I had a medical emergency with my 86 year old mother and my husband came down alone. They refused to let him into OUR room!!! After hours of trying to explain, they made him pay an additional $650 to stay in his daughters room. DISGUSTING hotel, DISGUSTING staff, DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE! Will NEVER stay here again or recommend RIU

It was a beautiful resort. Didn't mind that the decor was either outdated or tacky. Staff was as cordial as they needed to be but not friendly. Can't say I blame them since they're watching people enjoy themselves all day. If you like sitting by a pool and drinking and eating all day this is the place for you. Otherwise, you're going to be pretty bored. There's literally nothing going on outside of the resort and it appears reasonably unsafe if you're not on the property. National guard and police everywhere beyond the borders of the resort. All in all I prefer the beaches on the Gulf of Mexico - Clearwater and St. Pete's. Riu does do a good job of making sure you have what you need. Staff will not go above and beyond. I asked for another coffee packet for the room and the cleaning lady said no you already have one.

We had a wonderful experience! Everyone that works there, works so hard to make it look nice and to help everyone have a nice time. The only downside were some of the speciality restaurants were a little lack luster other than that it is a great place for a family getaway, our little guy had the best time and so did we!

Nice hotel, staff was great, food/drinks were ok but our room needs some upgrades for example the tiles in our bathroom were cracked.

Overall, The property was beautiful everything was taken care of and look very nice. The only issue I had was when I first arrived My safe was an operable. I contacted the front they sent someone that came up rather quickly and realized I needed a battery. They said someone would be back in 20-30 mins.(That is fine) I waited but didn't come back and the group I was with was already at one of our scheduled events. So I had to take all my documents I wanted to leave in the safe with me. I even stopped by the front desk on my way to the event to let them know they hadn't been back and it was okay to send someone but when I got back later that night it still was not fixed. They also sent an email saying I had a do not disturb sign on my door but it was my neighbor's door. I just chalked it up to not paying attention to where you were supposed to go. Or the room number So next morning I went out with documents again and they assured me someone would be up to have it fixed before I returned. After going to the gym and coming back in it was fixed so I was able to use the safe. I didn't have any other problems after that. That was my only issue.
