We checked in or “attempted” to check into the Grand Solmar on a Thursday afternoon. This was a short getaway for us since we were leaving on Saturday morning so time was of the essence. My initial impression of the resort was it was very clean and obviously new. We were looking forward to our stay. Our excitement however ended once we tried to check in. Upon checking in the resort employee asked for my verification code. I presented my verification code that I received from Orbitz after booking and paying “in full” for our vacation a week prior. I was met with a “sir we don’t recognize that verification code please contact your agency”. I was taken back. I then called Orbitz and was informed that the wait time was going to be 4hrs. In disbelief I told the resort employee and they said there was nothing they could do. So I essentially was told to wait in the hotel lobby for 4hrs until I could fix the issue. First off why was it my responsibility to fix an common issue between the resort and Orbitz? Secondly the resort had all my information. They saw what room I paid for, the dates we were staying, but because they didn’t recognize the verification code I spent nearly two hours of my vacation that I paid for upfront trying to sort out their discrepancy. This ruined our vacation. I will never ever go back to this resort or recommend it to anyone. On top of that once the issue was rectified and they saw that I indeed had a reservation they didn’t offer to comp anything.
Beautiful new property. Very big. Luxurious. Lots of pools that never felt crowded. Quiet.
This property / resort is incredible, with beautiful views, very large rooms with kitchenette and all the amenities. The staff is extremely nice and helpful! The pool area is INSANE in the most positive way. They have a giant water slide for teens and adults, and a baby pool with fun sprinklers to play. The resort is located right on the beach so you can hear the waves crash and watch the sunset on the horizon. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and other food areas on the property and lovely outdoor areas.
Property is still under development but none of new construction deterred from our experience. Concierge service was very good and they set us up with excursions that we enjoyed. You can also use the pool and restaurant facilities at the sister hotel Grand Solmar Cabo San Lucas which has a completely different atmosphere. .

Dear Mr Neel It is very dissapointing to read about your experience. First of all we offer our apologies if you felt that we did not assist you at check in time. Nevertheless, what we can confirm with you is that our staff did everything they can to assist you at check in. Your reservation was under the last name Richard, so they call reservation to see what happen as they did not have any reservation under your last name. This was resolved in a few minutes when you share your booking reservation to the front desk. What happen next was an issue with the meal plan package that in this case it was not included in your rate and your agency should be more clear on the reservation process. Front desk made an exception to sell you the meal plan for one day instead of the minimum three days. We would love to speak with you about this situation to clarify all of this. Our manager on duty Alejos was in contact with you regarding this. Nevertheless for us it will be important to clarify this and fix this situation for you. We will contact you as soon as possible.
