I have recently come back from a girls weekend away in London. We decided to stay in the Dorsett as my cousin is a regular guest here. The hotel itself is lovely, i love the birds on the doors of each room very cute!! Our rooms were lovely and the location could not be more ideal for shopping and dinner which is exactly what we were there for. The breakfast was really good also but what really stood out for all of us and that is five girls! was a staff member we chatted to and whom served us at breakfast. His name was Airjit and for us that is what we came away talking about. He was so pleasant and accommodating that i just had to write a review simply to mention him so i asked for his name. the second morning we were late for breakfast as we slept in so we arrived at 11:03 am and i kid you not everything was finished and mostly cleared away. I know a finishing time is there for a reason but i work in the hotel business and we would certainly allow our guests at least 10 minutes grace. This was 3 minutes! The manager on duty did not hold back on whisking away the croissants and bread and made it clear in her manner that we would not be served. It was in fact Airjit that so nicely came over to us and offered us cereal and bread and asked if we would like any pastries as did the chef. The girls that were also on duty kindly got us tea and coffee so it was the floor staff that allowed us to have our breakfast which we were very grateful for. The manager did not engage with us at all. So a massive thank you guys and especially to Airjit. They are lucky to have you!
I got a decent deal for two rooms for six nights. I expected the good deal was due to the location, which - while convenient - is far removed from most sites and attractions. Unfortunately, this hotel - as too many modern hotels do - favors form over function and there are many important features that are lacking here. First, big pet peeve of mine, maybe half of the rooms look into the center atrium and have no functioning windows or natural light. I wish all hotels had a policy of disclosing this important fact at the time of booking and again when rooms are assigned. I find the inability to get fresh air or natural light, or even see the weather outside, to be a major detriment. The rooms, while well-appointed and tastefully decorated, are not well-designed for guest comfort and enjoyment. The small showers have enormous rain shower heads, which leave no where to escape the water. There are lots of switches for lights, but none that work all the lights. There are refrigerators and tea kettles in the room, but ice has to ordered from room service. Rooms are small, which is not a problem, but there is very little shelf or drawer space. Most problematic of all was the haphazard service. It seems to me that this hotel is having some labor and training issues. While most of the staff was helpful and friendly, some were equally befuddled and clueless. Every morning at breakfast it was impossible to get coffee refills without either going over to the waiter service station and refilling it myself, or spend 5 minutes flagging down a waiter or busboy. I specifically requested rooms with a connecting door, as I was traveling with my godkids, but was assigned separate rooms initially, until I re-requested connected rooms. Despite the fact that I tipped the cleaning people, they were never able to correctly clean the room. Dirty mugs and dishes were never cleared away, and none of the coffee, tea or sugars were ever replenished, except by special request. Each time they would apologize and say that they’d make sure the cleaning lady was told to leave these supplies....and yet it never happened. I assumed maybe it was their policy, but was told it was not. I liked the location on Shepherds Bush Green. It’s a real neighborhood with lots of great small restaurants and shops. And the bed linens and toiletries were of high quality. Unfortunately all-in-all think I could have done better at a Hilton of even a Doubletree.
Very poor service - everything was slow and disinterested. No one at bar to take our orders - waited in total 35 minutes to order and be served our drinks - to a dirty table which hadn't been cleaned. Our bathroom had a mirror that was broken in several places and was badly held together with sellotape - like in a dodgy b and b rather than a luxury hotel. When we mentioned all this at check out, the member of staff was just as slow and disinterested as others. This was a birthday present for my sister and I fele embarrassed that I had chosen this hotel - we should have stayed in a more reliable luxury hotel.
Nice room, nice staff. Booked through hotels.com but they double charged me. Tried to get in touch twice via email but no-one has got back. No receipt issued, nor notification of the charge, they just took it from my account after I had checked out without checking if I'd already paid. Extremely unprofessional and (I think) illegal.
A one-night stopover ahead of an event I was running at Westfield the day after. Convenient location; prompt check-in. Room: a first floor room that had been adapted primarily for disabled person use, which was ok, but a little off-putting with red wires hanging down from the ceiling, no toilet seat etc. My colleagues all had the same. Not really a room designed for business use - but satisfactory for the price.
This may not be the first Dorsett Hotel we have stayed in but it is the first (for us) with a distinctive "Bird Theme"! The bedside table lamp, desk top lamp, the door number and the wall paper are all bird themed and elegantly appointed. The room is reasonable big with ample walking space even with our luggage in tow. The Cafe or coffee house is filled with natural light and serves great breakfast, It is also walking distance to Westfield Shopping Center but quite a distance from downtown London. Overall, a 4-star experience in accommodation, amenities and breakfast.
This hotel was a perfect match for a weekend break. Service and check in was quick, friendly and efficient. The standard rooms are a bit on the small side with small beds. ( 70 cms wide for single beds). Executive rooms are very nice in size. Rooms were clean and the bathrooms modern. Friendly staff. The breakfast buffet had everything you need, but as with all buffes, you need to be there when they put the food out, otherwise i can get a bit dry and tasteless after sitting on the coutners for a while. But you get what you pay for at this price.
Following reading reviews on TripAdvisor we chose this hotel for a weekend breakend break. Check in very quick and a room was available straight away so we went to our room on the 5th floor. Lovely and clean with modern decor. The bed was comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The breakfast is buffet style with cereals, cold meats & cheese and traditional cooked English which was all 'hot'. The staff on the front desk was very helpful and polite.
The room was clean and nicely decorated, very comfortable bed, had no problems with the staff. We stayed in a room where the window faced into the hotel lobby, which was fine but there’s no natural light so in the morning it feels like 3am. Short walk from the tube station, which is on a good line, although the walk doesn’t feel the safest at night. Overall, would stay again😊
For a 4-Star hotel, this is good value for money. The room was clean and stylishly decorated in a pastel-themed Chinese style. Very nice. We couldn’t fault the bed and beddings. They were first class quality. Same with the wonderful bathroom and the amenities in it. Our sleep was very comfortable. The WiFi in our room was excellent - fast and reliable, Their breakfast have our thumbs up. It not just have the usual continental and traditional English fares but also some unusual items like congee, porridge, stir fried noodles ! Their hot chocolate is of the dark kind - my type. We wished we could stay longer and try their spa and their afternoon tea in the cafe/bar. Also it is a very convenient walking distance from Westfield shopping centre. They also have valet parking for £25/day.
