Stayed for one night as a family in two rooms. All staff very helpful and welcoming, rooms were excellent and even got discounted parking at nearby multi-storey car park. All good, will be staying again
Very friendly and lovely place to stay if you’re in the area and need accommodation, very clean and warm room with tea and coffee facilities. Very good choice of things to eat at breakfast. Stayed on level 3 and a little noisy from entertainment outside the hotel until late in the evenings, but don’t let that put you off. Would stop again if I’m in the area.
First, great location with a little square in back and a beautiful building. Also some very nice front desk help (Elissa) checking in. But I think one’s experience at this hotel depends on the room. I would only book a mezzanine room and I would take care to ask for a larger one. Ours was fairly small and narrow even with stairs up to a mezzanine bed. Another I noticed while it was being serviced looked larger, but I could be wrong. I’d avoid a first floor standard double, which would be a basic room in any mediocre hotel. I’d also avoid a room at the West St/Church St side of the hotel. The tram at night is a little loud rounding that corner. The tram at night was minor compared to a drunken, SCREAMING argument between a couple in the next room at 2am. Hardly the hotel’s fault and the night manager asked them professionally to stop, which they eventually did. But it would have also been nice to have the staff in the morning somehow recognize what we had experienced the night before with maybe an apology, perhaps breakfast, or even a tea. But they were completely unaware and we ended up paying full fare for a sleep deprived and somewhat stressful night. Also, on Friday AM the hotel had complimentary tea and coffee in a hallway just off the lobby. But on Saturday there was nothing. Just didn’t understand the inconsistent service. A better room and a better night might have me rating this very differently as it is a beautiful, well located building. I might try it again if I had some assurance about the room assigned.
Great location.. Lovely room.. Clean ticked all the boxes. Nice to have a bath instead of a shower. Tea and coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board. Spotless sheets and towels. Lovely friendly staff from the cleaners to the reception staff. A particular mention for Medhat in the restaurant, he could not do enough for us. We paid £9.95 for one cooked breakfast and £7.95 for a continental, good choices, muffins, choc au pain, Danish pastries, lots of fresh fruit, parma ham and melon, salamis. You could pay a bit more for kippers, smoked salmon etc. Will return.
Stayed here for one night and had a room on the ground floor. Room was lovely and warm and spacious. The drinks package is good value - £15 for a very large glass of wine, a bottle of beer, a spirit and mixer and two soft drinks. Staff are lovely and can't do enough for you. Highly recommend!
We stayed here for one night as we were going to the opera at the city hall. The reviews of the Leopold seemed very good so I booked for us to stay here. Everything was just really good about our stay. The staff are wonderful , polite, helpful, efficient (reception staff and every other member of staff we encountered) Our room was a pleasant surprise. Large and spacious with a mezzanine level for the bedroom , the bed was huge and comfortable, the room was brilliantly stocked with drinks , toiletries , clean fluffy towels, robes, slippers, two televisions, iron and ironing board. The decor and cleanliness levels were of an extremely high standard. The is a car park which is available for customers of the hotel which is a short walk from the hotel. This was very safe and secure so we felt safe leaving our car there. The leopold hotel has a square at the back with various eateries and bars ( Japanese, tapas, Italian cuisine for example) . This was lovely and the atmosphere in zizzis where we went was lovely. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would definitely return.
Our room was beautiful, spotlessly clean with Rituals toiletries. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food. What gave the 5star review was the staff. The barman, receptionists and breakfast staff were pleasant, approachable and so very helpful. The hotel should be very proud of them.
Always when Paul Carrack is playing Sheffield, the Leopold is since years our residence. Especially good distance to go to centre as pedastrian. Very fine standard, room clean, good quality of beds (important for us!),reception very kind, bar with good choice of drinks. We like the athmospahre very.We come back, as the last years ;-)
While this is a stunning building, our stay was disappointing for several reasons. Its incredibility difficult to get to by car due to Sheffield's one way system, and camera patrolled bus lanes, OK so this is not the hotels fault but better signage would help. When you do get there you find the hotels car part (ridiculously expensive) is a three block walk away. The hotels 'drop of zone' was full of builders vans. Our room was a mezzanine type with bathroom and lounge area down stairs and bed upstairs. However, one light switch controlled all the lights therefore it was not possible to turn only one level of lights on without illuminating the whole place. Every step of the stairs creaked and groaned so loud it woke my wife up. There was a TV upstairs and one down stairs, however only one TV remote control. Noise was a big problem with the road outside and what I presume was a staff corridor right outside our bedroom, quite why people have to shout and make so much noise in hotel corridors remains a mystery. The bathroom although well equipped had a very small sink and insufficient lighting / mirrors. Reception staff were polite and helpful, shame cannot be said for the bar staff. Waited 20 minutes until a member of staff arrived at the bar, which is woefully too small, very uncomfortable seating and again suffers from noise generated by Leopold Square which is just outside. There was a large trolley full of dirty glasses, plates, food waste and garbage right by the counter, and what little staff there was were simply adding to this rather than take it away. So we will not be staying here again, lots of little things wrong which don't justify the price paid to stay here or the level of service. My money is better spent elsewhere.
I was excited to stay here as I saw this building for many years empty when I used to live in Sheffield. Location is excellent for most aspects of a business trip and ideal if visiting central Sheffield. The history is fantastic and I had a warm welcome when I arrived. Unfortunately the room I was given had no heating as the aircon was broken and I had two electrical heaters in my room instead. Least to say I was cold all night and the sound of heaters clicking on and off was not helpful. The hotel was not busy so I am surprised that they let out this room. The receptionist in the morning was not really interested to hear my feedback. Would I stay again? Sure but I will ask them to show and check the room when I arrive.
