Rosellen Suites At Stanley Park3.0 out of 5.0

This hotel/condos was in a very desirable part of Vancouver. Within 500 ft of Stanley Park and a 15 minute walk down to the water and convention center. Very quiet and safe neighborhood with great ethnic restaurants within a couple of blocks. Each condo has a full kitchen. We had a two bedroom with 2 bathrooms.
Our family's first visit to Vancouver and we chose the Rosellen Suites based on the location and a Safeway grocery, Cobbs bakery and several restaurants (Ramen, Sushi, African fusion, Italian, Korean, frozen yogurt, cakes/bakery). I enjoyed walking down to Denman street in the morning to get coffee at Blenz and fresh croissants and scones at Cobbs bakery. The area has a great neighborhood feel with lush landscaping, many dog walkers and friendly locals. As far as sightseeing and activities, we walked to Stanley Park several times during our stay to visit 3rd Beach, the Stanley Park Pitch and Putt, and the Stanley Park Horse drawn carriage ride and the Vancouver Aquarium. There are also several bike rental shops to choose less than 10 minutes from the Rosellen. Our family of 4 rented 2 tandem bikes to explore Stanley Park for the day. We did rent a car, but only used it to go to Grouse Mountain, Kitts beach, Lynn Canyon, Capilano Suspension bridge and Granville Island...again the longest drive we had was about 25 minutes--mostly due to traffic vs actual distance. Again location was excellent. As for the accommodations, we had a 2 bedroom 1 bath suite- room 307. It had a kitchenette and a spacious common room with 2 sofas, desk and a dinette. The larger room had 2 full beds where my kids slept and the other room had a queen where my wife and I slept. The room was rather cramped as the bed took up most of the room and there was room only for a small closet and only one nightstand. The kitchenette is small but serviceable- just need to adjust back to apartment/dorm living. The bathroom had a pedestal sink so counter space was lacking. There were coin operated laundry facilities on site that you can use after 5 or 6pm- we used it twice during our stay. There were a couple of dryers that didn't get very hot so I had to re-run a couple of loads. We were also given a parking space in the underground parking garage. A bit tight for our full size sedan, but no problems once I got the hang of it. The front desk is only open from 9am to 5pm, so we had to follow the late check-in procedure which went flawlessly for our family. I did have to help another family with their late checkin as their room key didn't work and they didn't speak much English when they tried to explain their situation to the on call staff. The staff were very friendly and helpful giving suggestions for things to do and places to eat. Note: the Rosellen does charge a night's stay when reserving your room and I paid for the whole stay once I went to the office on the second day. This may put off some people, but since everything went without a hitch I didn't mind. All in all, a great stay in a great location. We enjoyed our time in Vancouver and at the Rosellen.
We had two recent stays (before and after a cruise). We stayed in two-bed, two-bath suites each time (we have a family of six with kids ranging from 12 years to 4 years). The suites were perfect for us...another reviewer used the term "nostalgic" which seems good--it reminded me a bit of staying at an older relative's home. That said, they were perfect for us. Though tucked in a quiet residential area, we could walk to Stanley Park or go the other direction for Denman Street which has a lot of food options and also has a grocery store which we used to make food in the suite's kitchen. The front office staff were amazing...very helpful and full of great recommendations. I highly recommend and would go back to explore more of beautiful Vancouver.
We love the pretty leafy neighbourhood, which is next to the beautiful Stanley Park. Nearby are also good cafes, which made staying at Rosellen Suites such a convenient and comfortable experience for us. The service is also excellent. Everyone is helpful and accommodating, and we are very appreciative of the kind gestures. The rooms may be a little dated, but they are spacious and well-equibbed. We are very happy with our stay!
My suite (202) was not like the modern, well-furnished ones shown on the website. It was more like a student apartment, with dated decor and cheap furniture. The second bedroom was so small that both ends of the bed touched walls. However, it was very clean. Potential guests should be aware that this is an apartment building, not a hotel.
We came to Vancouver with friends a couple days before our cruise and wanted a place that we could share that would be close to it all. We found it!! We have 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining, living room - plenty of space for the 4 of us! Actually, we could have fit 2 more people easily on the Murphy bed in the living room. The property is not air conditioned but is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood so having the windows open was perfectly ok. I rated it very good - not excellent because of the size of the shower is small and all the doors are loud and thin but that being said, I would stay here again!
We had such a great week at Vancouver's Rosellen Suites. We walked everywhere and used the Hop On Hop Off Trolley to see Stanley Park, Granville Island Market, ride False Creek Ferry, and finally to get to The Boathouse Restaurant on English Bay. Perfect!
Rosellen is funky enough to be lived in, and clean enough for my Auntie. No small feat. Kent is friendly and knowledgeable, so accommodating; and half a block from the park! Lovely. An easy walking distance to everything. Go to the Sylvia for happy hour. It's the old Vancouver before the glass and metal scrapers took over. Charming.
Very restful stay in a nice area. Cute kitchenette, fluffy beds and affordable. Decor is a little dated but the staff keeps the suites clean. Walking distance to Stanley Park. Three of us were comfortable in the suite.
I chose this hotel for our ladies' stay-cation (I am the only one now living outside the Vancouver area of the group of us) because of its size and proximity to Stanley Park and Denman Street for shops and restaurants. We weren't disappointed: the suite was very roomy for the five of us, we loved the peaceful neighbourhood setting, and we enjoyed our stay very much. The bed I slept on was a little firm for me so I struggled to sleep well, but my companions all appeared to sleep pretty well. We loved having two full baths and a full kitchen (we only used it for breakfasts though). We noticed some dusty areas when we hunted for the switch for the heat register, but the rest of the suite was very clean and comfortable. We loved the wood-burning fireplace, although we didn't use it. It is run by a small staff but they were very helpful. We would stay again.
