I had been a tad skeptical about having a day at a hotel spa, how wrong I was. The staff at Liverpool were immensely friendly, as soon as I entered I could feel myself relax. Great facilities and treatments, followed by an afternoon tea that was so generous I couldn't finish it. I didn't want to leave!.
I stay in a lot of hotels and I have stayed in a lot of Doubletrees over the years. I loved my stay here. Lovely old building has had investment in it rather than a new faceless block of glass! Lovely staff, from the lady from Dunfermline at check in, who actually cared how my day had been - to the fantastic local lady at breakfast who was hugely attentive. Didn’t eat at the restaurant as menu wasn’t online (you need to sort that), but the hotel was great! Will definitely stay again, well done guys, a lovely nights stay.
I met my husband John in Liverpool 44 years ago. We decided to return and visit some of our old haunts. We stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton on Sir Thomas Street. What an amazing hotel!! When I lived in Liverpool it was old council offices. It has been beautifully renovated. Our room was very comfortable with a huge bathroom . The home baked cookie is a nice touch when you check in.The receptionists are very welcoming and friendly. Elise and Sheila were extremely helpful at breakfast . They couldn't do enough for us. I'd like to mention in particular, the concierge, Billy Parr. He has a great sense of humour, for an Everton supporter ,( I know he won't take offence at this!!!!). He recommended places to go on our first day, one of the best being The Posthouse just around the corner. We had heard that there was an amazing library in the building. He took us on a tour of all the rooms in the hotel that aren't generally open to the public. It was very unrushed and he was so informative. Once again thank you to the Doubletree for a wonderful visit !
I don't normally leave reviews however I had to make an exception for the DoubleTree in Liverpool. The whole experience was fantastic. Check-in was super quick and smooth with a free warm cookie, the staff were friendly and attentive. In the room, I'm delighted the staff were able to accommodate my requests and provide us with a beautiful room with high ceilings and separate shower/bath and took note that it was my girlfriend's birthday and left a slice of cheesecake in the room for us upon arrival, this was a great thoughtful gesture which was most appreciated. Moments later we received a call from the concierge to check if we were settled into the room and if we needed anything to give him a call, again not necessary but a wonderful personal touch. We opted to get some spa treatments as we noticed they were 50% off on that particular day, we opted for 2 full body massages. They were wonderful and catered to our exact requirements, not just generic back/legs/shoulders. I had some knots in my upper back and my masseuse suggested a full back/shoulders and scalp massage, and it was honestly one of the best I have had. The hydrotherapy pool was great, not crowded at all. The jets were extremely powerful and massaging, and the jacuzzi is big and hot (37-39c). Breakfast was a bit smaller than the typical Hilton breakfast spread, but it was more relaxed, we were told we could sit wherever we liked and to help ourselves straight away. I ordered a few things which were not included in the buffet but the staff were happy to accommodate these requests and the food came out quickly. Overall we had a fantastic experience and I will not hesitate to book again in the future!
The first stop on my visit to Liverpool was the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Liverpool. We were greeted by a very sharply dressed doorman as we exited our car from the John Lennon Airport, Our bags were whisked off to our room while we checked in. When all the paperwork was completed, we were handed our room key and two freshly warmed chocolate chocolate chip cookies. Our room was on the seventh floor and offered a wonderful view of the centre of the city. After a long day of travel our room did not disappoint. We did have a fun time trying to get the lights in the room to go on. Linda finally figured out that we needed to insert our room key(card) into a electronic holder to power the room. The cleanliness of room was immaculate. What I enjoyed most was the walk in shower, with rain forest shower head and a handheld shower sprayer. The only negative about the shower and I find this a common issue is there was no clear markings for hot or cold and for turning on the water. Experimentation was required to find the sweet spots for both but they were there. Water pressure was great ! We choose to have breakfast at the hotel two of the mornings we were there. Upon check in we were told it was 17 pounds without prior notice and 12 pounds if we requested it the night before. That being said the first night we were exhausted and crashed. We enjoyed the buffet style breakfast that was served and the pleasant courtesy of the wait staff for our coffee and tea. Since our experience was so good we called ahead for the second breakfast. Upon our checkout however, we noticed that we were charged not only the higher amount for breakfast number one but we were also charged for a breakfast we never had on our second day of our stay. I'm still not quite sure if it was straightened out correctly financially speaking but I wouldn't let this one small problem color my view of our stay. My request on that matter is change the pricing policy, guests of the hotel 12 pounds, non guests 17 pounds. Simple pricing, happy guest.
