in the parking lot late at night. Even though this hotel seems far from downtown, its probably better to book here if you are looking for a quiet room. The drive is not very far from the downtown sights, and we had no trouble finding parking. Also, the bus line runs along this street, so you could grab a bus. I hope this review helps. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, but I would bring my bike. Its so cool to have the trail RIGHT THERE!

Typical room. Remodeled bathroom, but the door stuck. The carpets need to be steam cleaned. There was no breakfast served which is usually included in the Best Western and some Red Lion Inns and it was too far to walk to town so a car is needed unless you want to ride the bus. Chinese restaurant in the lower level was convenient for lunch or dinner.

Clean hotel. Noise could be an issue but it didn't effect us. You get what you pay for. Overall its a good stay

It was friendly and a great price .. Decent location but there is a strip bar attached to the motel. Lots of rather loud drunken men from 12 till 2:30 am. Very noisey.

This hotel was the cheapest thing to be found in Victoria, BC, and so this was my motivation for booking. However, I was pleasantly surprised to note that though it's not right downtown and is on a rather busy road, the Red Lion in has the Galloping Goose trail just behind it, making it possible to leave the hotel and get downtown in 10 minutes by bike!

It was a clean room and very comfortable...a little small and a little noisy, but it was great!

I ordered a studio room with a queen bed, and got a standard room with 2 double beds. We could hear noise and talking from rooms on all sides. No food or room service available.

good hotel in a good place

Red Lion Inn is in a convenient location for us and it is quiet and comfortable.

This hotel is certainly a good bargain. It is an easy drive into downtown (use parking garages or just take the bus). It could be walkable if you had time and didn't mind a half hour walk. When we arrived at night, there were some sketchy types milling around the liquor store and smoking a joint. At Check in, I was told that they had a room, but not the room I payed for on Orbitz. We had to stay in a double bed instead of the Queen that I booked. There was a sticky film on the lobby floor and the elevator. The room was nice, but our window opened onto a loading dock area complete with reverse gear beeping. Once we closed the window and turned on the wall unit fan, we slept very soundly. The bathroom is well appointed with granite tile. I am six feet tall and bumped my head pretty badly on the towel rack- which is placed right on line with where one's head leans in to turn on the shower. Tall people beware! It was still a good deal, the room was nice and there was ample parking.
