3 nights centre of York.

Lovely stay right in the centre of beautiful York. Staff were extremely helpful, especially the receptionist and the young man(supervisor)in the dining room at breakfast, exceptional. Please let the staff know how good the all are. Hot cooked breakfast, plenty choice of cereals, fruit juice, tea/coffee, toast etc. Downside were the outside rooms, we were in 75, right at the back of the car park, facing the empty beer kegs, felt it was shoved out of the way, considering this was almost £500 for 3 nights, not up to Hilton standards, didn’t know until we got there we would not be staying in the main building. bath was extremely curved and hard to stand in for a shower - we felt it could be quite dangerous to get in and out of. Also pink mould at the bottom of the shower screen doors, needs cleaned thoroughly. First night toilet roll holder fell off the wall, tiny screw missing to keep it on, toilet roll cheap and nasty. Other issue we had, first night it was freezing in there, had to ask for heater as the heater in room didn’t work. Secondly, black mould right around the front door area, looked liked water had got in at some point and not been sealed around and cleaned. Rest of the room was spotless. This is surely basic maintenance and a job for a handyman. Not up to the same standards as 2 other Double Tree by Hilton. Needs better maintenance.

The Hotel was clean, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good and well organized. The mews room décor was tired and not very well lit. The toilet did not function properly, used glasses were left in the hallway for all of Sunday.

The service and staff were excellent, the breakfast restaurant very good and clean, great selection of food. The real let down was the room. It had a damp smell, carpets were grubby, headboard had stains all over it!! Bathroom had no lock on door and had blood under the sink. Do ask for a room that doesn't have pets if you have any allergies to animals. We weren't told this either. Room 41, was at the far of the hotel and after the lift you had to climb 2 flights of stairs. Luckily we were there just for a weekend around York so weren't in the room much. Expected more from Hilton hotels.

The only thing was the disabled toilet in the hotel lobby it was very small and needed a lot of work doing to it the door was nearly falling off and in my room there was mould on the ceiling that was off putting

From my room's window I had the most beautiful of York Minster! The train station is a short, flat walk away. York Minster is less than 5 mins away and The Shambles was less than 10 mins. The room was quite comfortable, the breakfast was very hearty. I will be staying here again!!

The room had some weird spill spots that hadn’t been cleaned and only a little bit of toilet paper. Not enough towels for a double room. Had to call down to get extra bedding and it took 5 phone calls over several hours to finally get them. However , the staff overall was pleasant and kind. And the beds and bathroom were clean. Great location! Beautiful view and atmosphere. Will likely stay again for location.

The room that was given to us was very small and few step up and down. Then we were given a disabled room which was big but it felt like the room had not been used recently. I saw spider web in the tub. The sleeping was awful as there was creeping noise from upstairs room. The door kept banging every time someone went in their rooms. My experience was not pleasant this time.

The hotel disappoints on arrival!

The hotel disappoints as soon as you arrive. No curb appeal- Hotel split into various buildings annexes. It is more like a motel. Parking limited & crammed. Given a family room in an Annex at back of hotel which was by the laundry facilities & bin disposal, room accessed by dark steep damp smelling staircase to loft room. ( nightmare if u have small kids & cases) Only velux windows so no view, cold room with useless heater which flashed all night , a thin, old carpet , some wall & bathroom lights not working, shower arm fell off in my hand when tried to use & water flooded on to bathroom floor from cubicle which had mold in the corner- whole room depressing & claustrophobic . I asked if any other room was available & was told by miserable staff ‘no we are full ‘. The breakfast area was not big enough for all the guests. Only 1 coffee machine which we had to queue for. On check out we were offered a refund on our parking (£25) which then created a dispute over the card we used to pay for this which did not correspond with their system. Literally want to forget I was ever there!
