Had a fabulous long weekend for husbands birthday. Hotel has amazing views and room was large with balcony and sea views. All parts of the hotel was spotlessly clean. All staff were very helpful and chatty. Can't wait to go back
Beautiful location, food was lovely, however, disappointed with cleanliness of room, bathroom was not cleaned and bedding had stains on duvet and sheets. There needs to be a level of standard, shouldnt need to complain as obvious matters - putting bedding on stained duvets, stain was so prominent (4 of us said it looked like blood, this is not acceptable). Asked for extra sheet which we believe was taken from another bed due to the amount of creases and again stains on sheet. Luxury hotel with low cleanliness standards in rooms. Was disappointed on arrival, i ended up cleaning the bathroom but once we sorted ourselves the stay was lovely.
We upgraded to a sea view room and it was worth every penny. Waking up to that view of Torbay is something that will be in my memory until the next time we visit for we certainly will be returning. So relaxing in the bar , the lounge with the same views as the rooms. could sit there all day with a drink and a snack chilling out - fabulous.
Apparently Nothing in place for food allergies at evening meal service, take it or leave it or as in my case as I needed to eat that day, serve it dry ! No sauce with my meal as apparently it is all pre-prepared and if you can't eat it due to an allergy - tough
Lovely hotel with fab sea views, great location within walking distance of the harbour. Weather was sunny during our stay so we were able to use the outdoor pool which overlooked the sea with fab views. We had a lovely room which was very spacious and the restaurant was also very good. We booked on a bed and breakfast basis, plenty of choice of breakfast on offer. We will definitely be back.
I must say it was expensive but worth it.. the location was brilliant near the harbour there you can do all the site seeing tours. Overseeing the beauty of the sea while having breakfast was just breathtaking.. ☺☺☺.. we enjoyed it..
We stayed here in 2016 for 4 nights and enjoyed it so much came back for 9 nights this year and splashed out on a suite. We loved the views last year and they were just as good this year from our top floor suite. The suite itself was very spacious with a massive comfortable bed. Yes the furniture was very dated but it kind of suited the period feel of the hotel. The room was in excellent decorative order and was kept immaculately clean. For some reason we could not access the balcony off our bedroom but the balcony off the living area was thee one with the better views. The staff were excellent especially the breakfast waiting staff and the bar staff who were all extremely attententive and very friendly. The food was good but I think the bar menu would benefit from more bar favourites. Facilities in the hotel are great with choice of indoor and outdoor pools, health suite and children's play room all topped off with a great. The new owners are investing in the hotel to refurbish it and restore it's grandeur and we can't wait to see the improvements next year.
Hotel was great breakfast had a great selection room was big and well furnished view from our balcony was stunning read some bad reviews but the staff were well mannered and helpful only complaint was the 7 pound per day parking fee which puts 49 pounds on an already costly holiday
We were a party of four and had stayed at the Imperial Hotel on the weekend of 28th July. I booked our rooms at the end of April and within our package we were advised we'd have two rooms with partial sea views. After a delayed, 5 hour train journey, we arrived at the hotel, eager to check in and begin our day. Upon check in, the receptionist advised that two members of our party were on the forth floor and the other two were on the third floor. I advised I was not happy about this as I had booked this back in April and noted that as we were a party of four we would at least like to be on the same floor. The receptionist noted that regardless of when I booked this stay they only allocate the rooms a week in advance of guests arrivals, so they just work with what rooms are left. I asked the receptionist when she received the details of my booking as to only allocate rooms a week in advance when I booked over 3 months ago with certain requests(I.e for our rooms to be near each other) was very poor management and customer service. I asked this question three times and each time she avoided my question! The receptionist advised she could change one of the rooms for one night, but then we'd need to move back to the original room on the second night. We were only booked to stay 2 nights so this idea seemed a lot of hassle when the purpose of our trip was to relax and unwind and therefore we declined. The receptionist noted there was nothing more she could do. The disappointment continued, as when I opened the door to our room, despite being advised we would have a partial sea view, we were in fact at the other side of the hotel with only a full view of the carpark! I again complained to reception, but again was advised there was nothing they could do. Another disappointing thing with this hotel is where they can make a fast buck out of you they will. After our long journey i wanted a quick shower and change of clothes so whilst I got ready I decided to have a sandwich delivered to my room as we were quite pushed for time so didn't was to go the restaurant/bar, I placed my order which cost £8.00. However they fail advise you that the service charge is £7.50 and it was only afterwards when I browsed further at the menu that I had spotted the very small print noting this fee, so my cheese sandwich was going to cost nearly £16.00! I was appalled! The hotel also charge guests for car parking, which was around £7.00 per day. The spa area was a huge let down, it was raining so we didn't want to go outside and use the outdoor pool and the indoor pool was tiny, noisy and uninviting so I decided to give it a miss. We were all booked in for treatments, but we're not given dressing gowns and slippers until we asked, which I thought was poor. The treatment rooms looked a bit dull and quite shabby, not cosy, warm & relaxing like you would expect them to be. The treatments I had were nice though so this definitely made up for it. The food at the hotel (breakfast and dinner) was lovely and lots of choice which was great. The downside though is that the staff are clearly not trained, three times whilst my Aunt was eating breakfast, every time she put her cutlery down during eating to take a sip of tea, the waitress tried to remove her plate. This became very frustrating! On the last night of our stay, during the early hours of the morning (around 5am) we were awoken by people arguing outside in the hotel entrance area. People were shouting and swearing causing a great disturbance to guests, and the hotel didn't appear to be doing anything to stop this. On check out day, you have until 11am to vacate your room, however the cleaner thought she would start on our room early and came into our room about 8:50am. I politely asked her to come back after 11am when we would have checked out, however she decided to ignore this request and opened our door again at 10am when we were trying to pack. I asked her again to please come back after 11am, however it's with utter disbelief that she again opened the door to our room at 10:45! She quickly apologised and left. I will definitely not be staying in this hotel again, which to be honest, shouldn't be classed as a four star, as it's looking very tired. The rooms are quite dated, especially the bathrooms. The only good thing about this hotel is its location and being so close to the sea. The restaurant area has lovely views of the ocean. When we checked out and were asked if we had enjoyed our stay, we confirmed that we had mixed thoughts about this and confirmed all of our issues regarding our stay. The receptionist jotted them down and then asked how we would like to pay for our bottle of wine we ordered at dinner...
