The Hotel is nice, small, dated, but very pleasant and not real crowded. The Bartenders make very watered down drinks - not at all worth the money if one is not on all inclusive plan. Food was good, but didn't eat much as it was also expensive by an American's standard. The days of getting anything cheap in Mexico are over for sure. Staff was very nice.

we had a wonderful time. the food and staff are awesome!

On the whole it is a nice hotel. It’s very clean and the beds are really comfy. The only major downfall is the food. It’s not terrible but it’s totally mediocre and there’s only one restaurant so you whip through the options pretty quick.

The hotel grounds were beautiful and staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are a bit outdated but overall clean. The location is perfect, close to the marina & downtown but bring your walking shoes because it’s located on a cliff so anytime you leave you’ll need to walk up & down the cliff! If you’re looking kid friendly places this isn’t it, the pool is the only kid friendly activity. My only complaint is the pool closes at 9 and after 9 you’ll have to go downtown for a drink/bite to eat - everything is closed on the resort at 9. Overall I would stay here again!

I just went on a trip with my sister. We had a great time.

Wonderful resort on the Pacific side of the tip of the Baja, meaning no swimming in the ocean due to severe riptides. So, if no ocean swimming is not an issue for you, then you are in for a treat. The resort is very old meaning full of Mexican charm, tile, doors that are not “square” etc. however, the resort is meticulously maintained. Rooms are huge, clean and the bed the best ever. What keeps us coming back for five years now, is the staff. Wow, they are so friendly and attentive to every need. From the grounds keepers to the El Hefe they are always happy and smiling. The food is excellent. The location perfect as the marina is a ten minute walk. The resort is very quiet, no “night life”, but you can find it in the marina. We do all inclusive, so we have every meal at the resort, except for the three buffet/party nights per week when we go to town for dinner. The buffets are not good. Otherwise the food is excellent all ordered off a menu. We stay two weeks, but that is not long enough! The whale watching in January is amazing! It is a very quiet small resort (100 rooms). The beach is great for walking and is often patrolled as sometimes they do not want you anywhere near the water as there are rogue waves that have taken lives. This resort is at the tip of the Baja so the rock formations are incredible. The adventurous can climb over the rocks to divorce beach and to lovers beach then take a water taxi to view the arch then back to the marina. Solmar is the best!

Our stay at Solmar was great! The resort itself is an older resort so the room was not "modern" but it was still comfortable and nice. The staff is AMAZING! They are very friendly and left personal touches, like balloons, streamers and "Happy Birthday" written on the bed spread in colorful aquarium type rocks on my birthday. We are already planning our next trip back.

Hotel is beautiful well maintained bed is comfortable room is out dated and a little dark when curtain are closed, restaurant on the beach and food was good

The resort is beautiful, the scenery is amazing and the staff is very friendly. This part was perfect! But get ready for the timeshare sales pitch. It starts a few minutes after checking in. Very friendly staff in the resort lobby starts trying to get you to attend one of their presentations for a timeshare. Of course, offering free this or that, the more you resist, the more free stuff she has to give you. After not agreeing to attend the presentation on this initial encounter, day two at the resort comes. We are spotted by the same, very friendly and very aggressive rep again about attending the presentation. Again, we do not agree to attend. Day three comes, a different rep approaches us again about attending the timeshare presentation. By day four we have figured out our way to the pool to avoid the reps pushing the timeshares. We booked this resort through Orbitz, not through any kind of deal to get discounted or free nights to attend a presentation. Very much turned off by the aggressive approach to try to sell us a timeshare. I can only imagine the pressure to buy had we agreed to attend one of the presentations! Also, as info, there are different resorts within Solmar. They all flow together seamlessly and all look beautiful and well maintained. Know that, you will NOT be allowed to use the amenities at the other Solmar resort (Grand Solmar). Not to worry, they will let you spend your money in the restaurants and bars over there.

Solmar was quite booked for our reserved stay. They had a wedding there so when we checked in, they told us that as owners at their sister resort, Playa Grande, they would upgrade us. The hotel staff checked us in and then accompanied us to Playa Grande to check us in there. Staff was so friendly and accommodating. Love Solmar resorts!

Units were built in the 70,s ...little dated, but excellent resort and staff to make your stay so enjoyable.

The first room I had was very smelly. The second room was better, but the resort has an overall dated feel to it.

Stayed at Solmar with an all-inclusive package for 6 nights. The all-inclusive is recommended, otherwise they have ridiculous prices for food/drinks. The room was clean, spacious, and housekeeping staff were excellent at cleaning daily. The food from the Tejaban restaurant was well prepared and seemed to be good quality. Waitstaff and hostess were all friendly, attentive, and accomodating. All drinks from the bar were weak and sugary. After the first day I started ordering extra side shots of liquor to pour into the mixed drinks I ordered and balance them out. Avoid the swimming pool. There was foamy scum and debris floating in it by the afternoon and evening. Also, it was very warm. You can take a free shuttle to the Playa Grande Hotel which has multiple very large, clean pools and an overall more pleasing and entertaining atmosphere with activities and games. You don't however receive free drinks there with your Solmar all inclusive. The worst part was the Grand Solmar resort next door, the main reason I would not come back to Solmar. The timeshare people constantly pressure you while walking around the entrance to take their tour/presentation. Our "tour" consisted of mediocre breakfast, an older American man who insulted Mexican laborers several times, and multiple pushy salesman. Don't come here to spend time on the beach, the Pacific is too rough for swimming and the resorts do everything they can to try to keep you off the beach.

Thet people incharged of sealing the time shares pressure and insist alot.. even after we said no...we had to hide from a lady every time we pass by the lobby..

Older but well maintained. Friendly staff and short walk to downtown. Great for budget travel.

Good place to stay for the price. They need more bars at the facility and a shuttle down the hill would have been nice.

Great place for wedding and all guests! We had a blast

Nice Hotel, great location , right on the beach. The staff was great

I was pleased with the grounds and the close proximity to ocean beauty. Disappointed my room didn't have a tv in the living room, and sofa was really worn. I spent a majority of our time on the go or down in the pool areas. I would. It let this deter you, as the property is great.

We had a wonderful, relaxing time at Solmar. Everyone is so nice and the service is excellent. We enjoyed the theme night buffets but also enjoyed quiet meals at the upper pool restaurant. We looked forward to waking up and enjoying our ocean view with morning coffee.

Dear Mr. Ray: First of all, I thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am very sorry to know that the customer service from our team, the cleaning of the property and the beauty of our location have been overshadowed by the performance of external timeshare sales staff. I have already talked with their marketing director to handle the approach to our guests in a different way to avoid these types of inconveniences. Thank you very much for your comments, we hope to have the honor of your visit and the opportunity to provide you an even better experience. Respectfully Luis Alvarez General manager