Quiet area with a 5 minute walk to Mathew Street bars, shopping and 8 minutes to Albert Docks. Great place to stay with comfortable beds and upgraded clean and tidy rooms with a spacious bathroom. Well worth a stay
Stayed here for 3 nights over the Grand National weekend. We found the hotel comfortable, very clean, a cozy feel to it and nice staff. The bed was comfortable and great bathroom/shower. Slept well all 3 nights. Great spot to stay and we would certainly stay at this hotel again
Have not written many recent reviews but felt compelled to do so after a very positive experience here on a business / family stay. Originally booked for one night only for 4 of us, due to no online availability, but Daniel on front desk managed to accommodate us for an extra couple of nights with some creative room adjustments. As a Hilton Diamond member I am fortunate enough to experience very good service from Hiltons generally, but this was my best experience by far. Daniel excelled himself and really made us feel welcome and special. Nothing was too much trouble and he is a really nice and genuine guy who clearly enjoys his role and is a great ambassador for this hotel. I do have to add that all staff were professional and courteous throughout our stay. The hotel itself was fabulous. Beautifully restored and full of architectural splendour. It was a treat to stay in such a special environment usually only seen in the high end London hotels. I was looking to book the big Hilton in town but it was full so we stayed here and were very pleased we did. Unfortunately we did not have time to enjoy the spa or pool so hopefully next time. A great location and close to everything you need including shopping, Mathew Street and all the top restaurants in and around Castle Street. A couple of comments to balance my review....the breakfast team were too stretched and service and food replenishment was very slow. Not a problem at the 7am breakfast but noticeably worse when we sat down at 9.30. And no option to order a poached egg and I was told one morning they had no green tea, which was pretty poor.....but they were stretched so I didn't escalate. The cherry on the cake here would be an exec lounge to provide an environment for its loyal Hilton guests. Overall excellent value for money and looking forward to going back. Thank you
We had to book this place last minute because of a system error when booking for another place. I found the booking system very easy and friendly. When we arrived later the same day we were treated to freshly baked cookies. In addition it was my partners birthday so the reception staff very kindly sent two glasses of Prosecco up to our room. I couldn’t find anything particularly wrong with this hotel and I found the experience very pleasurable and relaxing. One thing that I should mention is that there is a small payment required to use the Spa. My partner and I were the only two in the spa for an hour when we used it, so we had a great time there.
My friend and I booked a night away in Liverpool for a birthday treat. I hadn't stayed at the Liverpool DoubleTree previously having usually stayed at the Hilton nearer the Albert Dock. I was very impressed by the welcome the decor in the entrance and the friendly staff. Our room wasn't ready on arrival (we arrived early by train) but our bags were whisked away so we could go and enjoy a late lunch. On our return our room was ready and it was beautiful, clean, lovely fixtures and fittings, amazing bathroom and useful facilities including, fridge, safe etc. They had even left a welcome note and a happy birthday message with a small selection of cakes. Such a lovely touch! The following morning when we went down for breakfast we were a little disappointed and this is why my review has been marked down from a 5 to a 4. We had to seat ourselves and when we tracked a member of staff down we had to ask a them to bring us over some tea and coffee. I was also disappointed that couldn't offer any alternatives such as poached or boiled eggs and there wasn't a lot of food under the heaters so people were standing around waiting. As a vegetarian there were some alternatives on the cooked breakfast offering but the bowls were empty and were not refilled whilst we were there. I don't know if the kitchen was understaffed or if there was a problem, I felt this let it down although the staff that were there at the breakfast service were all very friendly. We checked out and were able to leave our luggage for the day which was really handy and when we returned to collect it once again the staff were really helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel for location, convenience and the warm welcoming staff.
