Stayed her for 2 nights at the end of October 2017. Having booked 4 family rooms through Britania's own website imagine my horror when on booking in. We were given a smoking room despite this never being mentioned whilst taking my bookings, The walls were yellow and the smell disgusting. On complaining and stating I could not believe rooms where you are allowed to smoke exsisted I was told the hotel room is the same as your own home which differed from the sign on the door saying no food or drink allowed in the hotel. Still I pressed ahead for another room. The receptionist obviously not wearing a name badge to allow her to be as rude as she liked told me I should of put non smoking on the booking form when I said I didn't believe there were such things as smoking rooms any more she told me she was the manager and she could cancel my booking. I had come to inter my mothers ashes so was not able to take this level of hostility but wish now I had challenged her The room was old tired and the shower just trickled out lukewarm water and the bed was so hard it was painful The restaurant was pleasant and the food very good although service was very slow and Decafe coffee was beyond them I had to supply my own The lift is small inadequate for the size of the hotel had to carry the pram up and down 3 flights of stairs The rooms were really uncomfortably hot and even turning the radiator down did little to make the temperature cooler Basically if you want hard beds too warm to sleep comfortably windows that don't open and very rude staff. Then stay here
Ok so I wouldn't say that this was an amazing experience but to be fair for the money that we paid this was more than ok. The hotel looked grand from the outside and was an old lady that had seen better times. After reading reviews I was expecting a dump but really it was ok. We had room 205 and it was fine. Big family room with 2 doubles and and a single bed. Bathroom not amazing but adequate. Food not the best but again more than adequate. Great entertainment with the tribute acts and bar at 99p for 3 hours so really what more can you ask for. You get what you pay for so people don't moan. Staff so friendly and we all had a great weekend. Would more than likely stay here again for a cheap and cheerful break in Blackpool.
Me and my mum stayed here for 2 nights on a National Holidays trip in October, after reading the reviews we were a little concerned but we had a brilliant weekend, the hotel room we had was tired, the carpet was marked and the walls were stained with what looked like an old water leak and the towel rail fell off in the bathroom when I removed the towel but the room was clean and warm, we had a view of the illuminations, lots of hot water, lovely bath, the staff were lovely and so was the food all except the fish on the first night of our stay so all in all we enjoyed our visit, straight opposite a tram stop as well which was very handy especially with the wind and rain we had on the Saturday!
We booked into this hotel for one night only, as we were looking after our grandsons who live in blackpool during the day on Saturday and Sunday while their mum and dad were at work, we don't live in Blackpool so we thought an overnight stay, a nice meal would be very nice, we booked on line, on arrival we were greeted with 'that's £79 outstanding to pay' we hadn't even put our overnight bag down, no welcome or enjoy your stay with us, I thought how very rude, we paid and were given room 205, the receptionist could not wait to get rid of us so it seemed, we asked for a 06.00 call, with eyes to the ceiling 'it will be a knock n the door', we were informed, ok we said, we arrived in our room, oh dear it was shabby, dated, staining carpet, broken window, loo seat not secure, sink tap not fixed, yes you get the picture h what a nightmare, we spoke to the male receptionist as we left the building to go out for an evening meal, we told him we were not happy at the state on the room, he gave us an email address to contact if we were not happy, turned and left us standing there, we went for our meal on return to this hotel we again and for a second time confirmed that an early called was booked, ths time we were informed yes you will get a phone call, we returned to our room, now the air conditioning system below our room was on full, so loud, we almost packed our bags and left, unfortunately we had no where else to go, the noise went on an on until approximately 02.00 when we finally got to sleep, lucky we woke up in time to showers etc before leaving at 06.45 to care for the children, no early call was ever received, we left the room key on the counter as we left as there was no be around, I did contacted the operations manger re the email address, stating all these issues prior to writing this entry, I did get a reply apologising, and offering an upgrade on any future visit to the Savoy, which we declined, I would never stay in this dump again, save your money. We are a well travelled couple, and we have never needed to complain about accommodation anywhere, the Savoy Hotel is an absolute disgrace.
We stayed at the savoy hotel for the illuminations,well first impression of the hotel was it screams nursing home as the first thing you see is wheelchairs and Zimmer frames, we were shown to our rooms again disappointing as we asked for a walk in shower we got a shower with a really big step so was unable to use it as we were traveling with people not very good on their feet,we did go to reception who then offered us the use of a wet room,,the shower had a slip mat in the rooms who knows how long they had been in there and really would anyone want to use these after other people who may have even had verrucas... bathroom was also really dirty as I was in the bathroom noticed there was feaces on the door frame I did go to report this but as I got to reception they were very busy and I think overbooked so was all a little flustered,the next was dining room a bit petty really but not even table cloths anyway other thing was having to lean over food to get to the drinking glasses..... this hotel is really worn down and in desperate need of some new furniture ..only good thing about this hotel was the food.. would I stay again absolutely NOT
This is without doubt the worst hotel I have stayed in. I booked 2 double rooms 20 months in advance. On arrival I was offered 1 double and 1 single room. I had requested at the time of booking for the 2 rooms to be as close as possible. I was given 1 room on 1st floor at the front and the second on the 4th floor at the back. 1st floor room had a bath which had a sign over it saying it could not be used. The Windows are frosted sash windows 2 of which could not be opened and the 3rd would not stay open without a prop. No phone in room as advertised not an alarm. Electrical items pat test 12 months out of date.radiator on wall but connected to any pipework. Access key cards failed daily and had to be replaced. Paper peeling off walls and ceilings all over the hotel. Public toilets filthy broken window in front door. Air duct directly outside window in bedroom. If you are looking for a suitable boarding kennels for your pets I advise look elsewhere as there are better ones around
I stayed at this hotel as part of a package with Majestic tours, my friend and I had a twin room. The hotel was quite run down and tired, but it was the end of the season. It was very old and a lot of the original features were still visible, it must have been magnificent when it was new. Our room was adequate for what we wanted and clean. The food was well cooked with plenty of variety, so there was always something you could enjoy. Most of the staff were very good and friendly,(one of the receptionists was not very helpful) All in all we were very happy with our stay. Very good value for money
Food was good, service in the restaurant and bar was brilliant. Lift out of order for the whole of our stay, made life very difficult for disabled people, of which my husband is one. Decor very tired. One of only two disabled toilets was out of order. Hotel staff said we couldn't access evening entertainment, for which we had specifically gone for, but on our last night the organisers said that we could have gone in all week, just by asking them. We think a rebate should have been offered. We won't be going back.
Well after reading some of the reviews on here we expected the worst, but pleasantly surprised in the end. Our family room was great, double bed for man and dad, three single beds for the kids in a separate room, but all linked. The shower wasn't the best, it was very hot and the decor is showing its age...however, the food was lovely. Breakfast buffet constantly stocked, no foods left out for ages. Evening meal, again buffet, great value, good choice if your kids are not fussy and willing to try things. We really enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly. Yes you can see this hotel has seen better days, but don't let some of the reviews here put you off!
We were put in a smoking room and when we asked to be moved as we do not smoke advised no rooms available. This we found out later was incorrect as other rooms were available. We did not realise smoking rooms still existed. Shower went from normal to very very hot, dangerous for someone with poor mobility or a young child. Food was good and staff in restaurant were helpful.
