What a lovely hotel with exceptional staff & superbly located. I can not recommend this hotel enough. We had a classic room which was spacious & well thought out, our evening meal was plentiful & gorgeous & breakfast was of a high quality with lots of choice. Each member of staff without exception were friendly & attentive. Thank you to Haley for a friendly & fast check out. And all of this at great value for money. I will definitely return & would highly recommend to others. Thank you so much for making our stay exceptional.
I stayed here again for a few nights, this is my preferred hotel in Windsor when there is availability as the staff service levels are good, breakfasts are great, and the rooms are very comfortable. The restaurant does good steak, plus there is a lot of nearby choice of other restaurants in Windsor town centre.
The room was lovely and spacious with a lounge area and a sleeping area divided by a wall. Windows are across a whole side of the room so there's a lot of natural light and the balcony is very spacious and private. There's a great view from the room and the balcony of Windsor castle as well as changing of the guards parade on the street below. I put in a special request for a congratulations card for my partner and the staff went beyond, surprising us with a bottle of wine, 2 cupcakes and a balloon as well as congratulating my partner on check in - staff were extremely personable and helpful We went out for dinner, upon returning to our room they had done a turndown service to the room which was a lovely surprise and wonderful to return to. We were offered afternoon high tea in the hotels restaurant and that was tasty and relaxing. Only downside was the room service food, but it wasn't terrible, we may have set our expectations slightly higher. The location of the hotel is great, it's in the city centre, walking distance from everything and the room is also quiet in the evenings. I would highly recommend staying here!
I honestly do not no where to start. My husband has been staying with you for over 3 years at minimum 3 months of the year for 3-5 nights. All of a sudden you get new staff who haven't got a clue who your VIP customers are and dump him in a classic room with no towels last week. His PA called you today to make sure you had the correct room for him, only to be told "yes, but for £300" do you not understand Mr Tye and Idexx have a corporate rate with you?? As his wife I'm disgusted as I stay with him on the odd occasion and the service, breakfast and loyalty has definitely gone down the drain. The only good thing we have to say about this hotel now is the Concierge the gentleman are fantastic and will always go the extra mile for Mr Tye. Idexx will now be taking all of their future bookings which if you look at the history is a hell of a lot to The Castle and The Christopher Wren.
Brilliant bar and food service from Andy, kind, patient and attentive with excellent attention to detail. Great quality food, and prepared in a short time frame. Professional and courteous, thanks Andy.
Booked the hotel after having difficulty with parking arrangements at C.Wren in hindsight in spite of the better reviews so glad i ended up going to the Macdonald, staff were friendly and professional throughout. Starting with valet parking through until check out. Evening meal was excellent which included a visit from the manager to check how our stay was going. We decided to extend our stay beyond just the business meeting to enjoy the local shops, bars and riverside walking. Our room was a reasonable size but immaculately presented with excellent wifi. If when we return to Windsor we shall certainly rebook this hotel.
My wife and I stayed here for our friends' wedding, which was held at the Royal Berkshire. Excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for the polite, hard working and attentive staff who are a true asset to this hotel. This is particularly true with regard to food. Lindsey is gluten intolerant and attention to detail, with regard to this, was spot on. Well done to all who looked after us so well and thank you.
My Husband booked us an overnight stay at this wonderful hotel. From the moment you walk through the door you feel some. Staff very friendly and helpful. Valet parking is £30 per night which may be slightly expensive but at least you don't have to worry about your car. We booked an executive room but was upgraded on arrival. As it was my 40th we were left cupcakes and wine in our room which was a lovely idea. The suite was beautiful and overlooking Windsor Castle. The beds are so comfy and the shower is amazing. I love a hot and powerful shower. Breakfast was not included but we decided to pay and we received a lovely full breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel. 10/10
Having read reviews of this hotel, we were wondering if we would say ‘amazing’ or ‘disappointing’. Overall our stay was good. The room was well presented & we had everything we needed. The bed was very, very comfortable. Breakfast on our first 2 days was good. The breakfast buffet has everything one requires. The hot breakfast (brought to the table) is full of quality ingredients but the poached eggs were very hard. On the third morning the restaurant was fuller than other mornings and we waited sometime for toast, hot drinks and finally a hot breakfast. Half of the tables in the restaurant hadn’t been cleared. One lady was particularly upset about tea. Of course she has the right to vent her feelings but it meant it wasn’t a restful breakfast for a number of hotel clients. I believe the staff did their best to listen and make the situation better. There was a waitress called Ageta who was very pleasant and calm during these difficulties and I think the hotel management should commend her. I am not sure why folk are waiting so long or tables are not cleaned. This is mentioned many times on here but the management have not been able to put this right. I wish you could as the hotel is so lovely. Overall we had a very pleasant stay in the lovely town of Windsor.
Stayed here last night! After horrendous journey on M25 finally arrived 2:30pm - great valet sevice - parked our car and took luggage to our room whilst we enjoyed a relaxing lunch in the bar. Don't be put off paying the £30 parking is is worth it - you are literally in the centre of everything - Windsor Castle is just across the road and all the lovely shops, bars and cafes are on the doorstep. Our room was beautifully decorated - very contemporary and clean. Lovely bottle of prosecco and chocolate cake on arrival. Nice bar and superb evening meal - particularly enjoyed the butternut squash and blue cheese tart - delish!! Lovely ambience and great service. The two girls Hayley and Louise on reception with their bubbly personalities rounded the stay off perfectly!
