Lovely stay

Our sray at the milner in york was one of our more memorable stays. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and not just the building but the staff themselves. Every single member of staff was extremely helpfull and friendly.

Apart from our room on the first night being totally unacceptable after that we had a wonderful stay. Expedia should make sure the rooms are duitable before passing to the customer. We had a disabled single room. Very sparsely furnished. No bedside table no decent hanging space poor lighting no dressing table no drawers a very dim window which didn’t open. The bathroom was unusable due to the disgusting smell. Fortunately the hotel moved us to a lovely new room with all facilities. I cannot praise them enough. They were all brilliant and understanding.

Sent an email to tell the management of my disappointment. Room was shocking. Tiny box room compared to what is shown on the website. I spent a lot of money to stay for two nights. Service was dreadful. I shall not be staying there again.

Location is perfect for those arriving by train, and easily walkable to the city center. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is lovely and has been renovated with an attention to detail. The elevator only goes to the 3rd floor, so walk up to floors 4 and 5, but staff was very clear about that. Would stay here again.

Imagine you've paid your surgeon to do an operation on your right leg and he will in fact perform surgery on your left one. I did not receive the room I have paid for and the hotel staff refused to offer the room I've paid for even if they've accepted full responsibility. It looks like common practice for this hotel to sell rooms located far away from main building (The infamous "sidings bedrooms") as rooms located in the main building. 1 in 2 guests will end up in a room located far away from the main building, a room full of mould, dirt, soiled furniture leaking pipes and smell of sewage. At a price of superior room located in the main building. Traumatising experience.

The main areas of the Milner Hotel, namely the garden room and Peachy’s are beautiful, clean and well maintained.The staff are excellent; very attentive, welcoming and helpful. The only area of great disappointment was the rooms. Having been moved room due to the cleanliness and cramped nature of the first room, I was disappointed that the second room was not much better. Even though it was larger, faults were numerous. Beds that rolled away, pillows with no padding, window that wouldn’t stay shut, room safe that didn't work and shower that didn't drain properly to name some. Having paid for a superior room, i would have expected a far higher standard, especially for the price.
