Our son and daughter-in-law had their wedding reception here in September last year. Everything was perfect. We were able to have drinks in the lovely gardens before sitting down to a truly delicious meal. Everyone had a choice of about 4 different dishes which had been pre-ordered about a month in advance and we all ended up with the correct meal. We stayed the night there and slept in one of the garden suites which was truly lovely and very comfortable - fabulous bathroom with a large freestanding bath as well as a wet room style shower. The bedroom has French windows opening onto a small garden area with a table and chairs and lovely views of the larger gardens. All in all a wonderful place to stay and we'd love to go back to sample the spa which we didn't have time to experience.

Love this hotel. Great rooms, clean, big with massive king size beds. 2nd visit Spa is fab. Stayed there all day. Can’t wait to return. The manager sent champagne to our room as a birthday gift. Staff were all lovely Thank you for a lovely time.

Arrived at the hotel after a 3 hour drive to be told. Im sorry sir but at this spa hotel that you booked 2 months ago we do not have any spa treatments avalible. So we go up to our suite to find x2 manky old robes in the wardrobe that smelt like chip fat. nice big bed with a dirty old sofa that needs to be binned. Then when we try to book dinner for a specific time 7.30 sorry sir that time is not avilble you can have 6 7 or 8 when we get to the resurant it was empty. Of course the dinner we wanted out of a choice of 5 wasnt avlible so burger and chips it was. No still water in our room Noisy extracta fan from the kitchen all evening Robes where tatterd and smelly Me and my partner would never go back

A group of ladies - old friends- visited for two nights and we were very excited about the spa. The hotel and restaurant were very nice, rooms cosy and the staff very friendly and helpful. However, we were very disappointed to find out we couldn’t have any spa treatments as there were no therapists working there! We enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna but felt very let down as were looking forward to massages and facials etc, all of which were widely advertised but not available.

I brought my wife here for a birthday treat, the bedroom was a generous size and nicely presented with a large comfy bed. The bathroom was dated with a gap in the grouting above the bath, the bath was nice and deep, the hot water had to run a while to get to temperature. We invited mother in law and sister to come for supper and sat in the lounge, which is better than we last remembered but still not as cosy as under previous ownership. The waiter seeming too keep for us to get to the table asking four times whilst we enjoyed a glass of champagne by the fire. The dining room was empty apart from one other couple, and the spartan decor is still a huge disappointment from the elegance of the previous dining experience, we asked for the music to be turned down which they did. We order some bread and oil and then asked if they had any balsamic but on enquiry to the kitchen were told no. When are mains arrived they were unbelievably poor, I had ordered a medium rare steak which arrived tough and well done, the mushrooms were tasty but the chips tasted of old oil, my wife had ordered fish and chips the fish tasted terrible as did the chips and the mushy peas had black bits in it. My mother in law had ordered a smoked salmon sandwich, I asked if it was homemade bread they advised it wasn’t, the sandwiches were like workman cafe sandwiches and again not wet edible. I asked to see the manager, to be informed he had gone home, the waiter then offfered to get the front of House manager, on his return he said that the front of House manager had said our waiter was now the manager. It would have been amusing in other situations but we had come for a birthday treat and invited others to join us it’s not as if we don’t know the hotel having been here at least once or twice every year even dining here on our honeymoon. However we will not be back the food was horrid so fearing the worst for breakfast we packed up our bags and left, refusing to pay for anything apart from the champagne. The receptionist came in and said she said she had contacted the manager who said we could have a future stay for 20% off. We declined and this morning had a brilliant breakfast at beckington farm shop

Hotel is lovely with very friendly and helpful staff. A good choice for breakfast and really tasty. Only disappointment was they had experienced problems with the heating in the hydrotherapy pool which resulted in it being cold and not able to use. These things happen and didn't ruin our stay at all.

Beautiful!! Lovely room and such helpful service! We both had a really lovely time with the spa and pool topping it off! I loved having to walk and swim outside it was a lovely experience! Very good location and lovely atmosphere! Would highly recommend it for a perfect little get away! Breakfast also lovely with a good choice of continental as well as cooked :)

What a wonderful venue for a wedding. Everything about the day was fantastic, the venue, the staff, the food and my room was absolutely beautiful with a four poster bed. It was a very memorable and special day. Thank you!!

I stayed there with my husband and 9 year old son for a last minute Christmas break. We just wanted to relax with a nice room and good food - we usually stay at home. The hotel was nicely decorated, and the welcome was good with mulled wine or cider and mince pies. Reception staff helpfully carried out bags to our room - and we had lots of bags! The room was paid for as a deluxe but I think we got a junior suite. The room was large, nice comfy bed, huge bathroom with rolltop bath. The furniture however was a bit tired. That let it down a bit. We had a great view of the gardens and pool and could walk through our french doors direct to the pool. They left some biscuits, oranges and nuts in our room. A present was put in our room of a chocolate santa and some prosecco. A lovely gift stocking was put on our door for our son on christmas day and they brought us a gift of a sherry and decanter. Christmas eve was good with some visiting carol singers and a lovely meal Christmas evening. My son loved the starter of a cheese and ham toastie - don't know why but it was divine. However from Christmas day onwards the restaurant disappointed. Breakfast was a bit skimpy. Processed juices, fruit salad of only cut apples. Full breakfast was half a rasher of bacon, half a black pudding piece (overcooked), one sausage one tomato etc. Seemed throughout they were skimping on food and trying to cost reduce. Restaurant service was a bit faulty towers. Clearly untrained staff (one well trained manager), that seldom cleared up the plates from first courses so the table remained too full at all meals. One breakfast took 20 mins to order tea and food. Instructions were mixed up. Food was brought with incomplete descriptions and the waiter saying 'salmon with a horseradish...err..something.' This is not good enough when trying to be a substantial restaurant. The food on Christmas day lunch was poor - undercooked sprouts (and I like my veg al dente), undercooked sausage, only one piece of carrot and four small pieces of roast potato. The theme of small amounts of food continued throughout the stay. On boxing day the food was virtually inedible. I've never before tasted a tasteless and undercooked risotto. There was for sure no seasoning and no parmesan in the parmesans and rocket risotto. There was about one large spoonful in the dish for a main course. The cheesecake was inedible. The 'wonderful' toastie my son had on the first evening had morphed into a half cooked stale bread and cold cheese sandwich. He was not happy. I ordered beans on toast for my final breakfast and it came with one small piece of toast and countable number of beans. I noticed there were many empty tables that had not been cleared and it made for a less than satisfactory breakfast. All of this restaurant wise was a shame a clearly at one point there was a very capable chef/kitchen and sadly it ended up being very poor. It lets down what was otherwise a wonderful break. We loved our room and the hard efforts of the staff to make our stay a good one. my final advice is that for a high price the hotel should focus on providing first rate food, of premium quality, and adequate portions that are well cooked. Fresh fruit juices would go down well as would a larger and more diverse buffet. But overall a good stay - if we stayed again however we would eat out.

I attended Ash & Alice’s wedding on 27th October 2017. It was an absolutely beautiful venue, with lovely gardens and rooms. We had a great time - topped off with great food and drink! Perfect place for a wedding or summer party.
