I just had the pleasure of spending 5 nights at the Marriott Courtyard in Johnson City TN. I’ve been traveling to Johnson City for years and the Courtyard is still the area’s best bet! Using the Mobile app by Marriott I pre checked in and used the chat option requesting a certain room. If you haven’t take a moment and download the app it’s really a great tool. Check in was a breeze and the representative at check-in couldn’t have been any nicer or more professional. My room as requested was ready even with my early arrival. Well done Marriott much appreciated. I spend 75-100 nights a year in a hotel and always try to make Marriott my home away from home if possible. I arrived to find I had been upgraded to a larger room (see pictures) which was spotless. 2 TV’s, couch, work desk, comfortable bed, walk in shower which I truly enjoy. Nice size mini fridge and microwave along with a coffee maker and coffee. The quality and value of this property is outstanding. The Bistro serves Starbucks coffee and the service was delightful each morning. They also serve breakfast and dinner along with your favorite adult beverages. When I headed out on Monday the front desk person greeted me by name. This same gentleman did this last year. Very nice touch more typical of what I expect at Ritz Carlton or JW Marriott. My room was cleaned spotlessly maintained each day. The pool, indoor and outdoor seating areas and indoor pool were spotless as well. The evaluator was rather loud and sounded like it needed service. Tons of free parking. Numerous dining options within a 5 minute walk. There’s also a grocery store and serval fast food options just a mile up the road. The Courtyard is approx. 25 minutes from Tri Cities airport. I didn’t see a shuttle van so I am assuming there is no airport shuttle bus. My only issue is the ashtray that always located at the front door at Courtyards. We were blasted with smoke as we waited for our ride most mornings. Simply stated it’s the Best hotel in Johnson City.
This place was super cute and plenty of space,it had a little living room w/a couch.Bathroom was nice and decently sized as well.Free parking always a plus, staff was always a pleasure! It did have a really nice pool and patio area, unfortunately I didn't have the time to use them.
Our room 220 was facing the parking lot and shopping center. No big deal. We were only here to sleep, didn't need a view. Daughter was in room 219 across the hall and she had a nice view out in back of hotel. Beds were comfortable and plenty of towels and washcloths. Was very disappointed there was no "free" breakfast. Even if it was only cereal, fruit and coffee, would've been really nice, instead of the pricey bistro. Not our style of eating.
We went to visit TV stations in Bristol/Tri-Cities in Tennessee, and after dinner with TV executives we arrived at the Courtyard – Johnson City. It was after 9:00 PM, so we had called earlier to make sure our room was being held. We were greeted by the very friendly Darah, who gave us two keys in the envelope marked room #331. Pushing our luggage cart to the elevator we went upstairs and proceeded to open the door but the key would not work. After turning it around, jiggling it, the door finally opened but from inside where we were greeted by a half-asleep gentleman who wanted to know why we were trying to enter his room where he and his wife had been sound asleep. Embarrassed and proud to still be alive, we hauled our luggage back downstairs to the desk. Darah could not explain the mistake but made me two keys and an envelope for room #311. It was back up the elevator and to the door. Again, I had trouble with the key card and was jiggling it in the door when an ex-military guy opened the door obviously peeved. I quickly showed him the envelope and as he changed his demeanor I told him I was going to leave my luggage and my wife in the hall. He said if she had a problem to knock on his door. As you can imagine I was thrilled to still be alive after two such episodes and back to the front desk I went. Darah was beside herself and actually showed me that in the system that man in #311 was actually booked into room #312 and that I was listed for #311. This would have had to have been done prior to her shift. Pretty much terrified, she was very gun shy as she searched for another room. She chose room #320. As we slipped the key card into the door and opened it, we were fearful as the TV was playing fairly loudly but we found no people inside. This incident is not the hotel way, much less the Marriott way. I consider this not only inconvenient, but dangerous. We could have been attacked or even killed if either one of those rooms had been occupied by someone with an overanxious nature. We had just got in bed when Darah called