We really enjoyed our stay. We celebrated my wife’s 55th birthday there. Our favorite staff members were Stivenson, who we first met at Spice(Interactive Entertainment Hiabachi) and at The Kitchen Table. He’s so attentive and basically knew what we wanted when we got there. He would have a special table for us and our beverage would be coming up as soon as we sat down. Robinson was a good waiter too there. Yari was our entertainment and beach/pool staff. She’s so friendly and so welcoming to us all the time. This was a great time for us. My wife said this was the best birthday so far. We enjoyed The Grill for dinner, Sports Bar was good too, Los Olas was good for beach and pool time. The drinks were the bomb. Our overall experience there was a 10/10. We recommend people to be looking for Stivenson &his bubbly personality. The towel art in the room was really cute. The room service was good, too. No real complaints. And the drinks were great!!!

We have stayed in Excellence resorts twice before (Punta Cana and Playa Mujeres). When we checked in to the Excellence El Carmen, we did have a few somewhat minor, but annoying issues: 1) No hand soap in the bathroom (they use bath gel near the sinks, but we didn’t have that either). 2) The table in the living area still had drink rings on it from a previous guest. 3) There was no “Do Not Disturb” sign in our room. Also, the hot/cold knobs in the bathroom were reversed, so turning the “cold” knob turned on the hot water. No major issues, but it felt like a lack of attention to detail that was surprising for an Excellence resort. The resort grounds were amazing and immaculate. Definitely made the stay feel like we were at a true luxury resort Dining was a bit of an issue. We had a group of five and we found we generally had to wait between 30-60mins for a table for most lunches and dinners. We managed it by getting on the waitlist before we were hungry, but seems like an issue that could be managed by opening another restaurant or having more staff/tables in the existing restaurants. Room service was terrible. We called for two items and were told it would take 30mins, but it took around 1hr 15mins to get the food. The Guest Experience staff, specifically Dilson, was great in recognizing the issues and making some special arrangements for us to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. His efforts definitely helped improve our experience and how we felt about our stay.

Had a very nice time, very clean and well taken care of. Pro’s: lots of food options, pools and grounds were pristine. Staff was super friendly. Con’s : staff did not oversee beach and pool chairs,people left there towel there and never came back. Making it had to get a chair, some signage, or attendant cleaning up would help. Guest picking up after themselves would fix everything. Would not hesitate to go back,I’m looking at other locations that offer the same star treatment.

The staff was incredible. We felt like royalty our entire visit. Definitely visit Joan at the Martini bar, most delicious cocktails! I would highly recommend this resort if you’re looking for a relaxing, romantic vacation.

El Carmen was the perfect couples resort. Comfortable spaces with wonderful food and drink, staff that were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and suites that were perfect for relaxing after a long day in the sun. We loved it!

Second time at this resort. Love it. Had VIP room and the turn down service stopped mid week lol whatever. Used to be a cheeseburger hut for lunch. It was closed. Don’t like a couple restaurants but most of them are fantastic. I’d go back again. Beach, pools and staff are excellent.

My sister and I stayed 7 night and 7 days at this resort. When we first arrived, they didn’t have proof of our booking and weren’t very nice to us about it. We pulled up the booking on our end and they then took us inside and printed off room cards for us, and told us to sit and wait for our bell boy to take us to our room. We waited 30 minutes before a staff member came back to us and asked us what we were waiting on. He informed us our bell boy had left us already and we needed to find the way to our room, which was fine. We experienced the same thing leaving, where the bell boy said he would pick our luggage up at 9:30 am for us. We stopped in our room at 9:40 for a final walk through and nothing had been picked up so we took our luggage up ourselves which again wasn’t a big deal but it is advertised and we were told they were going to do something they didn’t. The house keeper did not clean our room daily. Our floors were dirty after the first day because we went on a buggy tour and she never cleaned the floors. I also cut myself and got blood in the bed, and we left for a day trip and when we came back that night our bed had been made and when I pulled back the blankets the bloody sheets were still on the bed. One afternoon, we were napping on the patio, the housekeeper came out on the patio to grab the trash and I woke up. She said hi to me and I said hi back and laid back down. After about an hour I decided to go in, and I went to the door and she had locked us out.

We had a swim up room and my adult kids had a regular room. They are both identical except for the swim up part. Both were very nice. This was my second time staying at the same resort. A few restaurants I did Not enjoy, but overall, food is excellent. We had VIP and the turn down service completely stopped half way through, but whatever. I’m easy going. I love This resort and I’ll go back again. Everyone is friendly.
