Holiday Inn West Kelowna

This hotel is just off the highway and coming in from the Kelowna direction is tricky. The hotel is basic and clean, Holiday Inn standard. Check-in was efficient, but with only one person there it is a considerable wait for others standing in line. Our room was an upgrade to an in room jacuzzi, but it is something we would and did not use. The hotel has no restaurant amenities, but the restaurant next door caters to hotel guests. There is also a Boston Pizza.. Would we stay again? Perhaps if the room rate is right, the reason why we booked it in the first place. We would be looking for something closer to downtown Kelowna though.

My reservation confirmation was one rate for my room per night but I was charged a higher rate. I pointed this out upon check-in. I was assured it would be taken care of. I was then overcharged....I think...for 2 cocktails I had billed to my room from a function I had attended. I believe this may have been an honest overcharge. I had ordered a 3rd drink but it never arrived. I don't think a basic drink was over $12.00 per drink. But had I checked my billing before I left, I could have straightened it out at the time. So I take some responsibility. But my ride was waiting and I just grabbed the receipt and ran. Check carefully and don't make the mistake I did.

Stayed as part of a sports team. 12 or so rooms. Nice property. Large rooms with two beds. Outdoor pool. Close to amenities. In house restaurant. Large banquet room. We preordered pasta and salad dinner for 50. Good service and food. Only issue was checkin. Wasn't smooth and some confusion about rooms. I've had much better group check in at other properties.

This Holiday Inn was clean and comfortable. It's what you would expect from a Holiday Inn - essential amenities at a good price. Pros: - Free parking - Restaurants next door (Boston Pizza, Dairy Queen, and Gate Keepers) - 10 minute drive from West Kelowna wineries - Free wifi Cons: - Hotel is a little dated but everything works - 20 minute drive from downtown Kelowna I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for something simple and you know you want to stay in West Kelowna. If you plan on spending more time in Kelowna then I would book something downtown.

Our visit to this hotel was ok...its nothing special breakfast included. Hotels in the Okanagan are always way over priced at all times of the year, so when we got this for 106 a night we grabbed it. Its comfortable , and clean . Most staff are polite and helpful. We would probably stay there again ..IF we got another good deal.

We booked a 2 night getaway here as a couple, Rm #421. Reservation request was quiet room away from the elevator. Hotels often have problems, but most you can work thru. Within minutes of arriving, I saw our toilet seat was broken so I called for it to be fixed. I just had a full hip replacement surgery, so a stable seat is vital as I can't risk a fall! They were awesome and had someone there in minutes fixing it. While he was there, we noticed the only coffee in the room was decaf. He quickly left, and came back with a bunch of real coffee for us. GREAT SAVE by this staff member on both issues! I wish I'd gotten his name! Quickly though our stay went downhill. Our entire floor had guests for a minor hockey tournament. The issue wasn't the kids, it was the chaperones. They left most doors propped open by blocking them with the security latches. That included the adjoining room next to us. That chaperone was EXTREMELY LOUD, and could be often heard hooting & hollering and talking loudly on her phone. We heard everything, including her scolding of one of the girls on the last day while we were 'trying' to sleep. I asked the front desk to move us after the 1st night, but she said she would fix it instead by calling the next room, telling them to be quieter and insist the door is kept closed at all times. This was acceptable to us. However, it did not change, even after a 2nd call to the front desk a couple hours later. Since it was our last night, we resigned to cranking up our tv, as sleeping with that was easier than listening to her next door. All of this would've frustrated us (and it did) but I could get over it with time, and even likely re-book there, hoping there was no tournament! Plus, some of the staff was GREAT---especially LYNNETTE in the dining room! OMG, HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST SERVERS we've ever encountered----anywhere! BUT HERE'S MY REAL ISSUE: My husband left to pick up takeout & was bringing it back to our room. When he got out of the truck (parked directly in FRONT of the lobby door), a blonde haired man behind the desk stopped him and asked if he had a placard to be in a handicapped zone. He replied, "Yes I do & it is clearly displayed. And THANKS FOR ASKING, because my wife is handicapped". My husband walked around the corner and as he waited for the elevator, he could clearly hear that same man talking loudly to other people and said "I've been watching that guy come & go and he SURE DOESN’T LOOK HANDICAPPED TO ME!" THIS INFURIATED US BOTH. First off, if we HAVE a placard & It’s clearly visible. I am handicapped, as I just had a full hip replacement, and if you must know, my husband is a heart patient (something you can't see just from LOOKING at someone). My husband initially 'thanked him for asking' because often we can't find accessible parking. It's frustrating when an unauthorized person parks in a spot meant for placard holders. So we were totally okay that he asked. What we are NOT OKAY with is that a GUEST shouldn't expect to hear a hotel EMPLOYEE TALKING ABOUT THEM in a negative & ignorant way with other staff or guests. I can only assume Holiday Inn is okay with this, as I sent an email to the front desk immediately after it happened and to date have never received a reply. When I checked out the next day, I specifically brought this to the front desk's attention (again). The girl acknowledged that she was already aware of my email. Initially she excused his behavior, and in fact defended it, adding he thought my husband 'didn't look handicapped'. In the end, she did apologize, adding that she'd talk to the manager and have a stern conversation with the agent. But that wasn't good enough in my opinion. As far as I am concerned, her response was almost as bad as his in terms of ASSUMING by someones 'appearance' whether they look handicapped or not. No one can just walk in and get a handicapped parking placard. You need a physician to provide a form that you NEED it. All staff needs to know is IF you have one or not! I held off writing this review in hopes I'd get a call from them, but haven't. We are disappointed in the lack of education on guests with special needs, but more importantly, on the LACK OF THEIR DISCRETION that an employee would publicly criticize a guest to others. You are in guest services. Not guest gossiping. Goodbye Holiday Inn.

Another great stay in this hotel very clean comfortable and quiet, the bedroom was very spacious and such comfortable beds, lovely bathroom and shower, friendly staff, plus nice swimming pool, will definitely stay again.

We attended a Birthday Party in one of the banquet rooms. There where some apps and you could purchase a cocktail or beer. There where small kids at the Birthday and the way the room was set up was wonderful. The kids all under five ran around and had so much fun, mean while the adults never really noticed they where there. They gave us a short menu with different dishes to suit everyone. The food was ordered and the staff did a wonderful job getting all the different dishes to the right person. Very professional . At the end of the evening the girls at the front desk had everyone's bill ready and the gratuity was included in the bill. My friend who hosted the party was really happy with the venue, and staff. I thought the staff went over and beyond with amazing efficient service. All though I do not live in West Kelowna I would recommend if you are planning a banquet, wedding, birthday or just a dinner meeting check the Holiday Inn located in West Kelowna and if I need accommodations I will certainly give my business to this property. Thank you to the wonder staff and the one person that should be thanked and mentioned is the chef, the appys where great loved them and I ordered the salmon which was delicious. Thank you chef. Road trip through bc and was very impressed. Perhaps a bit dated, but the rooms are huge. Breakfast at the independently owned restaurant is delicious! Boston pizza is next door but it can be very busy at night. Outdoor pool is wicked, overlooks the lake! Staff are very knowledgeable. Elevator is so busy, you'll be waiting a while to get a lift.

From check in to check out our stay was wonderful. Our room 322. Had jacuzzi in and separate bedroom with a king bed. The bed was the most comfortable bed we ever slept on in a hotel. Amazing. The room was very quiet. We were located at the back of building away from the highway.
