It's a little out of the way from I-75 compared to some of the other hotels that are right next door. However, the rooms are very clean and quiet, and they're dog friendly, which is a huge plus. I was a little irked that my room rate (not including the pet deposit) was $10 higher than what my reservation stated, hence the "Very Good" rating instead of the "Excellent" rating.
We have stayed at this hotel 3 times now. We have always travelled in April. Didn't make it this year. This is our preferred hotel. We find the staff to be very welcoming and efficient. We always get a two room suite and we travel with a dog. Although the family room furniture is dated, everything is more than satisfactory. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. We stayed at a different hotel one year and decided never to repeat that mistake again. We have already booked and are looking forward to returning in October.
My husband and I consulted with Expedia to reserve a hotel stay for our family vacation from Florida to Tennessee for July 8, 9, 10 and 11th, 2017. We reserved a 2 bedroom suite as specified in the confirmation email it stated: room 1: (1) king & room 2: (2) queen. Upon checking in front desk staff stated there were no rooms with two queens only one king in each bedroom. Although disappointed, we felt this was not too much of an issue as we were traveling with an 8 year old and a 2 year old we would simply make modifications to their sleeping arrangements. Front desk staff were very accommodating and pleasant. Upon entering our hotel room it was noticeably dingy, looking at the furniture it was torn and warped, opening the sleeper sofa it was dirty and looked very used and abused to the point my husband and I weren't completely confident in the structural integrity of this item. It was decided no one should sleep on the sleeper bed, instead the oddly shaped uncomfortable couch. As I began placing our hygiene items in the bathrooms, I noticed a full Ecolab antibacterial all purpose cleaner spray bottle inside the bathroom tub in the bathroom designated to our children. I then placed the bottle in a high space out of the reach of our children but in a spot that would be obvious to housekeeping so they would remove it upon their rounds the following day. Our kitchen was quaint, however, lacked kitchen soap. There was less than 1 centimeter remaining in the already miniature 3 ounce bottle provided. We did not receive housekeeping services for July 9th or July 10th, we had returned to our rooms at approximately 3-4 pm both days. We had paid $259.01 for July 8, $229.01 for July 9, $269.01 for July 10 and $279.01 for July 11 plus $178.71 in taxes totaling in $1214.75. An exorbitant amount of money for roadside motel quality. I have never been so upset and disappointed as I had to persuade my husband that this was allegedly an amazing hotel as I obsessively reviewed all positive and negative reviews for the hotel we were going to be staying in. This was a first and last for Residence Inn or Marriott owned hotels for us. They had contacted me after I emailed them and stated verbatim "I will be sure to communicate your comments to our staff and use them as a training opportunity." A training opportunity!
We stayed at the Residents Inn for one full week and had a pleasant stay. The beds were very comfortable and the room was quiet. I will say the doors and walls were solid, we didn't hear a peep from ajoining rooms or hallway. The front desk was really slow. The girl that checked us in didn't have a friendly smile or much personality and she took forever!! While we were here we got to enjoy the mix Mon., Tues. and Wed., night. The ladies running the show were very nice and happy to offer suggestions of places to visit. One night we had hummus with fresh veggies and broccoli salad. Second night offered hamburgers with potato salad and coleslaw, miniature candy bars for dessert. Third night was kind of lame with smores and pretzel bites but every night included 2 complimentary beers or 2 glasses of wine and/or soda so I can't really complain. This hotel does allow pets. One thing I noticed and I thought was pretty great, was there is usually an elevator door open and waiting for you. It's was open like 98% of the time I went to use it! The surrounding area is full of places to eat, gas stations and shopping. Would recommend. Downtown is about 15 minutes away if you take scenic Lee highway. If you take hwy 24 it's even quicker.
We just got back from a ten day vacation where we traveled from Texas to South Carolina and then back again. We stayed in Marriott properties the whole way and this hotel was our favorite. The manager was extremely friendly and helpful, even offering to call a local attraction to check the weather for us. Clean and nice. Highly recommended!
The only complaint I have is that housekeeping did the bare minimum. Made the bed, and that's it when they came. The first day we were there, they came by, and then never came back. The beds, though, were comfy, and the pool was very nice. We didn't have an oven, but cooking in a crock pot was easy.
