The beds were rock hard! The bathroom smelled like bleach when my party and I arrived. Had the smallest trashcan available.
The only real thing that a hotel needs to get right is the bed. Good water pressure and cleanliness are good there too of course. The bed was terrible. The pillows were so soft, you basically had a thin layer between your head and the mattress. The mattress must’ve been old bc my husband and I essentially rolled into the middle of the king size bed. Disappointing and 2 nights of bad sleep.

Room had a strange odor. The bathroom had hair in the shower and on the floors. Orange hairs. The coffee table also had a sticky substance.
Friendly staff. I didn’t get the poolside room I booked. Sent to a room and there were bugs in the couch. Took the bug to front desk and was provided another room. No compensation for my inconvenience. Hotel looks great in common areas but dated rooms and furniture. Will seek other options next time.
Nice outdoor patio area. Rooms need updating. No microwave.

Everything was super nice about this hotel. Who doesn't like receiving warm chocolate cookies on check-in? Rooms were very clean, everyone from the doorman, to the man checking us in, to the woman checking us out were very friendly. One particular lady who I just can't remember her name helped us from the elevator to the front lobby with a bag. She was most helpful, and friendly. We had 2 rooms with my wife, daughter, and I staying at the hotel for one night. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

It's was an excellent hotel in a great location. We enjoyed the easy access to the surrounding area and the comfort of the lodging. It is close to Duke university and that was important for our visit. The entire city area is beautiful but coming back to the Double Tree was a respite back to relax.
