My daughter had an audition which was moved to the Aztec hotel due to snow on a previous date. I managed to get a lovely room which had 2 single beds and included breakfast so was happy with the price I paid. After an hour and half drive we were able to check into our room. It was very modern and plenty of room. There was lots of storage, tea maker and a coffee machine which had fresh milk in the refrigerator. In the wardrobe we had 2 spa bath robes with slippers. My daughter and I decided to go to the pool. The changing rooms were very modern and the pool was a good size with a large hot tub in the corner. Sun loungers were around the pool and doors open to a decking area. We didn’t eat in the restaurant for dinner as was not keen on the menu plus it was expensive. There are plenty of places to eat nearby or a short 10 minute drive which was opposite the mall cribs causeway. We had a quiet and comfortable night sleep. The restaurant is nicely decorated and modern. Breakfast was nice as had plenty to choose from. All the staff were very nice and accommodating, the only thing I would suggest is that for a 4 star hotel the staff uniforms could be improved as felt very casual and could easily be mistaken as guests.
The room was very good, we stayed for three nights and was with a coach load of friends. The drinks were expensive and as the evening progressed drinks were added to the bill that I did not have. I did question this and the bar person said what do you want to do about it, I asked for the money to be re-embursed for the drink I did not have and I would be watching from now on. The restaurant and bar manager upstairs was consistently rude and had a take it or leave it manner. A number of people in our group had severe stomach and sickness problems after the first and third nights meal. Could the hotel please note that not everyone has credit cards and would like to register their debit cards at reception to enable booking drinks to their room. Tried to add room rating but would not work. 1 for service, 4 for sleep, 5 for cleanliness. David Wilson
The full body massage with hot stones is amazing especially if you have Sammy as I did. She is lovely and very professional. The massage is so relaxing and really leaves you feeling that you don't want it to end ! Money well spent and would thoroughly recommend. Can't wait to be given another Spa voucher !
Stayed here on our way back up North from Cornwall. Originally booked in the Saturday but had to move our stay a day earlier. Called the hotel and they facilitated it brilliantly. Room was lovely and the Spa/ pool was great. Dinner was expensive, especially the Chef’s Table option and the cocktail my wife ordered was extortionate for the taste of watered down strawberry and no alcohol. And £10 for a cheeseboard!! The children’s menu however was good and the staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast had lots of choices and was very nice. Expensive stay overall but enjoyable also.
We stayed here with our two children aged 7 and 9. For the children the hotel has been excellent, milk and cookies plus chocolate bars in the room for them on arrival, lovely pool with floats etc, an excellent and reasonable children’s menu in the restaurant. For this the hotel gets the two stars. One more star is given for the friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately the hotel lets itself down massively in the restaurant. The prices are astronomical! I have eaten in many expensive and fancy restaurants and I do not mind paying top prices for top quality food, however the prices here are not in any way justified by the food. The portions are tiny and the flavours are below average. £21 for a teeny weeny piece of lamb and a couple of pieces of ‘smoked’ vegetables which literally tasted like smoke. I fancied the ribeye steak, but £30? Seriously??!! We are not at a Michelin starred restaurant we are by the side of the motorway overlooking a roundabout! The room is comfortable although very small for four of us. Good selection of coffee etc plus a hairdryer. The bath/shower is tiny and the shower head is not of adjustable height which makes showering slightly awkward. All in all it has been satisfactory as a base for exploring Bristol but we will find somewhere else in future that offers better value for money.
Calming entrance to the hotel and reception staff very friendly and professional. We got one of the Signature Rooms with a bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival. Check-in went very quickly and they immediately picked up on our accent and offered us a table in the fully booked restaurant (as I didn’t pre-book as recommended on receipt of accommodation.. :P) The rooms are stylishly decorated and as advised the bed was lovely. Not the usual used up mattress. They even had a lovely percolator for coffee. The bar was very elegantly decorated with different types of chairs in certain areas for you to pick and choose. After we had settled in we walked around the Spa and then made our way to the bar for a wine and catch-up/planning. I loved the neutral colour palette and atmosphere was very relaxing. Our time was spent on the black swivel chairs. Drinking wine and eating popcorn…:) Dinner was served in the AA rosette onsite restaurant. The food was delish. We are pretty sure that the restaurant features the biggest fireplace we have ever seen! After a wonderful nights rest and filling buffet breakfast the next morning - we headed off for to explore Bristol. A truly nice place to spend a night!
This hotel is amazing the staff are fantastic. The spa facilities are brillant and the spa staff are absolute stars I came in wanting a massage as I had just got of a plane from Canada so I was a little bit stiff I was talking to the Spa receptionist called Kerrie who was lovley and then was able to talk to the therapist about the best treatment for my self. I came in at about 3.50 pm and got a treatment for 4pm what luck! The therapist sarah was a real star very professional and very friendly. My treatment was amazing she listened completely to what out come i wanted and she achieve this I came out feeling like a new man. I am looking forward to coming back and staying and I will be booking with Sarah again.
We visited this Hotel with group and enjoyed it immensely. The staff were possibly the best I have encountered for many years, nothing was to much trouble and they were all friendly and helpful in e very way. The food was good and the whole weekend was a pleasure.
Pros: Big comfy bed, spacious room, lovely small spa area, Selection of tea/coffee, nice big mugs. Dressing gowns that can be worn to and from Spa. 20-25 minute drive into Bristol Cons: Pillows really soft, room VERY hot at night, on website it shows pictures of an outdoor jacuzzi but there isn't one. Comments: The decking by the swimming pool and eating area there was a beautiful pond with water feature. We attended an event here the following day and the food delivered at the event was very poor, a complaint has been put in. For an event of over 35 people they bought out about 10 sandwhiches.
Not sure what to expect but at £188 per night just for a room - and with you having to paid for breakfast AND the carpark on top - it was a, major, and i mean a major down - a very ordinary room with an extremely uncomfortable bed -the food overall with again very ordinary and at breakfast there was no-one around to cook eggs to order and we ordered toast and it NEVER appeared. Just didn't think it justified its star billing and the price - sorry a ripe off!!!
