So my mum and I stayed for one night and it was a great location, reception bar and spa areas looked amazing. The rooms were basic bed tv hangers.. it did offer tea and coffee which was nice. Having a shower was uncomfortable the door opened inwards so if you have boobs bigger than a C it’s really awkward to get in so maybe stick to using the bath.
Hotel was very disappointing for a 4* . The bathroom didn’t have a bath and the toilet was in a separate small dark room on its own. The room was ok size. Reception staff looked unhappy and were not very helpful, especially when the room key was not working. Room was freezing and was poorly decorated . Location was very good .
Stayed mid week and were offered a choice of rooms (bath or shower, view, etc) which we didn't expect. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our double room was a good size with sofa and desk with chair. The bathroom was modern with separate toilet. Excellent breakfast. The only downside is very limited on site parking.
Maybe first, start with the plus: location, room size, price. Now for the issues, and there were quite a few: 1) requested early check in and arrived around 10:30 to the hotel. Response was hotel had been full night before and had to wait to standard check in time (housekeeping does clean one room at a time so this could have been released, especially as we were there for conference being held in the complex). 2) breakfast on both days were late being set up (see picture). Supposed to open by 6am but at 6:30 on each day was still in process. 3) room cleanliness (again see photos) as there was mold in the bathroom which is a health hazard and makes one not want to stay 4) service standards - staff at reception, in general were not helpful 5) as with a number of hotels now, they do not provide full amenities and expect guest to call down each time (just does not meet expectations) and finally, I requested a one hour late check out. Response was initially that they could not due to my room category. Even as a Le Club member. Finally was agreed, but already defeated the purpose of the loyalty program. If as a regular user of Accor, they cannot accommodate, they how do they treat others?
Stayed for 2 nights at a conference! Room good size with decent size bed and excellent clean bathroom with separate toilet. Service from staff in the restaurant was good and the chef Miguel and restaurant/bar manager Giovanni both proving extremely helpful with extra requests that our group had! Hotel is in a good location and I had no complaints at all over the whole weekend!
No-one expects glamour or luxury when staying at a Novotel, but you do want things to work. The heating in my room didn’t. Nor did the first plug-in heater I was given. Fortunately the second heater did work. I wasn’t recognised as a Gold member when I checked in and no explanation was given for the lack of an upgrade. The gift of a cheesecake delivered to the room was very welcome though! In honesty I think Premier Inn offers a more consistent standard. As a result the Novotel Sheffield won’t be my first choice when I return to the city.
I stayed here for a business trip. It was very central - five minutes' walk from the train station to the centre of town and you walk past Novotel on your way. The reception staff were friendly and efficient - I checked in my baggage before me and, similarly, on check out they were happy that I leave my bag for later collection. The room was spacious. My only comment would be with regards to the cleanliness - the room could have been cleaner. The surfaces were dirty and tacky and the bathroom was far from pristine. Room was stuffy but that's often the case on inner city hotels - open the windows and you get noise (as one would expect) but have the windows closed and it's stuffy. That's just me though - I like to sleep in a cool temperature with the window open which is difficult in the middle of a city. Nothing to do with the hotel - that's just me. Would I stay again? Probably. Definitely if the cleanliness were improved.
This is the best Novotel I've stayed at. The location etc was as you'd expect - very convenient - but I thought the level of service offered by the staff was exceptional. I stay in a number of the Accor Hotels range and the staff in Sheffield belong in one of the MGALLERY hotels
Stayed at the Novotel with my daughter, really dissapointing with the disrepair and state of the leasiure facilities, no lockers working in men's, steam room and shower poolside not working. Also disappointed with breakfast experience where the advertise pancake station was nowhere to be seen! Very dissapointing for a 12 year old. To top it all there is audacious £13.95 overnight parking charge!! I Am not happy that these known deficiencies are (a) happening (b) or advertised prior to booking, what was even more dissapointing was when raising this I received a bland response from the manger saying "we strive to provide superior service and will look to address the issues" in summary clearly happy to provide you with a sub standard service hence my comment priority of profit over customers!
Walked into the hotel and the first thing I heard was a technician yelling at the top of his lungs, "Mate there are more people stuck in the lift again, can you bring it down to Level 1". That should have been my queue to bail as quickly as I could from this place, but alas! I was checked in rather rudely by a front staff assistant who clearly was overwhelmed by the sudden arrival of 2 guests - a monumental task at 7pm for any person. She handed us our keys after taking our payment of course but neglected to mention one extremely crucial detail - there was no hot water in the entire hotel! I was informed of this major development by one of my disgruntled fellow hotel occupants, probably fresh off the broken elevator, who rather chirpily noted that I should get to the Mercure pronto. Now as the skeptical person that I am, with the deranged view that perhaps my room was spared from this Arctic bath water catastrophe, I decided my first task on entering the room should be to see for myself if I had won the shower lottery. Unfortunately the entire hotel includes me, shocking I know, and the front desk were rather unhelpful with alternate solutions or answers on when their boiler would be fixed. What rather bemused me however was their solution to the problem, "If you would just like to head to the Mercure and use their gym showers, you will find they have hot water." In all my years as a guest at numerous hotels, I have never heard the front desk ever ask me to abandon their own hotel and use another's gym showers. Any reimbursement for my pains - nope nada. So I tell you this Tripadvisorverse - save your money and stay at the Mercure. I know Novotel want you too, so save them the hassle. You can thank me later.
