Stayed here pre cruise, it’s a very clean hotel just lacking in personality! Room was cold when we arrived as windows were open, but everything you could need, free WiFi very good! Dinner in Marco Pierre white was nice but not exceptional as you would expect! Just not tasty enough! Service was excellent by Valentina, breakfast usual buffet affair nothing amazing but functional, apparently I have read that they are having a refurb soon, changing the blue room carpets would be good! Would stay here again if in the area,

went to southampton 10-12 nov flew from glasgow on flybe, they need an overhaul on boarding pass as only one appeared, going back it was or so it seems an inconvienience to print passes out. anyway stayed in grand harbour, room was fine, hotel is going to get smartened up over the next 12 month & will be better for it. jacuzzi very hot ,breakfast -bacon could be warmer. manager was very pleasant, go back, yes we would

This is a lovely hotel shopping centre close by . Ideal for the port. The hotel has a lovely pool and jazzuci . The rooms are lovely and the breakfast was amazing . Staff very helpful and one of the cleaning staff went out of her way to get us towels and dressing gowns for the pool area .

Had a lovely room and the bed was comfortable, with a lovely light duvet which was just perfect, something which I have not experienced in a hotel for a long time. Had lunch and breakfast at the hotel and both were extremely good. Lovely buzz to the hotel and lots of smiling people. Staff were exceptionally helpful and attentive. I shall be going back soon I hope.

Our second visit for afternoon tea , and it was a fantastic experience again . The hotel is bueatiful , the staff are first class and the food was delicious. Plenty of sandwiches with various fillings . Three different sorts of cakes and scones cream and jam . We actually asked for a box to take the scones home in as we were full , and enjoyed them later . I would defiantly recommend this hotel .

We chose this place for one night befre a return to NY crossing in the QM2. We should have stayed another night in Amsterdam, flown in the early AM to London and taken a car service from Heathrow. This place gave me an overall feel of grottiness. Ugly decor , inattentive housekeeping, and worst, the food and indifferent restaurant service.Luckily, there are other hotels in other places.

Returning to Southampton after 20 years for a uni reunion, the obvious choice for us to stay was the Grand Harbour hotel. The hotel that as students we could never afford!! Such a shame, the hotel didn't live up to the dream we had!! The rooms were very clean, but the hallways smelled musty and looked tired. The bathroom in the room was mega tired. The shower was really poor. The bed was comfy and we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was a complete disaster. The queue to get in was long. The queue for the hot food was ridiculous too. They kept running out of sausages... then eggs.... then beans took forever to come. Surely they knew how many people they were expecting for breakfast? There seemed to be loads of staff working... but only one poor bloke rushing to keep refilling the buffet!! As soon as he came back with eggs, the sausage had run out... then the mushrooms again!!!! Crazy!! By the time I got beans, the rest of my breakfast was cold :( To be honest, I wish we'd paid the extra and stayed at the shiny new hotel in town!

Came to Southampton for one night to see the Take That musical The Band (brill!) with my 13 year-old daughter. The hotel was lovely! Our room was quiet and had a view over the Solent. It was well equipped and comfortable. We made use of the pool which was clean and pleasant, and we spent some time in the bar Hamptun, for pre-theatre snacks and drinks. From start to finish the staff were excellent: really helpful, friendly, accommodating and apologetic when there was a slight delay at breakfast due to the hotel being at full capacity. Despite the rush at breakfast (we came at the busiest time, which was expected as there were signs in the lifts indicating this), the coffee was delicious and the breakfast plentiful and lots of variety and freshly cooked. A small issue with my bill was quickly and graciously resolved and we were made to feel very welcome and that we had had real value for money. Well done team Grand Harbour - spot-on customer service.

I stayed at this hotel on business and also dined in their Marco Pierre White restaurant which was lovely! (I reviewed this separately) I must admit I was very impressed by the hotel. The location was ideal and when I arrived, the team were very welcoming and my room was clean and a good size. I didn’t use the spa and leisure facilities however they looked great from what I saw. I had a drink in the bar and again the staff were attentive and very professional. Breakfast was very nice with great choice and good quality. I will be sure to stay in this hotel again when next in Southampton on business or leisure for that matter.

Having booked in May for this 1 night stay I was very perturbed at seeing the previous reviews on TripAdvisor, which made me feel I didn’t want stay. However on checking in I mentioned the reviews & expressed my concerns, I asked them to ensure we had a decent room. Another member of staff came to help & immediately upgraded us. On going to the room we were given an executive room with balcony which was very large and clean and tidy. Regarding comments on the restaurant on TripAdvisor regarding Marco Pierre White‘s restaurant, we found the food to be satisfactory with only a couple of minor issues. The staff were very attentive and affable. The breakfast was also very good and the food was replenished at several intervals. On checking out we voiced our comments to the young lady at reception Chloe who noted them and added to our profile. On the whole we enjoyed our visit and my husband appreciated the leisure facilities using them twice.
