Upon arrival they did not have a room available for us. We were transferred to Principle Bahia for the first evening. We were compensated with an upgraded room, access to the sister property excellence and a $200 resort credit upon our return the next day. Not a great way to start.. Especially when the room wasn't ready at 9:30 the next morning as promised by Jom the previous evening. Randy the front desk clerk was very helpful by advocating for us to get into the room quickly since our son was sick from the something he ate at the other resort. The upgraded room was truly, upgraded and the $200 resort credit was used for 2 hours worth of massages so they did follow through on what they had promised. Excellence was defiantly a step up from the Colonial. The resort was in overall good repair we had no issues with our room. The resort is small by Punta Cana standards, no shuttle required but it was a 1/3 mile walk each for coffee in the morning unless you wait until 9:30 when the beach restaurant opened. Drinks were readily available. Food was decent excellence restaurants were better than the Colonial. Snack bar was located far away from the beach room 1/2 mile walk. The beach volleyball court was hit or miss. They take it down every night and sometimes choose not to put it back up. Beech chairs were abundant and comfortable

5th time here. Just keeps getting better and better. Rooms, beach, facilities , staff and restaurants all are great.

Beautiful clean beach. Excellent pools. Somewhat lacking in amenities that can be found at other larger nearby resorts. Very clean. Great staff. Our only complaints were first, that the food could have been a little better. It all looked appetizing, but it often didn't taste nearly as good as it looked. Second, there were a lot of vendors soliciting you to buy services and trinkets. They were sometimes too aggressive, which forced my wife and I to be rude to escape them, thereby making us uncomfortable. But overall, we very much enjoyed our time there, and would certainly return. At the same time, it was not so amazing as to cause us to leave open the option of going elsewhere the next time we vacation in the Dominican.

We enjoyed our stay, we will be going back in the future!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Majestic Colonial for 5 nights. The check in process was unlike any check in I’ve ever experienced. We went to the counter but because we had booked the colonial club they took us to the separate check in area. The told us to have a seat at the desk but the girl behind it didn’t say hello, greet us or anything. Finally someone came to take our passports and brought us a paper to fill in. No one ever confirmed our room type, length of stay or anything. Finally someone said come with me and it was our butler. He took us and 2 other couples to our rooms and told us about the resort. The butler was just ok, the first day he booked us a reservation at the Japanese restaurant but we didn’t see him the rest of our stay. Not a huge deal. The food was great, a large variety at the buffet. We ate at the seafood restaurant, the rodeo grill, le gourmet, and both the supreme buffet and beach buffet. All were very good. I think the rodeo grill would have to have been my favourite but no complaints from any. We spent most of our time at the colonial club pool bar. Marcos the bartender made our trip great and kept our glasses full. I’d recommend the bar he is at for sure! Check out was also a bit rough we had to be perisitent to get the spa credit that came with our booking. I’d go back but only because of the awesome staff, the check in/out bothered me though especially with the spa credit issue.

Hotel con muy buenas instalaciones, frente al mar. El servicio de comidas es completo, abundante y variado, aunque las preparaciones dejan bastante que desear. Con los mismos ingredientes y un mejor trato de los mismos, se pueden obtener muchisimo mejor resultado. El personal es amable y siempre dispuesto, aunque en mi opinión, les falta experiencia y "oficio" para un servicio de mas calidad.

This resort has the largest pool of any resort that I have stayed. There were issues with the construction that was ongoing in the hotel. The construction was in the hotel rooms. The staff works hard to provide for the guests. The choice of restaurants needs improvement.

Front desk STAFF RANDY when we checked in tried to scam us of $250 US. He claimed the manager gave that rate for an upgrade when when inquired about upgrades for newly weds on their honeymoons. When we disagreed he then said give us our best offer and came back with an $80 offer a room upgrade. I found that to be strange however he kept going to the back and came back saying the manager said it is okay. He then took us to another lounge beside the checking counter and offer us champagne and a drink and then proceed to ask for payment. He wanted cash, which was odd. He insisted for cash but I gave him my credit card he then came back and claimed it was declined. He gave a story maybe it was foreign credit card. This was impossible since I just used my credit card previously. He then came back saying the manager said it was free but wanted a tip. At this point i was visibly upset and our checking was delayed by over 45 minutes with this rouse. I gave him $20 for this to be over. I was applaud at this behavior, it was definitely a scam going on by checking staff to get more money from guest. I reported to many people in the Colonial club lounge, assign butler and Orbitz representative at the resort and no actions were taken. I will never ever stay at this resort again because clearly everyone is on the scam to get money from guest. The hotel should do something about those unscrupulous staff because I am sure that we were not the only ones being scammed.

We spent 7 days at the resort and stayed in the Colonial Club section, swim up room (3135), with David as our butler. The room, the grounds, the pools, and the staff receive a 4.8, sadly the food gets about a 2.5. Most of it had no flavor and was overcooked most of the time. We enjoyed the week but probably would not return to this resort.

food was excellent and all facilities were very impressive. I think the price was very reasonable for all they offer. All inclusive really was all inclusive.