There was a line at check-in when we arrived but the line moved quickly, everyone was friendly, attentive, and helpful at the front desk. When I called down later to ask about food delivery options, the desk person was again friendly and helpful. We were very impressed with our 1-bedroom suite. I'm a morning person, and my husband is not, so I was able to get up and make coffee and relax in the living area while he slept in. The suite was clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need for our stay and then some. The kitchen area was a pleasant surprise. We decided next time we are in town this would be the perfect place for a longer stay as we could cook in the room some and not eat out so much. The included breakfast was so-so...and the breakfast area was extremely crowded. We weren't in a hurry so it was really no big deal, but it took a really long time to get our food in the small cramped area. Outside of the breakfast serving area there was plenty of seating, we had no problem getting a table. You could also go out on the patio and eat, which is nice. The breakfast staff at other places we've stayed have been very outgoing and friendly, but they were not at this location. Not saying anyone was rude, just no one was outwardly friendly or stopping to ask guests if they needed anything. We decided it was because they were so incredibly busy that morning, it was a zoo with all the people coming in and out. I'm sure they were doing what they could to keep everything stocked and had very little time for much else. My husband likes to swim so after breakfast we went to check out the indoor pool. The smell of chlorine was so strong he decided against swimming. We figured there was a reason for the heavy dose of chlorine but it still deterred us from getting in. The only minor complaint I have is with housekeeping. We had a check out time of 1200 and I had the do not disturb sign hanging from the door. At about 1000 housekeeping knocked on the door and asked when we would be leaving. I glanced down at the do not disturb sign on the door, and so did she. I told her nicely we had a check out time of noon, she didn't seem to understand what I was saying - maybe a language issue, I don't know. She asked again when we would be leaving. After trying to communicate that we would leave by the check out time of 12:00, I finally gave up and said in about 45 minutes since that was our planned departure anyway. She seemed satisfied with that answer and finally went away. I called the front desk to confirm our check out time of 12:00, and explained what had happened with housekeeping. The clerk apologized and confirmed our check out time was 12:00, and please take our time. Wrapping up: The hotel is very nice, nice decor, clean and well-appointed rooms, friendly front desk staff are just some examples of very good pros. Looks to be a great place for families. Cons...very crowded, I don't recall ever staying any place else where I felt like I was tripping over people at all hours of the day. Please keep in mind this was on the weekend, weekdays may not be as crazy here. Honestly, none of our seemingly negative experiences would stop us from staying here again, but we might first consider other options in the area if the accommodations were similar and similar in rate.
This was our third trip to this property. We always reserve the 2 room suite, and utilize the sofa bed. On this trip we pulled out the sofa couch and the material was ripped and dirty. The mattress itself was extremely thin and worn out. We called the front desk asking if we could have a crib instead. Surprisingly they didn't have any. They said most of the sofas were worn out, but offered to bring padding. Laughably, this was several old sheets and blankets. They didn't help, and my son spent a sleepless night with the springs and bars poking through. Really disappointed, and the follow up since has been equally disappointing. Very sorry, but we're planning a remodel is the message I've received. Avoid this hotel until their remodel is complete if you plan on using the sofa bed. Everything else is ok, but also showing signs of wear and tear.
Stayed here one night with the family while traveling through, we had a two bedroom suite which was perfect. the property looks fairly new but the furniture in the living room was dirty and tore up from wear and tear. Other than that i cant complain the staff was so friendly, each one greeted us when we passed them. Check in was a breeze as usually being a rewards member. The breakfast had a good variety and every thing we tried was good and fresh. The indoor pool is not heated I guess b/c it was pretty chilly.
My family stayed at this hotel for Easter weekend. The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The breakfast was delicious and kept stocked for the entire time breakfast was available. The attendants were always alert, courteous, and helpful. Today, however, 3 weeks later, I saw two charges for $40 on my charge card statement so I called the hotel to ask why. "Kate" told me that it was for incidentals. I told her that I bought nothing there and if I had, why would I be charged 3 weeks later for them. She checked her accounts and agreed that there were no incidentals and the 2 x $40 would be immediately removed. They were. Then I told my sister, who also stayed at the hotel over Easter and she found a charge for $50 on her bank statement. Charged today, 3 weeks later - for NO incidentals purchased. Does that happen often there? Too often for my sister and I. Check YOUR charge card.
