Booked 3 rooms for my family over graduation. Location was perfect and so were the rooms, they have done a fab job on the renovation and the atmosphere in the public areas are lovely, comforting and relaxing. The room has a large tv and touch screen air con/heater. Complimentary toothbrush and toothpaste can be ordered at the reception and a cookie is received on arrival (or an apple from the fruit bowl) which was a lovely touch. However a little bit of communication would have helped. You need to use your room key in the lift which isn’t mentioned on checkin. Breakfast is not included in the rate but on check in it is not mentioned, but the breakfast staff then sound surprised you haven’t booked it with reception?? Confusing... We also were not told anything about service times. My parents room had a problem with the hot tap (no water?) and the curtains had stoppers to keep them open. While my room had balcony doors but no key to open them... Overall a nice place to stay but kind of glad it was only for one night considering the price and service.
Good location and could be a nice hotel to stay in but on this occasion just to many issues with parking, cold bedrooms rooms and restaurant, food choice for dinner, poor customer service just not good enough as a Hilton hotel Not cheap
I chose this hotel mainly on its location next to Monk Bar and the city walls, but also because I've used the Doubletree brand before. It's always good quality, well designed, friendly and helpful staff, good wifi and spacious rooms with well equipped bathrooms. The York Monk Bar Doubletree kept up these standards.
Location is brilliant, when we booked was Monkbar Best Western. Was told on the day we were going in one of the ‘new’ rooms, very exited we were led to our room 78. At first we was well it’s new, clean but we couldn’t both walk about the room at the same time! We kept bumping into each other. 😕 was very cold even though we had a heater. I thought the air was very dry. Left the request on the door for our bed to be made, dry towels, tea top up, got back to room around 04-30pm and door hanger had gone but no request had been done, my husband went to reception and spoke to Carlos who said he’d get some tea sent over. 😊 lovely you may think, an hour later no tea arrived and we just wanted a cuppa, in our room with no window, cold and could only walk around one at a time! My husband went back to reception and some arrived 10 minutes later. The damp towels we just put up with. Some time later a knock on the door and we were asked if we wanted the room cleaned etc, I was in my pjs and a cardigan but didn’t fancy the run to reception to wait to have the room cleaned, we will return to York. NOT to Double tree Hilton. The Dean Court. We stayed there last year and had a fabulous relaxing time a beautiful room for the price we paid for the Hutch. Very Very disappointing hotel experience.
Stayed 10th and 11th November 2017 The works to transform the hotel to the the Double Tree were still going on in parts which you may expect however the towel rail and radiator had been disconnected in favour of a new AC unit which as situated behind long curtains and a settee in the bedroom. The upshot of all this was no heat in bathroom and when we enquirerd we were told the boilers had been disconnected. The AC unit had to be left on for long periods but was quite noisy to get the room up to a reasonable temperature.
I am organising a reunion meeting in July for 30 plus people. Dan Edwards, the Sales and Events Coordinator has been very helpful and efficient and I'm sure the event will go well. The car parking worked well in the adjacent underground car park and the hotel is very well place for York's many attractions.
I booked for my Mum and I to stay on the 5th November for her birthday and Christmas shopping trip🎄. We where greeted by a friendly and helpful hostess who offered us a warm cookie 🍪 on check in which we both thought was brilliant! The hotel is beautifully decorated and the rooms was clean, well presented and very inviting. We stopped off at the hotel bar for a glass of bubbly 🥂 before heading out into the centre which is only a short distance from the hotel. After a huge meal we did not struggle to sleep in the extremely comfy beds and then was spoilt even further with the amazing breakfast the next morning. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends and family. To be truthful I cannot wait to visit again myself 😊
A modern hotel located nicely with just a short walk to the historical York. On arrival everything seemed smooth, parking (at cost) provided nearby, kind welcome at reception, smooth and nice check-in. We had a room right under the roof, comfortable beds, nice bath with a tub, but the room felt dark and perhaps a tad ’plain’. Normal equipment, but electric sockets rare as hens’ teeth! However, all clean and i good condition. The breakfast, however, wasn’t quite up to scratch. A very ordinary and dull buffet, all stuff was there, but had been sitting a bit too long under the hot lamps to feel fresh. All-in-all ok, but slightly overpriced. Best was the location, so if you are about to visit Ol’ York, Double Tree could be an alternative. Still, I might suggest you look andd shop around a bit for something s bit more kind of genuine. If, however just on business the Double Tree would most likely be a convenient choice.
This Hotel is in a good location, check in procedure was very good and the added touch of a warm cookie on arrival was very nice, the concierge was very helpful & the new coffee bar was very well presented. They are still decorating some areas & could do with mirrors next to plug sockets in rooms for hair dryers etc. But all in all the staff were very pleasant & helpful. Buffet breakfast was a little chaotic as fast as the food was put out it disappeared, due to the numbers who all seemed to arrive at the same time, but it's all a learning curve & hopefully will improve. Will stay here again.
The recent change of name from Best Western to Double Tree has obviously caused the staff to up their game. The rooms were clean and tidy and of a good standard. Some of the corridors to bedrooms could do with refreshing. Breakfast is good. I'm sure that as time goes by this will become a very popular Doubletree.