Let’s start with the good -The hotel is beautiful and well kept although the rooms had this moldy smell. -Most of the staff are very nice and helpful -breakfast is good at the supreme -Food isn’t great but there’s 6 restaurants I only liked breakfast time and the Japanese restaurant The bad -The food will make you sick me and my husband had bad stomach ache our entire stay. Every time we touch the food we had diarrhea and bad cramps. -The mini bar was empty the entire 4 days we ask for someone to fill up the mini bar several times no one came we didn’t even have bottle waters -you must put a sign for housekeeping to clean the room otherwise they won’t even attempt to clean it -The pool closes at 6pm everyday whether you in the family side or adult side which makes no sense -We had NO REMOTE for the T.V we ask for a remote or someone to look at the tv 5 times no one ever show up while talking to other guests we found out they’re tv don’t work either -Don’t leave nothing out like passports, tablets, phones anything variable because they will get stolen from your room and the hotel will say they not responsible which is ridiculous we had to work around with our things the whole time -The activities are expensive and not worth it -Don’t use your credit cards you will be scammed -Unless you order shots the drinks are watered down -If you don’t tip the staff will catch an attitude immediately -Most don’t speak English

I visited this Resort twice over 2 years. They are consistent with good service, helpful employees, and overall cleanliness. While we were there, there were renovations going on in our room. We don't get super fussy about that stuff and BARELY spent time in our room, but it could be inconvenient to some people. The food is good- I'm gluten free and was able to find options! We didn't have a problem with theft, but I would recommend keeping all valuables in the room safe. There's really not a need to leave the resort, but in case you want to book some adventures, there are reps in the lobby who are extremely helpful!

Awesome hotel, awesome room, very big and spacious room, with large king size bed, jacuzzi in room, swim up room, entertainment daily and nightly was great, food was awesome lots of choice and they cook some of your meals right infront of you, lots of high end liqour, like patron, crown royal, Johnny walker, foam parties on different days was fun, beach is beautiful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tip them they deserve it, they always smile and helpful.

We were upgraded to the elegance side as soon as we got there. Totally unexpected. We a fantastic time. Great beach and pool. Room was nice. A few quirks with some light switches and the indoor jacuzzi but it wasn’t a deal breaker. Overall great time and experience. We would definitely go back there for another vacation.

Pros: the resort is beautiful! Extremely clean (there is always someone cleaning). Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. Food was Great! Yes there was stuff I didn't like but ummm don't eat it and get something else... Bar tenders everywhere were quick to serve and drinks were very good! Rooms are large and beds very comfortable! Cons: check in took way to long, Wi-Fi is not great Tips: bring large insulated covered cup (they are happy to fill it) If traveling adult only, upgrade to club section.

Overall I would go again but the hotel should not have opened until January. Every day there was Work being done the walk ways were blocked they were fixing rooms and beds were being put in rooms daily. I had a ton of issues upon check in such as broke tv, phone not working, wrong size bed but they were fixed within a hour by David and Arellia. I wish the Breakfast had more meat options only pork was offered. Other then the things listed above I can’t wait to go back I will bring my children next time as well.

Had a wonderful time staying at this resort. Could have spent the entire trip at the pool, which is MASSIVE! Would (and have) definitely recommend(ed) this hotel to friends!

We stayed there only 2 days of seven because ac problems in two rooms and the entire hotel started to do renovations while our family was there. The staff and Joel (manager of service made us transfer to the Mirage. They did the best to make us happy in the Mirage (new hotel). The colonial staff is very friendly and warm that we walk every day to visit their restaurants. There are no words to describe the staff. From 1 to 10 I give them 20. Yes the hotel needs renovations. My experience in the Mirage was good too. Helena,the manager is very professional and friendly and gave us 2 rooms one beside the other one for our 2 families. What I do not like about this hotel is that is too modern to my taste (decorations, paint and trees are not fully grown of course is a new hotel). The rooms are the best, double ac systems, Jacuzzi, and a huge balcony. We went to the Elegance and we liked the design,and how is decorated it better. The theater is the best. I think overall my experience was great despite the problems we faced the first two days. What made a difference was how well I was treated. They treat you like a family and not like a customer. What a difference!!. If I have to describe the Colonial (oldest one) I would said that they are the best in terms how to treat the people (family friendly. The Elegance is the most beautiful of three (landscaping, paint and decorations) I do not include rooms because we have not slept there. Pool tiles needs maintenance.

This hotel was a dream vacation for our honeymoon! The food options were great and delicious, the entertainment was amazing, and the facilities and beach were stunning! Everything was taken care of and we were just there to enjoy- I cannot wait to go again and will definitely recommend this place to all our family and friends

checking staff tried to scam us!!! guest beware!!

resort that's good for a fun & relaxing stay
