Hotel on arrival nice and clean .bedroom was good size though lighting poor both in room and bathroom. Decoration wasn't great and floor badly marked it wasn't particularly clean either sadly. I used the shower most of the water ended on floor next to toilet . The TV after channels 1 to 4 constantly lost signal For the price I paid for one night I would expect far better. A real disappointment for me and my son .
I stayed at this hotel very recently and was very impressed! The hotel is in a superb location for visiting the city and especially York Minster which is only two minutes walk away. Staff were all very helpful, friendly and attentive, and I must mention Emily for always serving us with a smile! The food in the restaurant was excellent, and I can fully recommend the steak night (Saturday) special offer! Room was very spacious, with a large tv and excellent WiFi. The hotel has extremely limited parking (like the rest of the hotels in York), but there is a public car park very close by so it is not an issue. Great hotel, great location and excellent staff!
We were offered an outside accommodation, only 30 yards from the main building. We felt it was not clean, informed staff at reception and requested a room in the main building. This was much better and we enjoyed our time in the hotel.
Had a few days in York with my husband, sister and brother-in-law. We were not disappointed. The Hotel staff were friendly and approachable, particularly the Reception staff. The Hotel was friendly and spacious and both our rooms were lovely with extremely comfortable beds. We had a Junior Suite & King Deluxe rooms which included a welcome pack and bath robes/slippers. The breakfasts were lovely with plenty of choice and staff were extremely helpful. Plenty of spacious seating areas with comfortable sofas and chairs in which to relax and enjoy a chat and a drink. The Hotel was situated a couple of minutes outside York’s town centre with virtually immediate access to York’s main attractions plus the restaurants, shops and coffee houses. We all had a lovely time and would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel.
Stayed here for one night as part of a weekend away. The location is very central for The Shambles and York Minster. There is a council carpark 5 mins walk away and reasonably priced for York. Our room was in one of the annexes which would have been a pain if it was wet or cold. The room was clean but extremely small!!
We had a private room with bar for 22 people for a Late Sunday Lunch. The food was plentiful and delicious and the staff were attentive. We chose our menu beforehand so they knew what to cook. The puddings were too big to finish and the cheeseboard was very good.
First and last time I stay at this hotel, well not in Room 61. I have stayed at a number of Double Tree hotels recently - London, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool, so this is the smallest double bed I have slept in. Plus Room 61 is the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Also it looks as though they have changed the toilet seat, however they have fitted the wrong size, as this one is too small. On the positive side great air conditioning unit in the room. Finally ordered poached eggs for breakfast at 6.49am and they took 20 minutes to arrive, after chasing twice and only 3 other people in the restaurant
Great hotel Really nice staff. Excellent location. Rooms really nice and decent amount of amenities in there. On site parking is limited but car park about 3 mins away. Good breakfast Would recommend and will definitely stay again
We stayed at the Doubletree for 2 nights, 17th -19th September. The hotel is ideally situated for visiting York, being within a stone's throw of the city walls, and a short walk to York minster. We found the hotel to be lovely and relaxed, and the staff were friendly, especially the evening bar staff (sorry, can't remember names). We ate in the restaurant one of the nights and food and service were good. Breakfast was also very tasty. We managed to navigate the one way system and found the hotel first time, very good driving instructions. Car park next to the hotel, next to a very convenient Sainsbury's, at £13 a night, cheaper than most hotels. Would definitely return.
Location was perfect. We stayed in a suite which was situated behind the main hotel (room 54). However it was very noisy due to no sound proofing. We also had to pay for off-site parking when many others did not. We will not be staying again.
