Room was internal, no natural light, furniture was very battered, minibar outer door didn’t close, desk war-torn with drawer that didn’t close, paintwork very distressed, carpet stained, shower fittings wonky, old TV and unreliable internet. Room service poor. It feels as though the property is in dire straits financially and cutting back on everything - under-staffed and over-priced.

We were checked in 2 hours late. We get to the room (Deluxe Suite)and there is a distinct sewage smell, plus no robes or slippers as described on website and could not get blinds to operate in bedroom. We report this to reception who straightaway offer a 30% discount as if they knew there was going to be a problem. We ask for a clean of the bathroom and the sofa bed to be made up - we leave at 6pm, are back at 9.30pm - sofa bed linens have been put in room but bed has not been made nor has bathroom been cleaned - notify front desk, this is then done after 30 mins. This is only the experience of the first 6 hours of being here. Saturday - Ask front desk if we can have room cleaned at 5pm as it has not yet been done - get back at 11.30pm, clean has not happened. Ask for fresh towels at front desk, they arrive at 0.15am. This is the most I have spent on a single room in a hotel, and the single worst experience I have had at a hotel. The room should not have been sold to us in the condition it was in. 30% only covers the cost of the upgrade of the room, which was not worth the price. They could not offer alternative rooms due to being fully booked.

Lovely room, as always Only downside, was the bar closed early, and several days too early ( 10.30, when said it was open untill 11 ) So we didnt get to use our drinks coupons

In general the hotel is very outdated. I was unlucky and got a disability room, which had missing comfort in the bath room. There was only one tap with cold water, the bathroom was run-down, and there was some kind of fresh, unidentifiable dirt on the shower curtain. Breakfast used to be better, too. That was my last time staying at the Dorsett.

Property amenities were good. We had suites and they were very quiet and comfortable. No external windows though which some people might not like - we overlooked the bar area. Items provided were not as per Expedia listing - no bath robes or coffee machine in our room. Other people on our party had no bottled water in their room. When they called down for some, staff member was very rude and said “hope you’re not expecting them for free “ (even though it was supposed to be included in room). When they were delivered staff member just walked into room without knocking and put them on table and walked out. Breakfast was nice, but most of it cold, and items kept running out.

Seems the hotel lobby is the only thing this hotel looks after. Upon arrival to the room, it was immediately clear that the room had not been properly cleaned. There was visible limescale on the shower taps and fittings, and mould on the walls, These conditions raise both hygiene and maintenance concerns. I’d not stay here again.

When we went into the hotel the lobby looked lovely but the problems unfortunately started when we entered the room. There was no hand soap or body wash and the drains smelt in the bathroom. We were heading out so didn’t get time to mention this to reception at the time but thought we’d speak to them when we got back. We arrived back a few hours later and spoke to reception immediately about this hoping the problem would be resolved quite quickly. We went back to our room for this to be sorted and noticed the pungent smell had got a lot worse. It smelt like drains and we were concerned a pipe had burst somewhere near the toilet or shower, drain the smell was that overpowering. We went back down to reception after about 30 minutes of trying to work out if we could deal with this and stay in the room, but we would not be able to sleep and we were also concerned about the nature of the smell and if it would be bad for us to sleep in a room with these fumes. When we spoke to reception, they saw we were two young girls and didn’t quite take us seriously and offered to get cleaning in to spray the room and bring in an air freshener. We walked away from reception feeling really dissatisfied and like we hadn’t been taken seriously. We waited for 30 minutes before speaking to reception again to say we really weren’t happy with staying in this room and that nothing had been done yet to solve it. We had to ask for another room, to which we were initially denied before they found us one.
