I liked the location and layout, front lady was awesome when i checked in, black . morning was uncomfortable. Restaurant definaly needs to be trained in customer service. We just stayed in room, the room was cool it was the presidential suite.

I was curious to see if anything had changed since their is a new ownership. While I can appreciate that it takes time to renovate the poor service is no excuse. From check in to the bar to the restaurant the staff is not engaged you can tell they don’t want to be there and nobody is helpful. The location is amazing, the food was improved from last ownership but that’s it. The air conditioning was broken in our room and nobody bothered to tell us. Check in was a disaster when we got to our room the cleaning staff was still in there although it was way past 4pm. Restaurant was empty at 8pm but the kitchen was “backed up” and we had to wait 30 min before our order could be taken. Same at the bar it roll 15 min to get the attention of one of the 3 people behind the bar who clearly did not care about service. The hotel is falling apart, exposed wires outside... I could go on.

The staff were all exceptional and the food was delicious. However, the property says it is going through a renovation (I never saw any workers or was aware of any work being done), as a result, the pond was drained and a horrible, foul smell was coming from the pond in the from of the property. The smell was so intrusive, you could smell it on the patio in the back of the hotel. The hotel did give me a food voucher for the inconvenience of the smell and I thought that was a wonderful gesture.

There’s nothin good to say about my stay. I will never be back.

Loved the natural setting close to hiking trails. Liked that they are updating facilities.

No room amenities, no hotel amenities. Bed was horrible and sunk in.

Furniture was scratched and beaten up. However, as a rustic place, it was not unacceptable.

WiFi was a bit sketchy and no coffee in the room. Other than that, we loved it. Beautiful area, quiet room, sunset from the balcony and friendly staff. We’ll be back.

I loved the location and the age of the property. A lot of history there and being so close to a city that changes its appearance every few years it was nice to be somewhere thst has been around for a very long time. If they could figure out a pool and spa situation that would mqkr it even better but i was quite satisfied with it just as it was.

Friendly staff. My son had kids meal burger and fries. Food was hard and tasted old. This place has alot of potential but kitchen needs a little help.

I know the place is old but the front desk is not even welcoming, it seems like she’s upset or something.... And then our room was spooky, we just left the room to look at the snow and when we came back there was a mud in the sink, the engineer took awhile and then couldn’t explain what happened... He cleaned the sink but that’s all they offered...

Muy bueno y el restaurante muy buena la comida!!!!!!!

Hotel is about to start renovations next month. Great quiet place to relax. Rooms definitely need the renovations. Staff is unbelievably nice. Can’t wait to return.

it wasn't what we expected... i won't stay there again

The place is older but it's so beautiful up there. Wish things were open. 24hrs but I get it

The hotel had a nice outdoorsy theme with a log cabin feel, lots taxidermy pieces and great views of the surrounding nature. My bed however had a dip in the middle which made things a little less comfortable.

We do apologize for the pond smell during your stay. It was an unforeseen result of all the rain that came. We have taken care of it, and we are continuing to improve The Retreat for our guests. We do hope to see you again.

Thank you for your review. With the new ownership, the Spa will be opened again with plans to add a pool. Our suites are to be renovated with Jacuzzis as well. We do apologize for your front desk experience. Training is our high priority and goal which we are constantly working on in this transition.
