Pantages Hotel Toronto Centre

I booked this hotel for two nights. I had never stayed there before. I had trouble walking with pain in my knee and ankle and decided not to stay the second night. I informed the staff at 9:30 in the morning that I was leaving due to illness. I was told any reimbursement was between me and Orbitz. I drove home and immediately contacted Orbitz. The operator kept me on hold and called the hotel to verify my canceling the second night. The hotel staff said it was too late to cancel, that "half the day" had passed and that I should have informed them the night before. They ignored the fact that I told them at 9:30 in the morning. Now I am out almost $200. I do not fault Orbitz at all, their operator was very courteous. I found the hotel staff to be curt.

I recently stayed at the Pantages for 6 nights. They have a workout room, and a restaurant/bar, and it is nice that most of the rooms have kitchenettes. First the good things: The beds are really comfortable, the hotel staff is fantastic, and the rooms are cleaned very well. I also like that you can open the window in the hotel rooms. The gym is good (2 treadmills, 1 eliptical, and one somewhat broken bike, plus lots of upper body weight machines and free weights). Now the bad things: The lighting is dim in the rooms.. it is hard to read a book by the lights that are available. The AC units don't seem to cool the rooms down enough. I tried window open, window open with AC and window closed with AC and I could never get the room cool enough to sleep. The drapes are set back from the window by about 9 inches, which means that the drapes do not keep any light out. Since this hotel is in the heart of the city, it is like daylight in the rooms 24/7, making it very very difficult to sleep. Lastly, they have a crazy system whereby you can only access the floor of your own room. We had a large group of people staying there, each on a different floor, and we couldn't get to each other's rooms. This seems to take security to a level that is not really needed.

The bed was pretty firm and dented so we rolled to the middle. Sad pillows, too. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and our time in Toronto!

All in all it was really great! The hotel stuff was friendly, nice and really helpful! The room cleaness wasn't perfect, but still "normal" and pretty okay :)

The hotel is minutes walk away from Eaton Center. Room was amazing with washer, dryer, kitchenette. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Loved it and I always recommend this hotel to everyone visiting Toronto.

Right in the middle of the Theatre District. Terrific restaurants and close to downtown and a very reasonable walk to the waterfront.

We stayed for one week in a Queen Suite Deluxe. The room was nice, but smaller than we expected. The in-room amenities (vanity table with chair & kitchenette with full-sized fridge) were nice touches. The vanity table was right behind the bathroom door, which was inconvenient when the door was open. The fridge was about 2 feet from the edge of the bed. The room was not outdated and looked clean, but we did find scuff marks on the wall and lots of dust under the desk and chair. Right downstairs from the hotel is Fran's, which is open 24/7. We walked around the area at night and we were approached by quite a few homeless people each time we were out late. I would not recommend walking alone at night. Parking in the hotel lot is $40+tax per day and that does not include tip for the valet to bring your car back and forth. My sister stayed at the Cosmopolitan and was offered an upgrade, while our check-in was not as smooth. The man at the front desk was on the phone upon our arrival and did not acknowledge our presence. He was rude and did not explain anything to us and just provided us with the keys to the room. On our way back out of the hotel later that day, a woman was at the front desk and she was courteous to the couple checking in and was giving out details about the room and what to do in the area. All in all, it was a nice stay, but for the price, I would not recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel, nothing overly fancy, but clean and comfortable. Good location if you want to stay near the Dundas Square (Times Square) area of Toronto which I found to be a bit too touristy and kinda seedy. I preferred the area closer to the harbor and St. Lawrence Market which was nicer and closer to the attractions that I was interested in seeing (CN Tower, Aquarium, parks long the waterfront). There is no concierge at this hotel and I found this to be a bit of a negative since front desk staff was often busy and didn't have the time to cater to questions regarding the area, where to eat, how to get places etc. I wouldn't pay more than $150 USD per night to stay here, I don't think the hotel warrants paying much more than that. Like I said, good location if you want that area of town, it was clean and comfy and I liked that the rooms had a washer/dryer, kitchenette with microwave etc. Good value but didn't knock my socks off and I think staff can go the extra mile to take it up a notch which I think adding the concierge would help accomplish.

Hotel had great helpful staffing, great location and great room.

quiet clean rooms good service only thing missing is toothpaste i mean not big deal but i have to go out to a few blocks to buy it

We stayed here just for one night for a birthday and we were pleasantly surprised to see what a large room we were given. It was nice to have such a spacious hotel room compared to many others. Everything was clean, people were helpful and the room looked very nice. The only downfall was that there was a surcharge for internet, so travelling guests of outside Canada may incur higher costs if they need wifi. Otherwise, great stay.

Overall the hotel was ok but the Valet service is terrible, they smashed my car on the way out of the garage.. with fresh paint still falling off my car the manager said "they would look at the tapes and call me"...that never happened i called them when i got home 4 days later and the same manager said they looked at the tapes weren't responsible! TOTAL LACK OF RESPECT FOR CUSTOMER PROPERTY would not recommend!!

Wonderful, only issue was refrigerator did not seem to get too cold. Otherwise, nice urban - chic kind of place. Place to stay if going to see concert at Massey Hall.

Only there for one night, but everything was great. If you're going out for the night life, especially night clubs, this is slightly out of the way... this is a much better location to be near Yonge Street shopping and some of the bars. YOU DO NEED TO PAY FOR PARKING, they had $35 Valet, but the garage across the street only cost $16 for a night. Great hotel, wish we had been there longer!

All the staff was excellent, they helped my wife and myself a lot, with restaurant reservations, to find locations, to keep safe our luggage while we travelled to other cities. The location at downtown was great, with most of the attractions near the hotel.

found stains on my sheets and rug looked dirty bathroom also smelled. only upside is location

walked two blocks over to a 2.5 star hotel some friends stayed in and the 2.5 star hotel was much nicer and cleaner than the so called 4.0 star pantages hotel. it was still overall a descent stay but definitely not a 4.0 star hotel

Older hotel in a good location. Friendly staff. Nice bar. Very spacious room with full kitchen and in room washer/dryer. Reception area and main floor tend to be very dark.

We enjoyed the spacious room, attentive staff, and the drinks and entertainment at the Martini Bar. The room was clean and comfy. The staff at the front desk and door were friendly and helpful. The various martinis were excellent and the waitstaff at the bar were excellent as well. We listened to jazz both Friday and Saturday nights and both entertainers were great. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

My stay at the Pantages was great. There seemed to be a little bit of miscommunication regarding the late check-out policy, but the staff was amenable and quickly solved any problems I had. They really adhered to the customer is always right policy. The room was comfortable, warm and welcoming. And the location in the heart of the Toronto downtown core could not get any better. I really had a lovely stay and highly recommend the Pantages. (Just keep in mind that it is expensive.)
