Accent Inn Victoria3.0 out of 5.0

This is the second time I have reviewed this hotel. The reason I am doing it a second time is because they out shined themselves. I gave five stars last time and would give more if I could. Linda went out of her way to accomidate me when I had a last minute change in plans and would need to stay in Victoria longer than what I had booked - even though it was a long weekend. The hotel is very comfortable and clean. They have a lot a cute and cool things here from the 'air ballon' elevator to the funny room signs. The front desk, cleaning and maintenance staff are very friendly. The hotel is located close to restaurants including bin4 burger lounge right next door and there is a pub and beer and wine store just 3 blocks up. I will always stay here when I am in Victoria and would recommend it to anyone. Great job Accent Inn!
The room was lovely, much nicer and renovated than I anticipated. My room had a queen bed, couch with sofa bed, kitchenette and big desk for work. The decor was nice, the bed comfy, lots of pillows. The shower and toilet were separate from the sink and mirror, which is great. It was a little noisy at night as I understand they have a lot of sport teams on the weekend. Staff were friendly and efficient at check-in and check-out. Computer and printer for guest use in the lobby. Specifics: * Heater was very loud and every time it kicked on at night it work me up * One light above mirror was burnout out upon my check-in and not changed during my 2 night stay * Hangers are the old, old kind, attached to the bar and you can not remove. Nobody is going to steal hangers these days and it is very inconvenient to hang up clothes. * no in room safe (or I did not see) * Found a long black hair in my cleaned tub upon check-in * Awesome they had make-up remover for women, but the 2nd day they did not re-fill, like they would soap or shampoo (training opportunity?) * Wifi was great! I had to run a webinar one evening and signal was strong, easy to connect * Lots of lamps and good lighting in the room * Fridge with freezer both a good size * No paring or cutting knife in the drawer * Breakfast included but did not go down * Lots of free parking * Centrally located off main road with easy access to downtown Overall, I would recommend this property and stay again when I am in Victoria.
The location is central to where ever you want to go in the Victoria area. The price is mid range and good value as you get a free breakfast. Lots of choice, all though the make your own pancakes was out of service. The front desk staff could use some better training as they gave us a room that they had just given to another person. They also said when asked if they had no feather pillows that no they don't and if you wanted one Wal-Mart is up the street. Other then staff issues I liked the quirky signs all over the hotel and the fun street sign with Halloween puns on it.
We always stay with the Accent Inn's chain whenever we can (we usually stay at Hotel Zed, which is part of their chain, when in Victoria however this time tried this property). Overall a good place to stay for a short stop. Conveniently located so access to town, ferries and airport is good. Room was quiet and comfortable and breakfast was perfectly adequate unless you have your hopes set on a full English Breakfast!! Lots of parking and the staff were quite friendly. Overall met all of my expectations.
We reserved two rooms at the same time, two people per room, and ended up with the rooms separated by about as much distance as possible. Check-in staff advised us that they had reserved a couple of large groups, and could not accommodate closer rooms. The rooms were at opposite ends of the motel, on different floors. Other than that, the rooms were clean and comfortable.
An average place to stay it is on the side of main road. Rooms are clean & good bed. As it is on the side of road & very close to main road we feel bit insecure. Average Breakfast nothing much to say.
The hotel was ok, it's location is good and lots of parking available. The rooms are clean and comfortable as well. Breakfast can be a bit of a hit or miss as the small area really fills up in peak season, the breakfast is free and sufficiently stocked. The one problem we had was the front desk staff were very unprofessional and even had one young man squeezing a pimple on his face during our entire 5 minute discussion. All in all it was ok, I think we would probably look for something else and take this as a second choice.
Had held out with our travel agent to stay here after reading reviews almost a year ago, and very glad we did. Yes, it's a motel. But a slick one set up by someone who understands what travellers need and sharp business sense. It's in a really convenient, easy to find location from main highways. It provides a good standard of accommodation which is clean, comfortable, modern, well-equipped - as good as, and in some cases better, than a number of more expensive hotels we stayed in on our trip - and delivered with a sense of humour, which we really appreciated. The inclusion of breakfast in an area which is not close to a lot of eateries is a bonus and what we got was far more than we expected. Ok, it's self service, but there was a wide enough range of options to suit most people, and it was good quality food, excellent beverages (got hooked on green Tazo tea) and the breakfast room was immaculately clean and well provisioned. Had we needed it, there was a laundry room, and the staff were cheerful, helpful and polite. Discovered that the company also own the Bin 4 burger restaurant next door and the Lot 1 Pasta restaurant in the mall across the road, both of which were advertised in the foyer. Don't do burgers, but Lot 1 is clearly set up with same kind of focus and displayed the same qualities - clean, modern, efficient, customer friendly and it had a fantastic menu, which we enjoyed on two of the three nights we stayed there. Best meals on our whole trip. Unfortunately the shuttle bus downtown was no longer running when we were there, but it wasn't a huge inconvenience, since we had our hire car and there was ample free parking. It is also close to regular public transport services. And - when we discovered close to the end of our trip that we'd left something behind along the way, (not just a sock) we emailed three hotels to check if they'd found it and offered to pay postage if they could get it sent on. Accent quickly replied to say that yes, we'd left it there, and yes, they'd do their best to get it to us. Sadly not possible before we left Canada, but hopefully Laurie has managed to get it in the mail to the UK for us by now. VERY impressed overall. If we hadn't been staying with family in Kamloops, we'd have been at the Accent Inn there too, where we hope we'd have found the same standard. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Victoria. And yes, we did steal the pen and Captain Duck is happily settling in with his new flock in our bathroom, to the delight of our little granddaughter, who had them swimming in the washbasin yesterday afternoon!
We had a very nice room the first night. I was traveling with my 10 pound dog and 85 1/2 year old mother. I spoke 3 times with the Inn before and after I booked. A staff person called me back because I was concerned about having a pet. My dog was with me when we checked in. They put us in a lovely room on the third floor. We were there to visit my new grand daughter. When we came back to the inn after 7p.m. the second night we were told we needed to move into a "dog friendly" room. My mother has congestive heart failure and was very tired and even though that room would not be cleaned and used til the next day we were made to move. It was not as nice a room, we could not use our air conditioner because of the stench of burger grease coming from the bin-4 burger place. When I commented on this the next morning to Laurie, one of the clerks who was there when we first checked in, she basically called me a lair by saying that the smell wasn't possible. It was another day before I was able to speak to the manager, who asked what is it that I wanted and that the pet policy was on the web page, I have checked....it says nothing about dogs not being allowed on the third floor. He did give us a discount. I have had a lot of time to think about what I "wanted". It would have been nice if someone said I am sorry we messed up. We should all know the policy about no dogs on the third floor. They could have let us move the morning, we had already spent one night in the room. I loved our 1st night there, we are going to be coming up at least 4 times a year.....we won't be staying there again.
Booked into the Accent inn expecting a standard minimal motel. We were surprised by the small touches that made this a very pleasant stay. The reception were staff very helpful. They have apples available for guests and serve a very decent breakfast includes cereals, eggs, pancakes, yogurt, juices, assorted breads and pastries, fruit etc. (although it can get pretty busy). The room was very clean and the beds comfortable. Upon asking about public transit into town we were surprised to find out that they will take you in and pick you up downtown. This is a real bonus! Will stay here again when visiting Victoria
