Sorry to say this was a big disappointment. We were served tea/coffee when we first arrived and were not offered any refills ( not that we saw any staff to ask for a refresher). The scone and Victoria sandwich were both over cooked and very dry. Very poor service and would certainly not recommend. I hope this was a one off. This is the first time I have ever left a restaurant without leaving a tip.
We arrived early and just wanted to leave our luggage until check in time, the young man on reception checked to see if any rooms were available but there wasn’t, when we went back our luggage was already in our room ready. We were in room 148 which overlooks Leopold Square where there are several establishments, restaurants and pubs. There was loud music coming from the Cuban establishment that went on until early hours. We could hear the noise even through the secondary glazing, we put up with noise as we do understand this is a hotel in a city centre. The room has high ceilings and a standard size, it had a chemical smell as though the carpets had just been cleaned and the bathroom smelt damp there is no extractor fan. Shower is powerful and the water temperature excellent. The bed was a little uncomfortable and the pillows could maybe do with replacing as they are well used. Very impressed with the hairdryer, it is a proper salon hairdryer nothing worse than having to keep your finger on one of those that are wired in. We had to move the furniture so our plugs fitted in the sockets, the furniture is high and the moulded wires wouldn’t let the plug in the sockets. Struggled to get good lighting near a mirror to apply make up and the mirror in the bathroom could do with being heated especially as there is no extractor fan. We stayed at the Leopold as it is was very local for our visit to the City Hall, we called at the hotel bar on our way out, my hubby stood at the bar whilst I found a seat the bar staff ignored him to start off with until he said excuse me, they told him to take a seat and they would come over to take our order, a gent that came down after us got served by a different bar man straight away, we waited a while then decided to leave as it was quite obvious we wasn’t going to get served for a while as they kept themselves busy doing other jobs so we spent our money elsewhere. The reception staff were fantastic and even phoned to make sure we had found our room ok, as we hadn’t been before the young man showed us where the lift was. Shame about the bar staff and getting a drink before our evening out. We went on the train so didn’t have to worry about parking the car, the train station is about a 15 minute walk away. Sheffield it’s self is quite run down, has a John Lewis which was ok, Debenhams which was terrible and as usual M&S. Would visit again but only if visiting a theatre.
Stayed here on business. Handy for the city centre but undergoing refurbishment when I checked in. No bar or seating area save for a basement ‘library’ which was a wall of wallpaper books. Food was average and staff were helpful, but overall I found it bland and would not be rushing back.
Great location, quiet room, well appointed and reasonably spacious, staff extremely attentive and the full English brekkie at £9.99 was fab value - Plus a well appointed breakfast buffet which I could have visited several times. Definitely be back.
Stayed here with a friend for 2 nights and the location was perfect for us. Shops all within a 5-10 minute walk, bars right outside the doorstep and again no more than 10 minutes away. While it was great if you were going out and not trying to sleep at 10pm every night I’d imagine the noise from the bars nearby would be difficult if you wanted an early night. It didn’t bother us at all we slept very well the beds were really comfortable and big. Overall a great stay.
The only place I stay when visiting Sheffield! Great central location, friendly efficient staff always on hand to help. Good size comfortable rooms, with everything you need - always a great stay. Highly recommended.
I had to come to Sheffield for a customer meeting / dinner and stayed at the Leopold, what a fantastic hotel with great rooms, mezzanine suite, and great service !! Reasonably price and in a central location. Looking forward to coming back !
Very comfortable quiet room. We spent an undisturbed night and found the hotel staff most attentive and helpful. We experienced a minor plumbing problem that was fixed straight away with no fuss or bother
A stone's throw from the city centre of Sheffield lies this amazing little hotel. The Leopold is renovated old school building and is full of little nods to its heritage with old coat pegs and pictures lining the corridors. The customer service here is amazing and every member of staff I've had the pleasure of talking to has been lovely. Breakfast is good, and although hot food service is a little slow it is amazing that they cater for gluten free!
The room was clean and has the usual tea and coffee facilities. Staff friendly. The location is ideal, right in the middle of the city centre. Booked direct with the hotel and got a free drink. I will definatly stay again.
