I turned up at the hotel only to be told that my room had been flooded by an issue with the water system. I was requested to stay at another hotel that they had organised. Although the receptionist was polite, this was disappointing and would have liked to have been informed before I got there.
I was traveling to London for the first time. I was recommended to stay in this hotel by my friend who stays close by in Ilford. The rooms are comfortable and nice. The breakfast spread has also got lot of variety. Most importantly the staff members are very courteous and prompt. I would recommend this hotel for short and comfortable stay.
V. helpful night receptionist helped push my broken-down car off the road, and also carried my luggage at 1.30am. A little old-fashioned hotel, but quite comfortable. Good breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff.
Positives: 1) The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable 2) Most of the staff were friendly 3) There was a heater Negatives: 1) 2 of the 5 plug sockets weren't working 2) The food wasn't very nice. The 'bacon' was definitely not bacon, it tasted like turkey. 3) The wifi, which was very important for me, was absolutely atrocious. My connection was terrible at all times of the day, from midday to 4 o'clock in the morning. At several points it was dropping out completely every minute or so.
I urge people not to stay here! Disgusting & filthy rooms, so much noise outside as well, you barely get a wink of sleep. Definitely in need of a renovation! Never going here again even if it was free!
I had a business meeting the following morning in Brentwood so location wise this was ok. However, the hotel itself had grubby carpets reminiscent of small town 70's discotheques. Sharing of a wash room didn't bother me too much as I was only there for 11 hours in total. My partner booked through an online company for me and paid. When I got there they said I had to pay again with a card in my name (I thought this was odd). When checking our accounts both had been charged. Eventually we had one refunded after chasing them up, but if we hadn't been so vigilant it could have gone unnoticed. In summary the hotel was bearable for 11 hours but I would avoid the place like the plague. The area felt a bit unsafe, and judging that the only successful businesses nearby are weatherspoons, post offices, sun bed salons and booze outlets it may well have the same reputation with locals. If you do have the pleasure to stay here be careful to check card payments and make sure you don't stick to the bubble gummed carpets or they will charge for the extra day.
I have never on my entire life come across such a gross place!!! I didn't want to touch anything as it repulsed me so much.. The hotel is definitely not as described or as the pictures on booking.com!! When we arrived last night there was a group standing outside smoking canabis this already put me off. The hotel is VERY tired and run down. Our room was musty and had a very pungent smell of damp!! Our room had a fire exit which was a locked patio door with a building site on the other side. Please please do yourself a favour and pay whatever it is to stay in a travel lodge or premier Inn... this place is beyond awful!!
Booked to stay here for two nights. Got a phone call on my day of arrival to ask what time I would be there. When I arrived, they told me that there had been a problem and I was to be transferred to another hotel - not something they'd mentioned on the phone. So I was transferred to a hotel where the rooms were not en-suite, there was no WiFi, there was no breakfast included (all of which were part of the Cranbrook booking) - and to cap it all it was even further away from where I was conducting business! The other hotel was very poorly run, dirty linen and rubbish bags scattered in the corridor - although at least the people were nice. They did organise for me to have breakfast at the hotel next door.
Please read this and take my advice, you'd be stupid to book here, don't put yourself through what I have..... Firstly I booked this hotel through booking.com, the dates I chose online weren't the dates the hotel had, I booked to stay here for 1 night in August, and they had me down to stay for 1 night in November. When I rung the day before to sort out the issue after realising the dates were wrong, I got a very rude receptionist who came across like she couldn't care less and told me I would now need to pay an extra £20 on top of my original £37 booking for the change in dates. Not happy!!! Secondly on the day of arriving to the hotel, I called them in the afternoon just as a courtesy call to say I'll be arriving around midnight as I was at a tv show during the day time. Upon arriving at the hotel at around midnight I went into the reception to check in. I was greeted by another rude receptionist who told me that I can't stay here tonight as there is an emergency in 1 of there blocks and they have put me in 1 of there sister hotels what he says was 1 minute down the road, (sat nav said 7minutes) so again NOT HAPPY!!! I receive NO phone call to tell me about this before I arrived, they just tell me upon arrival and still expect me to pay this extra £20 which I had to pay! When I get to the sister hotel called the Park Hotel, I am greeted by a much nicer receptionist who comes across pleasant but after giving over my booking details he now tells me I also have to pay another £20 as a deposit for the room. AGAIN NOT HAPPY especially when i now have no cash on me!!! When finally getting to our room at the Park Hotel, our room is disgusting, bed sheets are dirty, there is toothpaste in the sick, there's skid marks in the toilet, you get 1 pillow each which is as thin as a slice of bread and we had noisy guests in the morning playing there music very loud.... As you can imagine right now I've had enough, I'm fuming, it's gone midnight, both me and my girlfriend are tired, we get no courtesy call from Cranbrook hotel before we arrive to say about the emergency and that we can't stay there, we still get charged that extra £20 because THEY messed the dates up, all the parking is taken up at both hotels and the park hotel now want more money off you for the room key, but AGAIN your not told about this before hand, it's a joke!! I WILL NEVER EVER STAY IN THESE HOTELS AGAIN, £57 FOR A 11 HOURS STAY AND A BREAKFAST IN THE MORNING!! It is disgusting, they don't care about there guests, all they care about is your money in your pocket!!!
Well i stayed here for one night. I was a bit reluctant because it was very cheap and i thought that the rooms would be compromised. However, i was quite surprised that the rooms were good size, cosy and clean. They provided toiletries and tea/coffee facilities. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Any other hotel would be double the price and provide services i wouldnt use anyway.
