AVOID AT ALL COSTS WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER
I booked through instant booking and received confirmation. I sent a message, host well aware of the booking. I sent another message the day before our check in, ONLY 2 RECEIVE A PHONECALL THROUGH A PRIVATE PHONE TO SAY " I'M NOT EXPECTING YOU, PROPERTY NOT AVAILABLE, DO NOT BOTHER TO COME". SHE TOOK OUR MONEY AND STUBBORLY REFUSED TO REIMBURSE IT, AS SHE WAS COUNTING ON US NOT TO TURN UP at the property which would have resulted in US not been available, hence no right to refund, she hoped. I called vrbo,explained the situation. We could not access the propety.In order to get either relocation help or a refund, they needed the host's confirmation that she has cancelled on us. After several attempts on their behalf, SHE DENIED that,also in order to avoid vrbo charges and penalties I presume. "Well",I said to
vrbo and wrote to her "if that is the case, let's arrange check in". She did not reply for days. We found ourselves with a 2 year old and a 10 month old at the airport, not knowing where to go , and then to a hotel room for several days.
Because of the games she was playing ie not cancelling the booking on the website formally FALSELY INDICATING VRBO THAT THE PROPERTY IS AVAILABLE FOR US AND THEN GHOSTING US AS WELL AS VRBO, it took vrbo ages to get to the bottom of it and finally help us. At the end, she told vrbo that she was not aware of the booking! Well, some of her neighbours were made aware, and were not surprised. She is known to be "a very unpleasant woman".
