The front desk “manager” (Gisela Ventura) wanted to scam us and charge us a different price than what was quoted on the phone. Also took 90 min to get our rooms so we couldn’t start our day till 5 pm . There are no activities during the day or entertainment. The food was absolutely disgusting and took over 2 hours to come out (at the specialty restaurants) to the point where we would leave hungry and go to the buffet to find something else to eat. You might also want to order room service, don’t even try it. It is NOT free (I don’t understand how) barely any options and also took 3 hours to come and tasted terrible. Asking for drinks is also a struggle, have to ask 3 or 4 times before they bring you a drink (even water or soda). Overall, the property is nice and clean and rooms are ok. But in terms or food and service, they were horrible. None even speaks any English so it’s impossible to communicate what you want. They just give you whatever they want and you just get tired of trying so you let it go. Do NOT RECOMMEND.
The beaches and pool area were awesome. The drinks were stiff and not watered down. However, the food was terrible. Several friends and myself enjoyed 3 days of stomach-flu. Food was undercooked, soggy, and other stuff looked like it has been sitting out over night. They only provide one bottle of water to your room, the rest is questionable water from a jug.
We did enjoy the beach, but we did not receive “premium” enjoyment. Our hotel room door was broken, construction was going on early morning hours in the next room, and my husband unfortunately left his wallet in the safe and when we called they said “it wasn’t there.” Pretty crappy way to end our trip. Send his wallet back! You can’t use it! We’ll pay for shipping. Jesus.

Barcelo Bavaro resort is layed out along the beach and wherever your room is you are not far from the ocean. The beach is beautiful with white sand and farly clear water. No rocks in the water. Barcelo Bavaro Beach is more layed back and quiet while Palace is vibrant with life, music and activities.

I thought the whole experience was ok overall. What i didn't like was the food, the fact that they dont put face rags in the rooms, you have to ask for them but they dont tell you that, quite a few things was broke in my room that needed to be fixed, and the toilet did not flush properly. The pools, swim up bars, the activities, the casino, & the live shows was all great although i wished they left the pools open a little longer for the adults. Im not rushing to go back but eventually i think i would.

*BEWARE OF FOOD* The food will make you feel weak because you’ll go days without wanting to eat it. You can tell it’s not fresh even if you go as soon as they open the buffets even the reservations type restaurants have the same level of food. I would never come back knowing the food was the worst thing ever. Not seasoned, cooked with no love!

Air conditioning stopped working and I spent a night and a whole day without it. It was impossible to sleep without air conditioner. The staff was ok but not enthusiastic. The food was not so good.
