The room is tidy and clean, though it’s a little bit old. The heating is not really functioning and it was a little bit cold inside the room. The location is perfect.

Stayed over after a works meal. The location is good but the hotel is tired. The bed/mattress was extremely uncomfortable and I did report it. You were in a grove and no support. The swimming pool is tiny and not worth it.

Great stay, perfect location being minutes from train station, (exit station and walk straight up the incline). Bus station round the corner. Right next to Christmas markets, peace gardens and botanical gardens (use entrance at the side of reception). Room great and bed very comfy and room quiet, only crtisim was the separate toilet with no sink or ventilation. Breakfast and food good.

Common spaces of this hotel are lovely but room is very tired with old furniture, very dirty carpet and old bathroom with toilet separated from sink and bath. Service was good and polite but I wouldn't stay again as it is not a good value for money.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the city centre, surrounded by a wide variety of restaurants, including Asian cuisine, local eateries, cafés and bars. However, the hotel itself feels quite outdated in terms of décor. What disappointed me the most was the staff — they were very cold and unfriendly, with no smiles or greetings at all. They really need further training on customer service and hospitality. The room size was acceptable, but the layout was quite strange. The toilet and bathroom were separated and located far apart, which was very inconvenient. Although having both a bathtub and a shower was a nice touch, it didn’t make sense that the toilet was so far away and there was no sink for washing hands nearby. The bathroom only provided shampoo and body wash, but no conditioner, which was also odd. The only thing I truly appreciated was the swimming pool — the water was pleasantly warm, and there was also a steam room. However, there were no staff members on duty, so guests had to take care of themselves.

Pleasant room but outlook was onto a brick wall. Could not use safe as previous occupant had lwft it locked. Didn't have time to contact reception and wait for it to be fixed before going out. Arrived at 3 pm - stated check in time. Had to wait until 3.30 for the room to be ready. My husband is disabled and all the chairs in reception were very low and impossible for him to use. One of the bar staff heard me telling my husband I would go to try and find a higher chair and he very kindly fetched chairs for both of us from the bar. He also then watched out for when we were told our room was ready and came to help us to our room with our case. A very kind gesture. We had an evening meal in the hotel. We ordered at 5pm but weren't served until nearly 5.40. Breakfast was OK but not as nice as usual. The scrambled egg was awful, so overcooked it was like rubber and the porridge was thick and lumpy. We have stayed at the Sheffield centre Novotel many times and we have always been very pleased with the hotel but were disappointed this time.

Staff don’t know how to add my All Accor number but we’re friendly enough. The bed was awful, as were the pillows. The mattress was incredibly uncomfortable and pillows were lumpy. The room was also too hot with no ability to cool it. Not a great sleep!

Staff were perfunctory; they don’t seem happy. Alina, however, was very kind and printed out our match tickets for us; we appreciated that. On checkout, we weren’t asked about our stay. Room was cleaned each day, but towels were missing, bin liner wasn’t replaced, toilet roll not replenished; the room was not cleaned to an acceptable standard. The room was comfortable, but definitely on the warm side (there is a fan, though). The positives are the location and the size the room.