to let us know she was making a rate reduction without management approval. It was apparent that this had never happened to her or to us. Sarah in the Bistro the next morning was a shining light. Breakfast was great and she comped me a latte, the price of which I left in her tip jar. The fellow at the front desk was a different story. Everything I ask him about from the manager to getting the newspaper was a “no” answer. He looked at his computer and not much at me. This was déjà vu. Years ago, I arrived looking more like bubba than an executive at the JW Marriott in Atlanta where the front desk five never looked at me and finally spouted off one word without putting down the phone or looking up, “Reservation?” I said no that I lived in a house and got no response. My suite had turned into a closet. I called Mr. Marriott and after this incident he liked my quote, “One should never go up to a front desk in a hotel where it appears the staff has arrived before the guests.” Well, this young man at the Courtyard – Johnson City is in that same club with those folks. He was disengaged with no care apparent for customers and not in tune with what it is that makes Marriott’s different and as we both think, above the rest of the hotel brands. It didn’t help my attitude that the “cramped columns” entrance was on this hotel. When I awoke and looked outside the next morning, I could not see the beautiful farm and small stream. I was looking at a shopping center and parking lot. If I were you, I try a different hotel. FYI, I received one of the most non-accountable, lame duck emails, short and not sweet from the General Manager. Big deal.
We've stayed here for two years, several time each summer. Each stay is quiet, clean rooms & common areas, & nice service. The hotel is also walking distance to casual dining. This is our "go to" in Johnson City!
Johnson City's Courtyard by Marriott was filled with exuberant young athletes for the girls' softball tournament in July 2017. Our room was comfy and cavorting in the outdoor pool was fun as the young teens took a break from their time on the field. A plus is the addition of a Starbucks, but the availability of caramel macchiatos couldn't compete with the memory of complementary breakfasts at other Marriott properties.
We had to stay at this hotel due to a leaking icemaker that ruined 5 rooms of our house. During the 6 weeks plus that we stayed there we were treated as if we were part of their family. Steven Bales and his staff went beyond the call of duty to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The room was large and the cleaning staff did a great job to ensure everything we needed was available. The pool was pleasant and the views were lovely. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you for a wonderful stay and making a bad situation with our home into something very pleasant during our stay.
I stayed here for few nights for work. The staff was very nice, hotel was clean, check-in was smooth and bar had good options. Breakfast options are few but good enough. I will definitely recommend this property! Also, property is surrounded by mountains so do explore running trail at the front desk.
In town with family for a few days.....Always stay here. Very Clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Always Greet you coming and going which is very nice. Nice Courtyard with fire pit overlooking beautiful farm land. Several Restaurants within walking distance.
I've had the pleasure to stay at this property on several occasions. I visit Johnson City TN on business several times a year and have found the Marriott Courtyard to be the best property in the Tri Cities area. Eric greeted me by name upon arrival! I arrived early and to my surprise the top floor room I requested was ready. Great job Courtyard Johnson City. My room overlooking the courtyard was spotless. The bathroom is nice size with a large vanity. Comfortable king bed, sofa sleeper, desk and 2 chairs. Coffee maker and refrigerator always a plus. The Bistro brews Starbucks coffee which I really appreciate. Prompt courtesy service every morning. Numerous dining options within walking distance. Moe's BBQ, Jason's Deli, Pie 5 and several others. There's a new grocery store just a mile down the street along with many more dining options. The pool and outdoor courtyard are very inviting. There is a gym as well. Tri Cities regional airport is a easy 20 minute drive. I don't believe there is a shuttle Uber, taxi or rental car is needed. Plenty of free parking. Housekeeping was timely and tidy everyday. The lobby market has sodas, snacks, ice cream, wine 24/7. I know their rates vary but I have to say hands down this was the best value of any property I have stayed at this year. Overall a great stay.
