Hyatt Place Charleston/Historic District

3.5 out of 5.0

Staff polite and informative. Room was tiny with cheap modern furniture. Queen bed lumpy. Bathroom was clean towels were small and old.

The room was very nice. There was a parkung garage attached to the hotel which was convenient

I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 night stay at the Hyatt Place Charleston. The building was well maintained and looked new (inside and out). The rooms are decorated in a modern/transitional aesthetic. The breakfast was stellar. There were two separate breakfast areas, with plenty of food. You also had the option to stand in line and order fresh omelettes. The Starbucks coffee was phenomenal. I will say there was a bulletin in the elevator stating that in a few months, the breakfast would only be available to guests that paid a certain amount for their stay. There were a few issues with my particular room. My room door did not close automatically. There were a few times when I realized my door was still open. One being right before I was going to take a shower. I also had the misfortune of being able to know when my neighbor was using the bathroom (due to the odor). Lastly, my housekeeper did not clean my shower stall at all. The shower doors clearly were not wiped. I purposely left a bar of soap on the shower floor, which remained there for 2 days. Certain items were not replenished, such as the tea and napkins. The ice bucket that I used once, was not emptied and placed back in its original location. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Front desk was very friendly, disappointing that you have to pay for parking after paying for an already expensive room; will not be booking here again.

Big rooms, good breakfast, staff was very friendly

We had to change rooms the first night because of electrical items not working. The second night we had to call for the maid twice..guess they forgot about us! When I went for the buffet, they cleared away my food before I was finished! Dishes were left on the 9th floor in a table for two days. The keys for our door didn’t work. They changed the battery in door while we waited with our luggage and when we unpacked and left the room, they didn’t work when we returned. The staff was courteous and friendly...had to end on a good note!

Not the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in: stains on the carpet and the shower looked dirty. But the staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent.

easy check in and check out breakfast free, nothing special

Did not like the valet parking expense. We ended up parking in the garage ourselves.

Air conditioner was really loud. Not very sound proof. Breakfast very nice and staff were helpful and friendly

This is a nice place in the heart of the action. Friendly and helpful staff

I like the location. It is generally quiet, for Charleston. On the downside, we had to ask for room service both days. Found that surprising. Never had to do that before.

Amazing breakfast and coffee. Great beds, smoking section for my friend to use. lovely.

Great location. Walking distance to downtown. Free buses available down King Street and up Meeting Street.

Great location and quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious!
