A wonderful hotel - the junior suite was beautiful with an amazing view of the Minster. The shower was amazing. Even little details like the local products in the Tuck Box, the coffee bags were so good Im going to buy some now. Would 100% recommend.

This is an absolutely gorgeous hotel in York, located conveniently within walking distance of the Shambles and many restaurants. The decor is stunning, reception was very friendly, and the restaurants were also wonderful. We would highly recommend staying here.

A deep clean required urgently in the Sidings.

Stayed in accessibile room in The Sidings. Room stank when we arrived (bathroom smelt of very sweaty feet; room of general funk). Staff returned to re-clean but we still needed to leave both windows open for all 3 days we were there. Knew we were in an accessible room - no others available - but having stayed in this hotel on multiple previous occasions did not expect any of the issues we found. The room's poor condition and the size of the bed (standard double - which moved when leant against) was a huge disappointment. It is in the process of being redecorated in the main building so can only hope that the extension will be next on the list. In the meantime bringing in a carpet cleaning company would help. In an attempt to find out the source of the smell, I cleaned various surfaces in the rooms and on the final evening when cleaning the rim of the toilet was disgusted with the result. Sadly I think it will be a while before I return to the Royal York (now known as the Milner).

Beautiful hotel ad well located for York and the station. The restaurant in the evening and the bar next door were very poor though. It was expensive, the service was poor and they knew nothing about the food that was on the menu. They then added 12.5% service charge which I asked them to remove.

Hotel has easy access to the city centre and ideal location. The hotel was nice around the reception & hall area. We had a deluxe room, which was starting to get ready for a refurb. Windows were rotten in plalces and the shower trap had a bad smell when the water had drained. The bed was not comfy and i wouldnt have wanted to stay in that bed for a third night. The restaurante does not cater for vegetarians very well, and the breakfast was fairly basic. Dont get me wrong, we did enjoy our stay & will return again, it just needs some TLC to the rooms and mattresses & we will give a better rating.
