I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I had no issues or complaints. It's in a good area of Vancouver, within walking distance to basically everything. The rooms are not the most luxurious and the bedroom and bathroom were on the small side however the kitchen and living room area were spacious. Considering the price and location this hotel was perfect for me and my son. We also loved the restaurant Moxie's, food and service were always great.
My room was COLD, a maid brought me a small heater so that I didn't FREEZE to death! The toilet seat wouldn't stay up, so I was VERY frustrated for OVER half of my stay! The TV in the bedroom malfunctioned for several days, and after SEVERAL failed attempts, a customer service person at the front desk arranged for me to get a replacement, and lastly, the carpet had ripples in it, like it wasn't properly installed, not a safe environment for walking around!
Right in the heart of the LGBT community. Hotel is a perfect location for an amazing gay weekend!
Awful smell in my corner room...1809. Bought Febreze to help eliminate the odor. Around 1130p I realized the odor was coming from the mattress. I called the front desk to change rooms, but there was only a smaller room on the fourth floor next to the elevator available. So I slept on the couch. I didn't bother opening up the sleeper because the blankets in the closet looked unsanitary. However, I was given another room at 1100a and it had no smell, the bed looked clean and the view was better. I slept comfortably that night. I'm sure this hotel was nice at one time, but the carpet is filthy and the decor dated and the rooms just feel tired and dirty. The front desk staff and housekeeping were very friendly and accommodating and the neighborhood has grocery stores and restaurants aplenty. Unfortunately, I won't be staying there on my next visit to Vancouver.
Nice and convenient but neighborhood had some areas that were dirty.
ocean rooms had nice view of bay 3/4 mile away. well laid out suites. TV in both living room and bedroom.
The location can't be beat - right on Dave, a very short walk to the gay bars/clubs. The hotel is great and the views are very nice. The room was clean and the suite was well stocked - dishes and silverware and such were provided. This is a great place for a weekend trip or a longer stay.
I loved everything about this hotel, except for the super slow elevator. Nice location, cool view, comfy room.
The best thing about the hotel was the location! Amazing restaurants nearby, (best Greek food I've ever had...even in Athens). We walked both of the days we stayed there and everywhere we went, our hotel was central. The room was very modern/european and the view was spectacular. The gym and the steam room(s) (they are separate male/female) were a great bonus and a great way to sweat of the poutine from the nigh before. Highly recommended.
My stay at the hotel was nice. Very convenient location. Very close to nice resturants and clubs.
Central location, nice staff, a bit aged amenities, sound proof is poor, you can hear noise from the street. Close to all vibes in the city center, lots of places for food
Pre deployment trip to Vancouver for the first time
Unfortunately the hotel had no transportation to the airport. However, a 15-20 min walk to reach Robson Shopping or about 30 mins to Gastown was acceptable. For tourism you can catch the Hop on Hop off open air wagon right at the corner by the hotel, very convenient. The lobby was dark and gloomy but the view from the room on the 16th flr fantastic. Overall it needs some renovation but the kitchen was adequate for me to cook. The price was good.
Hotel was great value for your money, issues with the elevator !!
We were very disappointed when checking into the hotel. The hotel employee at the front desk informed my wife and I that our prepaid reservation was for a reservation for a room with 2 single beds. The employee refused our request to confirm that the reservation was for a room with a queen bed insisting a queen size bed would be available for a much higher room rate. Fortunately I had a printed copy of the reservation and the front desk person backed off their demand without any explanation or apology.
The best thing is that it is a little apartment for the price of a reglar room. Walking distance from the center of Vancouver and all the sites. Attentive staff.
The location is ok, 7 or 8 blocks to the beach. The room was old and musty, hallways dirty, especially filthy to the parkade. 2 of the 3 elevators were broken so every time was a very long wait This hotel needs new management and a serious upgrade
Great Suite with great view, very friendly staff and just a few steps to good grocery shops. And a lot of restaurants, pubs and shops nearby. I really enjoyed my stay.
My stay at the sandman hotel was great. Good Location, a lot of different places were open at night to eat near the restaurant.
The Sandman is a good value for the traveler who wants to be in the west end in the midst of all the action. The place is clean, quiet and the staff is helpful.
