Helpful - exceedingly. Food well presented and room comfortable. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. Knew the area and aided me with luggage. A quiet spot for a hotel so central and close to the University of law. View out of window was OK too.
Booked by work and a bit more expensive than usual. Still a functional hotel, not sure what the extra pays for. You get a hair dryer without asking, there was a nifty moving table that made better use of the space but the sheets weren’t that smooth or comfortable which I suppose is down to a low thread count or dodgy detergent at the laundry. The non cooked breakfast option was let down by the predominance of melon but I forgave that because I could still remember the particularly satisfying club sandwich in the bar the night before.
came for fri/sat night - receptionist was not welcoming but other member if staff we approached for local info was helpful -room smelt damp and cold -heating system not efficient -got two blankets see photo although would have preferred another duvet but told not possible -was offered heater. bed comfy. breakfast items cold but meal in evening was very tasty but not cheap - clemence at morning breakfast was only staff member who was cheery - for price paid for stay and the comfort points missing means unlikely to stay again.
Dirty room in general state of disrepair. Stayed two nights but had no time to look at the room on the first night, by the time we had time to look round the room, we realised it was filthy, there were stains on the bed. Items such a q-tips/hair grips on the floor not belonging to us. The bath fell apart as we tried to run it exposing more dirt. The shower was mouldy and dirty and the back of the toilet hadn't been cleaner for a long time. The windows were also covered in dirt along the insides. The room wasn't even cleaned on the 2nd night (the staff were insistent this was because the do not disturb sign was on the foor-which it wasnt) When we complained to hotel staff we were rudely told the hotel was booked up but we could stay down the road... but we had to pay for that aswell! We were refunded 20%of the room back -not enough for the disguising room conditions and rude ill-treated staff.
I stayed at the Novotel for 3 nights during the first week of November. This hotel was close to the training centre that I was attending and had its own car park. I arrived on a Sunday evening when the hotel was quiet and was allocated a room on the second floor. The size of the room was good and it was clean but sadly the bathroom was mouldy. Fortunately, when I reported this to the assistant (Linda) at Reception, she immediately looked on the system and offered a more updated room for me to move to. I had a meal at the hotel during one of the nights and the restaurant staff was very helpful. Food was good but there is limited choice. Gym facilities were adequate. The best point for me at this hotel was the parking - underground car park at £10 per overnight stay.
I booked 2 rooms at this hotel. The hotel was lovely, well located with good transport links and the food in the restaurant was really good. However, the soundproofing in the bedrooms was terrible. Doors crashing shut all night, toilets and showers running from the adjacent rooms, telephone conversations of my neighbours. I could even hear the guy in the next room using the toilet! Terrible, woke up the next day feeling like I needed to go to bed and not to a 5 hour meeting!
Exceptional staff. Very nice (executive) room. Signs of moderate neglect (limescale on bathroom fittings). Car parking £10 per night, hotel's own car park. Car park a little eccentric, Breakfast good, but not exceptional. I would stay here again...
We booked for one night for a weekend break, without breakfast. We wanted a nice room with no issues, and that’s what we got. In fact, we seemed to be in a uniquely champagne-themed room. Why go to that effort without a free bottle? Funnily enough, we were initially confused because we were celebrating our anniversary. All in all, this was as you’d expect from a Novotel (apart from the group of young, male track suited guests sitting outside spitting non-stop creating a disgusting mess).
The perfect set up for us on a two day visit to Bristol to look at schools ahead of moving here in the summer. Came with two kids and a dog in tow. To find a hotel that takes dogs (and big ones) and that has such a quality feel right in the centre of a city at a reasonable price is great! Couldn’t have been happier. Good food (we ate in the restaurant Elements with dog) and very friendly staff. Definitely recommend to other families.
Twice i've experienced poor customer service from this hotel and been made to feel unappreciated as a Le club accor member. Lack of communication with being told one thing by one member of staff and then being told something completely different by another, Next time I'll try out the Mercure and not bother with the Novotel
