I was here for one night on business. The hotel has a large car park. Reception was very good and had all my details and key card ready for me. The room was good. I was on the 7th floor. The bar was open as late as you wanted. Breakfast was the usual offering but good with attentive service. I’d come back again!
Booked 1 night Stay. Checkin very busy. Disappointed with the service at the bar. Very slow and did not know the correct glasses to serve the spirits in. Also did not have the ingredients for a drink they were promoting. Untrained staff seemed to be the problem Breakfast was good. Room was clean & Comfortable. Great Location and fab view of the ships docked in port Also parking was good. Charge of £10.00 for an overnight stay. Went out for our evening meal. Check out was very confussing I asked for payment to be taken when I checked and even attempted to pay before arrival and still asked for payment again on. Check out badly orgainised with regards to making a payment.
Easy check in, very helpful staff especially Charli. Had lunch, quick service and reasonable. Very nice room, clean spacious and comfortable.Very nice breakfast next morning and, very pleasant staff and good selection of food.
I was attending a tri annual event over a weekend. Like around 100 others I stayed until the Monday when most attendees had left on Sunday. It appears there was a failure in Management not checking with Reception how many patrons were staying until the Monday so there was just one waitress working in the restaurant to serve the dozens of people wanting dinner. Consequently service was not very good. The bar suffered as well. Other staff were brought in to assist.
Check in was hassle free. The hotel.was clean and comfortable. We had dinner here and everything was delicious. Would return. Abit on the pricey side but overall a good stay. The lady in the bar/cafe was fantastic.
Check-in was slow but the staff were all super friendly. The hotel has two lifts. Our room was average size, not large but not at all cramped. The bed was small but comfortable enough and had all non-feather pillows--great for allergy sufferers. There were two power outlets and two USB ports at each nightstand--excellent for two people charging phones and devices at bedside! There was a hairdryer in the closet and a teakettle, but unfortunately, there was no minifridge even though there was seemingly a cupboard spot for it. The bathroom was tiny but had a good-sized shower (only) with no mold--good job, housekeeping! The shower water pressure was good and the hot water stayed hot. The towels were luxurious and thick. There was no power outlet in the bathroom for the hairdryer, but there were ample outlets at the desk, above which was a large mirror. The free WiFi was strong but not password protected (boo!). The hotel has parking in their large, open-air lot for £10/day. The location is ideal, with shopping & restaurants in easy walking distance. I'll return again.
Stayed here on 6th September for one night before starting a cruise on the 7th. Lovely reception staff. Great room with a view of Queen Victoria. Great Hearty breakfast. Parking a little confusing. Make sure you put your details in the machine. Don’t expect the hotel to tell you even though you make your payment to them. It’s your responsibility to ensure your details get registered in the machine or you’ll get a parking fine of £100. The company quashed the fine once I’d proved I’d payed and stayed, but it’s a hassle. Great hotel though close to Ocean Terminal and plenty of eating places very close.
We stayed here at the start of our holiday. We had an evening meal it was terrible. My husband had a steak he said it was the worst he had ever had. I had a different meal which was just about passable. The presentation was terrible. The rooms were ok but the beds we only traditional doubles and we hardly slept. We would not stay here again. We had a park and stay package and asked for a taxi at 10am or taxi was very late.
This review summarises several stays I had here in assorted rooms between May & October '19. The location is excellent being a short walk to the town centre and the modern shopping arcade and assortment of good restaurants. Most stays I was recognised as a IHG member and given an upgrade and/or free drink. The executive rooms are large and comfortable There’s a large comfortable king size bed, cupboard with hangers and a single shelf, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, complementary water and snack, safe deposit box, good size tv, desk area and a couple of easy chairs and occasional table, good to see power points by the bed side with USB points. Although overall the decor is neat and clean I did notice that most of the bathroom doors have suffered water damage from overflowing showers and in need of renovation, this has also caused staining of the carpet as well as rusty door hinges. I spent a number of days in a standard room which aside from the ludicrous short shirt hangers (see photo) and lack of fridge was more than adequate and comfortable for a short stay. Contracted out or not hotel laundry is an absolute rip off and takes advantage of long term residents. I did find the front facing rooms at the far south end on each floor noisy because they are next to the industrial air conditioning units. Breakfast was as expected especially the tasteless reconstituted scrambled eggs most hotels seem to favour but aside from this of good quality and well maintained and organised however it's overpriced even if booking it at the time of reservation. Special mention to the breakfast staff but overall all the hotel staff were always courteous and helpful. The restaurant evening menu had a good assortment of dishes and reasonable prices however it can get very busy with cruise line tourists and occasionally is fully booked and only room service is available. I was very disappointed that for my longer stay, reservations offered me a supposedly discounted long term rate only for me to discover (before accepting) that it was actually more expensive than booking it through the IHG App for exactly the same deal and this was not during the recent boat show where prices exceeded £200/night - a scandalous practice by the hotel industry. The hotel is in need of an update especially the outside, restaurant & reception areas as well as an upgrade to the lifts. Overall I had a good stay and would probably stay again depending on the rate.
I've stayed in this hotel before a while ago as it's ideally located for concerts at the nearby Engine Rooms (where I was going in the evening) and it's good, but be aware that bathrooms in the standard rooms are very small. My room was a standard twin beds, high floor quiet room which was exactly what I requested and very clean. Looked like the rooms have had a makeover since the last time I was here as it was better decor this time, I was very pleased that they provide hair conditioner as well as shampoo in the bathroom as I needed to use it and it was good quality. For other toiletries and shower caps, you have to request from housekeeping as they no longer put them in the bathrooms except in the club rooms. Teas and coffees are in the standard rooms as usual. I didn't have the breakfast included, only had a club sandwich in the restaurant which was very good, but I expect it to be good and large portion for £12.00! I used the swimming pool in Spirit fitness club which is located in the building just opposite the main hotel building across the car park, there is a gym, pool, jacuzzi and saunas. Pool are was very clean, good temperature, same with jacuzzi. Towels are provided. The only negative thing I can mention that needs to be sorted out is the carpet on my floor (6th floor) looked really old and dirty, I noticed marks all over it as soon as I stepped out of the lift to walk to my room, it's not inviting at all, but it's something that can easily be updated. I expect the carpets are like this down the corridors on other floors, but it doesn't look nice, they need to re-new those carpets. Besides that, I'll be staying here again as it's well located for events I go to in Southampton.
