My wife and I spent an evening at Homewood Park for our friend's wedding reception last autumn. The venue was perfect for the occasion with stunning grounds capturing the picturesque view over the valley and a fantastic ambience throughout the Georgian building. The staff were very friendly and, whilst we weren't staying at the hotel, they were always willing to help particularly in the cocktail bar where the bar man was happy to make something special for us. The food was fantastic and we would love to come back to experience the normal menu for an evening. I would highly recommend Homewood park if you are ever in the Bath area.

The advert to spend a night in a listed building dating back to the 13th century just 15 minutes outside of Bath was what caught my eye and started the whole getaway. Homewood Park Hotel and Spa is a luxury hotel set on ten acres of parklands with beautiful vistas over the Limpley Stoke Valley. The drive up to the hotel is lovely, very green, lots of trees, lots of coverage even though it was still winter. The house is a joy to behold from the outside and inside offers an abundance of period features. I loved the crackling fires and the creaky wooden floors on the way to our room. Our room was situated within the main house and according to Secret Escapes we were to have the Deluxe Room. However, when we got there we had been giving the Junior Suite instead. :). There was an enormous bed and it was stunningly comfortable too. The room was stylishly decorated in English country house style and overlooked the well kept gardens. We settled in for a late afternoon nap before heading down to the bar just before dinner. The cosy bar area with the Chesterfield sofa, Havana Cigar Stand, coffee table full of Taittinger Champagne bottles and a lovely roaring fire welcomes you for a homemade Homewood Signature Cocktail. Steve’s concoction for the night was a cocktail made with Lavender. It’s a beautiful bright blue cocktail. Was pleasant enough but pretty sharp in taste. We were handed a menu to peruse and order before being shown to our seats in the restaurant. The following morning we returned to the restaurant for breakfast. We were told to help ourselves to the continental selection of cereal and pastries until our hot food arrived. We selected the biggest breakfast which was the Full English. It was ok compared to the dinner. We had a bit of time to kill before heading back into Bath, so we made our way to the Spa area to investigate whats on offer. The spa is pretty small with an outdoor heated swimming pool and indoor hydrotherapy pool.. We didn’t use the spa facilities. All in all it was a pleasant night away. The food was good. Service great.

This was booked as a Red Letter Day booking which may have affected what we received. The room was directly at the top of the stairs from reception. Beautifully furnished but you could hear every word said by every person in reception, which by definition meant that there was also no privacy in the room. Some elements were lacking and had to be chased up with house keeping ie robes . This is after all a spa hotel. The pool area , along with the rest of the grounds were lovely. Dinner was pleasant with attentive service. Breakfast however was painful. You could die waiting, and it wasn't worth the wait. Sad, so much potential but some areas need attention.

I was here for my sister's wedding. We have a lovely breakfast in the room while getting ready in the morning and grounds are beautiful. I enjoyed some of the lovely little spaces there are around the hotel. I just wish I had had time to visit the spa! Sara and Adams wedding - 20/10/17

We had an amazing time at Homewood Park for Adam & Sara’s wedding. It’s a stunning setting with all the facilities you need. The suites are incredible and the bed was extremely comfortable. Would highly recommend.

Had a wonderful stay for my friends wedding! Great staff and venue. Beautiful rooms and gardens. The breakfast was particularly nice the day after the wedding. Would definitely return for a spa weekend. High recommended. Adam and Sarah Wassall wedding 20/10/17

Firstly, this stay was for a special occasion which the staff were made aware of at the time of booking (no effort was made at any point of our stay to make us feel special). Check in: was terrible. We were served by two completely gormless girls. One of which tried to charge us again for the stay despite us explaining that we had already paid at the time of placing the booking. Staff need serious customer service training! Rooms: we had two rooms which we had requested were twin rooms, however they were in fact both doubles. The decor in the rooms was fairly nice but they need to be maintained. The skirting needs cleaning and painting in bedroom. The bathroom needs re-tiling and grouting, the ceiling needs plastering and the cracks in the walls need filling and overall a good paint. I have never seen a tea/coffee making area like it; you only get two nice tea bags (if you require more, you are given cheap teabags) and if you want milk you have to ring reception for it. Spa: pool was nice, not overly warm but ok. Jacuzzi was lovely but half the jets didn’t work and the steam room was closed due to maintenance. Lounge area: this isn’t a country house lounge, it’s an OAP lounge, don’t get your hopes up. Breakfast: the food was lovely, good quality food. However, what you expect to be a full English breakfast is not (no beans or hash browns). Plus, there was only one member of staff in the breakfast room; she was struggling to serve everyone which meant that we had to wait quite some time for anything we wanted. Also, we had our breakfast included in the price of the stay which was a blessing; I would not pay £16 for a fry up. The restaurant decor is very nice though. Check out: is at 11am. If you want to use the spa after check out, you have to pay £15 per person (I have never had to pay to use a hotels facilities if I have already paid to stay there, I think it’s a joke). Overall: this hotel has the potential to be lovely but the staff let the whole place down and it needs some money spent on it.

We had ana amazing hen party here at the spa. A group of 15 ladies came for a day including sandwiches for lunch. It was beautiful and made my hen party perfect and one to definitely remember. Thank you so much!

A wonderful stay from start to finish. We were here to celebrate our dear friends wedding and we had the most memorable time. The grounds were gorgeous and we were blessed with sunshine. The wedding breakfast was exquisite and the service was excellent. A great place for a wedding, just double check how long the bar stays open in the evening!

Stayed as secret escape package. The hotel and deal was not good value. The hotel has no atmosphere, the bar facilities are poor with limited offer on drinks, the food is very over priced , limited choice menu and we did not enjoy our meal. They offered a good breakfast. I would not recommend.
