Courtyard Marriott Johnson City3.0 out of 5.0

I have stayed at many Marriott hotels across the country and was very disappointed by this stay. I was only here for one night and after arriving late, I made my way to my room to find out that their were problems with the toilet in the room. I notified the front desk and the only service they gave me was a plunger which did no good because it was an issue with the toilet itself. So I paid for a room with no bathroom. The front desk clerk explained that the hotel has a water saving feature.
I stay at this Courtyard each time I travel to Johnson City. The employees are very nice and the property is clean. It is located in a nice area and there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance if you don’t want to eat in the Bistro inside the hotel which is a perfectly good place as well.
My stay here was booked through my company so I had no say in the matter, but if it were up to me I would have stayed somewhere else. The rooms were decent enough, at first glance I was in awe at how nice they looked. But upon closer inspection I noticed that there was no microwave in the room, as someone who practically lives out of hotel rooms, that is unacceptable. The only microwave to be found was in the lobby as part of the hotels snack shop. And on top of that no continental breakfast! Only an overpriced "bistro" in the lobby. I do have to say though that the staff was very friendly and helpful, at least the 3 that I interacted with was anyway. Overall this is a good place to stay for a night or two, not the 2 weeks I was forced to stay.
We needed a place to stay for one night. Scoured Airbnb, thinking we would go that route, but couldn't find anything that looked right for us. Checked out hotels and this Courtyard came up. We are glad we chose it! Free, ample parking. Friendly front desk staff. GREAT lobby/lounge area (the curvy sofa - I want that!!). Our room is (we are here now :) ) clean and well laid out. The curtains have 2 little rips in them, but the front desk lady said the whole place is getting a renovation this year so I am guessing those will get replaced then. The washcloth had someone else's hair in it which grosses me out, but hey, it DOES look like it has been laundered... Wifi is free and fast (using it to write this review). Very near restaurants (we see a biscuit place we will be checking out for breakfast) - easily walkable. Good hotel - perfect choice for when you are staying in Johnson City.
Stayed here for 3 nights during the week. At first glance it was really nice. However, once in my room I found that the floors creaked. Found a hair in the shower. The first night was good, I had a larger studio. The mattress was really comfortable and the Netflix feature comes in handy. The 2nd night the person above me was extremely loud stomping went on from 8 pm to 1 am. I called the front desk and it got somewhat quiet. Asked to switch room which they accommodated me no problem. However, it was in a much smaller room the guest next door TV could be heard all night as well. The bathroom had yellow stains on the ceiling and hair stuck to the ceiling. It grossed me out and I cancelled my reservation for upcoming business trips there. I will saw the stay was very friendly and the Netflix feature was really cool.
Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Unfortunately my room didn’t include a microwave, which I rely on when traveling. Overall I was satisfied with my stay, but be sure to request a room with a microwave if you need one.
Marriott has degraded over time since it opened in 2009. We have stayed there numerous times, but will look for another location next year. The current rate for rooms is $134, however the rate during local events increases to $200, a 50% increase. It has increased the rate for events from $154 to $200 in just 3 years. This is with inflation at less than 3%. This is demand based pricing as the airlines have done for years. Also, Marriott owns 30 different brands of hotels which lessens competition. The room shows the wear of 8 years as does the lobby. We stayed an extra day after the event and found our room had not been cleaned by 5 pm. The front desk assured us it would be cleaned soon and could not explain why it was not cleaned as there were very few guests staying that night. Of course they had many rooms to clean, but why not start with the ones that were going to be occupied that night. We returned around 8 pm after dinner and found that a cursory cleaning had been done. Dirty glasses and coffee trash was still there. Cleaning had gone home. The price and service surely don't go together. We will stay elsewhere next year.
I reserved a room with a king bed and pull out sofa. The room was very large and spacious. The only issue was it appeared the blanket for the pull out sofa was dirty. Housekeeping apologized and replaced it immediately. The location of the room was great near the entrance and bar, but there appeared to be a service entrance behind the room and that caused a bit of noise which was annoying early in the morning. Overall a very nice hotel. The staff was great and I would definitely stay again.
Me and my family stayed here on our way to Disney World very clean rooms and very nice people at the desk, plenty of good place to eat all around, would highly recommend to anyone to stay here for family or business trip
Beautiful rooms, super nice! The lounge was clean, and I loved that served Starbucks coffee. Front desk people we courteous, very pleasant and helped me out to my car when checking out... it was pouring rain. I will be back!
