The hotel is good, but a la carte restaurants are terrible!!!

Mother's day trip for my fiance hotel is beautiful and rooms are excellent. Food was ok...they cater everyone beach and pools are amazing worth the money. Mixes adult and teens

Just came back from a weeks vacation with my partner and it was very nice.. clean hotel very nice friendly staff even nicer if you help out with a dollar or two tip.. beach is literally right there and very clean.. there are a few buffets the main one is huge with plenty of different options but food is good not great.. alsways some sort of entertainment going on at the beach or pool or theater at night. It's hard to be bored there because there is so much to do beach , pool, trapeze, rock climbing wall, night club, casino, theater, restaurants, pool, ping pong, spa, etc ! It's a great hotel for the price I stayed and payed a few dollars more for the ocean view room and it was sooo worth the money.. only down side is that they have people there everyday in the lobby from a time share trying to get u to go see it or venders for souvenirs or something else but if your not interested just say no and they stop.

I showed up later on thinking it would be quiet and easy to just check in and relax. I waited over an hour to get checked in. Many others were in line complaining about the same thing or about how their rooms were dirty, broken or something else unpleasant. It was really hard to add someone to my room (had friends decide to stay with me) - we ended up paying cash for them to stay the night (didn't give us a receipt or change it in the system) and when we tried to leave the next morning for the airport we had to pay again b/c they didn't record it in the system and didn't believe us - even though we all had wristbands and key cards. Management was never available and no one seemed to be able to make any decisions on their own.

I would give this hotel five stars, but unfortunately the management is horrible or I should say there is no management what so ever. It's sad that such a beautiful hotel with a wonderful beach is managed so poorly. Reception area and the food buffet - a total chaos!!! The employees act like they don't care about their guests or they have no idea what they are doing. If you ask for a service, you will think they are making an effort to help you, but the next minute they disappear or will tell you to wait 10 min and I've learn that 10 DR minutes are actually 2h, at best! All in all I enjoy my vacation, however one needs a lot of understanding and patience to deal with this poor management!!!

1. Check In - this hotel was bad from the beginning. The front desk is the face of the hotel. They are the first people guest interact with so they should be welcoming and nice...not here! Guy was rude and didn't even make eye contact. Made us show him our passports to "verify identity" but also made copies of them...super sketchy!! Didn't explain anything about the layout of restaurants and amenities. Didn't even tell us where our room was. 2. Food - was ok but not the greatest. Service was awful. Don't expect to get a refill on drink or have them take away a finished plate from your table. At one restaurant we waited 1 hr before getting our food. Not even a packed restaurant. 3. Housekeeping - they don't change the sheets when asked. Folded up our dirty towels instead of replacing them with new ones even though we asked. 4. Casino - casino advertises $5 credit and free wifi to get you in the door. What they don't tell you is that half the slots are broken and the wifi is slower than dial-up. And that's after you spend 10 minutes trying to get it to connect. 5. Wifi costs $12/day! What kind of hotel doesn't have free wifi?! At least in the lobby?! 6. Beach was nice and on the hotel so that's a plus.

We just returned from staying at Occidental Caribe. Upon check in, the line was not organized and was very long. We were given a room with two double beds when our reservation was for a king size bed. We were told this was only a "request" and that they will let us change rooms the following day. We changed rooms, received a beautiful ocean view BUT it was above the buffet and from 6:00 am-11:00 pm the room was extremely noisy with the sounds of dishes banging and people chatting from the buffet area. The service in the buffet and restaurants is poor. Unless you leave a tip for someone and request their area, you basically don't get service. The "tip included" actually doesn't apply because people are tipping everywhere you go on the resort. The only restaurant worth trying is the Japanese. The others are terrible and the service is awful. Guest services was not helpful. No one gave you times or dress codes of any restaurants, figure it out on your own. The buffet had some good food but after a few days it's all the same it feels like. The hot chocolate and oats in the morning are DELICIOUS though!! The aquatic center on the beach isn't helpful either. You had to figure what activities they offered or see what others were doing. We tried to take kayaks out several days and they wouldn't let us due to "weather". Nice sunny day with very mild waves. They did however offer catamarans with a guide for free which was AWESOME! Just make sure to bring a tip for better service.

Lots to do. You really don't need to leave the hotel. Food is ok. Rooms aren't anything special, but get the job done. Staff isn't super friendly, but I think that might be cultural. Great beach area. Good place to meet others.

