The food was disappointing, and the room had visible mold. Despite bringing it to their attention, no action was taken to resolve the issue. I will not stay here again with my family.

Omg what is not to like. The grounds were beautiful. The rooms were beautiful. The buffet was so good. Tons of options. Shout out to Ruby for taking such good care of us. The italian restaurant had a good salad bar but the food was very mediocre.I had ravioli and they were a little too firm. The Spanish restaurant was also mediocre. I had the pig cheek and it was just okay. The Asian restaurant Yokohama was very good. I had the salmon and would recommend. The French restaurant Crystal was good too. The beef was melt in your mouth. The steakhouse was my absolute favorite. I had a ribeye and a carribean lobster. The lobster omg! The entertainment was hit and miss for me. The drink service was top notch and Arial made sure we wanted for nothing. I felt like royalty. They have a huge area but the shows and music are for 70 plus and little kids. Then the Riu party are is for 20-30. I only stayed about a half hour. Was feeling a bit creepy. I’m 48 and wanted something in between the two.They are really missing out in this demographic. The beach was beautiful. There are a lot of palm trees so you have your choice of sun or shade. They also bring you drinks on the beach! Again feeling like royalty. The water is clean and warm. The sand is soft and the lawn chairs are plentiful. The only downside, and there is nothing the resort can do about this, but the pushy vendors. The massage people just start touching you and won’t take no for an answer. Ugh.

Riu manager did NOT let my taxi driver on the property because the security guard and the driver got into an argument. I booked the taxi before I left the untied states. Riu chose not to let my driver on the property yet they did nothing to help my family and I get to the gate. I had to spend 50 dollars to get a taxi that was already on the property to give my family and I a ride to the airport. Riu manger did not care that I had a flight to catch. The manager actually said "that is not my problem" when I told her I had a flight to catch. The manger did not like any of my ideas. They had carts to take riu guest to the casino. I asked if we could get dropped off to the gate and the manager stated the carts are used in the afternoon and that the situation had nothing to do with her. I am paying money to stay at Riu. If I have a problem than its your problem too.

Great Vibe and Excellent Staff

Rooms felt spacious and were clean. Common areas too. We were able to find chairs at beach and the (multiple) pools. We did a sunset horseback riding tour (amazing), but other than that were entertained for our 3 full days and 4 nights at the resort. A small shopping lane with souvenir shops is available. The staff really was the highlight. Gracious, friendly, and very interested in making our stay great. They were always present when you needed something (not used to that in the US). Drinks were good and you rarely waited for someone to come by to ask if you wanted to refill - or pick another to try from the menu! I'd say the buffet area was always crowded. Restaraunts were worth doing as an option if you wanted that experience. Check the menus posted. One note- I did not realize you needed to turn in your key and pool cards to get a little ticket upon checkout. This is presented to the bell captain when your ride arrives. I'm used to leaving keys in room and taking off but that's not how it's done. Luckily this process didn't delay our departure to the airport.

Let me start off by saying my complaints are very minor compared to the wonderful stay we had. The property was gorgeous and the people were lovely. The food was okay, could be improved. And the checkout process was confusing, but I would still recommend it to everyone.

I love the location of the property and the variety of pools and beach. There was food most of the time however the menu was not very kids friendly except for fries. There were no chicken options. The food was good and most of the staff were very friendly to ensure guest feel welcome. The cleaning crew tries their best but the owners need to invest to make the rooms clean of bugs. I was expecting more for a 5 star hotel but was deceived by mosquitoes, roaches and other bugs in the rooms. Also for a kids friendly place there was no smoke free area. I found that some of the staff were not as kind to the local guests. I was served cold food at the a la carte restaurant and was asked to wait but non local looking people were allowed in quick and served properly. There were many activities but people had to do their own search for activities.Transportation not offered and shows were at other locations. No clear map of the property. I have to say that Antonio and Castillo were excellent servers at the Buffett breakfast & dinner. I spoke with some of the guys from reception who tried so hard to ensure that issues were resolved. Rene, Rismery, Daniel and David went above to assist with some issues. Although the place looks great on the pictures the facilities are not maintained properly and some things malfunction. The sink in my room was working only on one side. The sheets were dirty or stain and for a 5 star hotel I expected quality and cleanliness. Hotel is overpriced neglected.

Pros: The property wasn't overly massive. Many pool options. Good buffet. Friendly staff. Close proximity to the beach. Cons: It was missing a vibe. Yes, there are 4 off-site easily accessible themed party options, but it was missing the daily entertainment crew rounding people up for activities - whether aqua aerobics, dance lessons, or drinking games by the pool. It was missing the enthusiasm of the staff to get people excited about participating in activities.

The property grounds were very clean. The staff were friendly, nice and helpful. I didn’t like the fact that my safe would not open and this was on my bday when I was supposed to head down for dinner. The front desk kept saying 15 min it ended up being over 2 hrs they had me miss my bday celebration in the dining hall which was very disappointing because, that was the purpose of my trip. The rooms were a little dated and my room actually had a bad leak from the vent in the ceiling one day it was raining which also was my bday. The entertainment was good and the team was lots of fun. Overall, a good experience!! Shout out to Pacheko at the front desk and Biembo in the dining hall for such informative and fun conversations especially with me being a solo travel they made sure I was taken care of.

This place is AMAZING! My kids and I came here between Christmas and New year. The resort is huge. It’s so beautiful. There is a ton of staff and we never had to wait for anything ( drinks, food, room service, swimming activities etc.). I cannot compliment the staff enough. Everyone was so very friendly and helpful! The buffet was large and had so many options. They also have like 4 or 5 special dining restaurants that look amazing but we had only packed for “beach” activities and didn’t realize that we should have packed dress clothes, as these restaurants do have a dress code. I’ve been to a lot of places and place felt like we were in Paradise. I definitely recommend going to the scape adventure park where you spend the day zip lining and swimming in beautiful caves. Our transportation picked us up right from the hotel. This is definitely a place we will revisit!!

We loved the stay for the most part - the resort is beautiful and well maintained overall, the beach is gorgeous, many dining options with no restrictions or reservations necessary, which i really appreciated (the Italian restaurant was not great, but we enjoyed the food in the other ones).The weather was perfect too, and we were able to book some really fun excursions with reasonable pricing through the hotel destination services! A couple of things that were not so good - the rooms could definitely use some updating, the service is not super friendly or eager (except for bell boys and bartenders). Also, front desk never gave us clear info on anything we asked (mutiple people). And the tiny little bugs in the rooms were driving us insane - they were in everything. At first i freaked out thinking they were bed bugs - thank god no! I don't know what they were, but it's still unpleasant finding them everywhere in the room. Entertainment was ok, but nothing too interesting - it was mostly local singers (although pretty good ones!) On a good note - RIU parties did not disappoint, sooo much fun! I would say it's a decent resort, but for the money we paid - i've been to better ones for sure.

Food at the beach restaurant is horrible,sport bar food horrible,black meat nothing fresh and well done,people excellent,beach water is kind of cold,riu pacha disco is too hot,music is good and the drinks is limited,casino only one 5 dollars table of black jack,everyone losers,one roulette table,like 10 slot machines no good….
