Renaissance Asheville Hotel

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

I’ve stayed at the Asheville Renaissance numerous times, and is always an enjoyable experience. It’s location within a block of everything core downtown Asheville has to offer with plenty of parking makes it number 1. It is a Renaissance Hotel and their properties world wide lean luxurious with all amenities. The Asheville Renaissance is older and around the edges was getting a little shop worn, still old luxurious, great staff, but needed a face lift. When I booked my most recent stay I did it through Orbitz not talking directly to hotel. The Asheville Renaissance is currently undergoing a much needed renovation, but there is construction on going, some facilities, like the pool is closed, and regular work out area greatly diminished. They made accommodations for workouts close by at the YMCA, but it’s the Y not a luxury hotel. That said it still was a great vacation stay for me, I look forward to polished shined and upgraded property on my next return. PS-Renaissance Asheville, please spruce up the exterior of the building and give it landscape makeover as well, it’s win win against your Hotel competitors.

Overall it was a good experience, there were a few hickups along the way though. I went to eat dinner at the restaurant(which had decent food, if a bit over priced) and it took 10 minutes before anyone came to the host desk to seat me, and not because they were busy, there was only one other occupied table in the restaurant. One of the other staff had to go get someone before I was seated. The room itself was decent, Ive stayed in a lot worse, but you could tell it was a little less cared for than it used to be, like this used to be a fancy hotel but now is a little forgotten. I also had the room next to the elevators and not only could I hear the guests, but the employees walked around through the night with walkie talkies. The house keeping staff also barged into the room while I had the do not disturb sign on the door an hour and a half before checkout. Over all I would stay there again. Its right on the edge of downtown so its easy to get to from the highway and still within walking distance but if you don't mind paying a little more there are places better situated in downtown.

This hotel is nice and super convenient to walk to downtown. Its clean and quiet.

Our check in was delayed and our initial staff person was less than pleasant. Future interactions with the same person were also less than pleasant. However other staff members made up for her surliness.

Satisfying. Location wonderful for shopping, entertainment and meals. Clean city and appears to be a really safe area.

Very good hotel in a good location to explore downtown Asheville.

We were in town to research potential retirement towns in NC. This hotel was central to downtown Asheville stores and restaurants, perfect walking distance. The room itself was comfy, not big, but not very small. Our only woe was the bathroom, which felt small and a bit outdated (compared to other places we've stayed in an exact comparable price-range). The bathroom was clean and the staff did a great job keeping it clean so that was great. This hotel has many function rooms and businesses that come through so it was busy but not noisy. Rooms were quiet, couldn't hear people talking, yelling, running in the hall or tv's at night. Definitely recommend this hotel for your next vacation or night of business.

In the downtown, close to restaurants, pubs, and shops. Nice, clean hotel with very friendly staff.

Very well appointed and comfortable room in a convenient location in Asheville. You can walk pretty much anywhere. Comfortable beds with nice quality linens. Love the Aveeda soaps and shampoos. Check-in and Check-out were easy and efficient. Our view was of a giant air conditioner unit which didn't really matter since we were there only one night, getting in kind of later and leaving early.

Nice room. Great location, many things within walking distance.

The hotel has been remodeled but doesn't hide its an older hotel. My biggest gripes were the tv channel options were poor and the local channels were "snowy"The air unit was very loud and was on and off all night. It was very convent to downtown we walked most of the time.

Walkable to downtown & trolley stop in front of hotel. Only issue was we wanted to extend stay by one day but since we booked on Orbitz was given a phone & 800# to call Marriott direct. Was informed booked up even though was told by desk staff a few rooms available. So back to clerk who checked with manager & offered a room but way more than first day stay. We declined, stayed one night & found another hotel within walking distance of Biltmore Village for same price as first night, although hotel was not as nice as Renaissance. Our fault for not booking 2 nights originally but asking customer to call the 800# from the lobby felt rather cold. Otherwise, nice stay.

Great downtown location within walking distance of great restaurants, shops, and music. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. However, housekeeping staff did not do a good job as a whole. Upon arrival, I went to place some items on the nightstand next to the bed, but had to wipe off a thick layer of dust first. The hotel says in their literature that they change towels daily, and bedding every third day.The next day when we returned to our room at dinner time, we found our hotel bed pillows on the floor, and one corner of the bedding was folded back. (We had left the bed with the pillows on it and the covers pulled up.) We then called to ask for new bedding - sheets and pillowcases. A staff member arrived with damp bedding, and we had to ask him to get dry sheets. He was pleasant about the request. The next day when we arrived back at our room about 4PM, none of our towels had been changed out - they were still on the bathroom floor where we were instructed to leave them if we wanted them changed out. When we called for clean towels, the housekeeper seemed to have an attitude of being "put-out" for being called to change out our towels.

Pleasant check-in and pleasant service through out our stay. Facilities are beginning toi show some wear and tear but overall it is a very nice hotel.

great location and friendly staff. The room was clean. The breakfast was amazing and again the staff was very nice. Walking to downtown was a snap. Really enjoyed our time.

Staff was wonderful. Very assessable to downtown area. Close enough to walk back to hotel while shopping the downtown area.

A bit pricey for fridge that never got cold, lamp on desk didn't work; chair in room quite dirty; covered with a towel before sitting in it & top door latch screws coming loose which impaired security. Bed comfy; nice view of mountains and convenient walking location to everything downtown. Staff could speak a little clearer and maybe ensure pest control in restaurant; encountered two ants on the table during breakfast. Hotel too nicely decorated to have these issues.

Centered in the action of Asheville, this hotel is perfect for your visit. More importantly, their service is spectacular. I left my iPad with all my business info in my room, and they overnighted it to me at no charge. Well done!

The location of this hotel is perfect- can walk everywhere downtown, and also just a quick easy drive to get to Biltmore, Grove Park Inn, etc. The gym is a good size, the indoor pool is huge, warm, and sunny. Nice open air pavilion off the side of the hotel. Rooms were just ok, a little musty. Bathroom was VERY small.

The only problem we had was a pepsi bottle the maid forgot to take away. Other than that it was a nice hotel in a good location.