Our 11th AI trip and the RD is gorgeous but the hotel needs some work. Facilities and rooms were fine. Check in was delayed 4 hours from 3pm guaranteed check in to near 7pm. They did offer free WiFi to make up for the delay but only offered it on one of the two rooms we had booked. Lines at check in desk were short staffed which led to the lengthy waits. Also bath towels and beach towels were very scarce. Often could not get a fresh towel each day. Ok for us for a day or two but we went 3 days between fresh beach towels. Mini bar in room to be refreshed daily per sign but only replenished once during our week stay after I had made 4 requests. My only request was Diet Coke and they did not bring it. The staff are warm and friendly and worked hard to make us comfortable with the limited resources.

Went with the family and had a great time. There were lots of activities.

Pros: Beachfront hotel lived up to the name, was very nice and right off the beach. All the bars were good, and the drinks were pretty decent. Food buffet was good, and so were the la carte restaurants. Cons: Service was horrendous, we had to call multiple times for basic things such as enough towels for the 4 people we had staying with us, and also for anything else we requested. We called about 3 times, went to the front desk 2 times, and still nothing. We actually got the right number of towels on the last day of our stay, which is horrible. The room was alright, not too bad. Sometimes the sheets were dirty, and the shower was always clogged, the water drained very slowly. The toilet sometimes didn't flush as well, and that took a couple of attempts to get right. All in all, wouldn't stay here again. The worst part is, they would tell us the stuff we requested was coming, and it never did. When we would call and ask where it was, they would act as though we had never requested it.

We just got back yesterday and had wonderful time at Occidental Caribe. Highly recommended!

The food was not very good. We stayed 5 nights in February. Most days we got our own drinks at the buffet because you couldn't get a server to help. We called for clean towels daily and had to call multiple times to get them. We had the same problem with getting our mini bar stocked. I would not recommend this resort and won't be staying there again.

Hi stayed 7 days the cleaning lady I believe stole my nike shirt but after explaining I wouldn't be satisfied with a bs excuse I got 4 times the value in hotel shirts and bottles. When an excursion was cut short 10 min got a bottle of rum worth 40$ overall not to bad, the lobsters were great to in the dining by the beach!!

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I booked very last minute as I fly stand by. We (5 of us) we comfortable in a suite with 2 bathrooms. It was a good deal also. There was a lot for my kids (13,15,18) to do. The beach is kept nice as is the pool. The grounds are spotless. The staff is awesome and the restaurants were great. At least the ones we made it to. I would definitely go back!

Fue maravillosa e inolvidable. Desde que se llega al hotel hasta que se despide, la atención es de primera calidad. Lo majestuoso de las instalaciones, los shows, la diversidad de restaurantes, los tragos, el servicio de 24 horas, las programaciones de atención para ir a los restaurantes, una coordinación de primera. Por otra parte, la tienda propia del hotel, tiene unos precios increíbles para comprar lo que se necesite, sin necesidad de salir del hotel. Hay mesas de pool, de tenis, de ping pon, las discoteca es increíble y la música que se programa es de lo mejor. Nunca había sentido una arena tan suave. Al frente de la playa hay una hilera de palmeras increíble, por lo que te permite dormir a la sombra sí así se quiere. Por otra parte, los juegos de playa son constantes y el precio de los juegos acuáticos es muy accesible. Se tiene demarcado el mar para que no se nade más allá, además de que hay un salvavidas permanente en la playa y otros dos en las piscinas. Para los niños se cuenta con su propia piscina, club de niños, juegos de escalar, de trapecio y todo con la mayor seguridad del personal que los cuida. El hotel cuenta con casino propio y te dan brazaletes que representan cortesías en dinero para que asistir y así probar la suerte. Los horarios en que se sirven los alimentos está muy bien distribuidos. Se cuenta con servicio médico las 24 horas del día. Se denota que la seguridad del hotel es muy seria. En fin, se agradece...

The food and alcohol beverages are not good cuality.

The food was not good. Drinks were good but the quality of alcohol was disappointing. Customer service was not very good either. We paid for king beds with ocean view. When we first checked in the gentleman told us to come back first thing in the morning and they would move us. Then when I went back the next day around 7:30 am the lady told me they would move king beds into our room. Ok?? So when we got back to the room they had moved the two double beds together and covered with a king sheet. Reservations at the restaurants fill up REALLY fast and the buffet is terrible. The location is great. Loved the beach and the pool. We also got massages and they were amazing!

very nice vacation

nice building, nice people.. chaos in action

nice hotel, close to the beach.
