The initial contact person was encountered via a phone confirmation and advisement that I would arrive after mid-night. The manager was rude and admonished I should make up my mind about when I would arrive. Upon arrival at 3:00 am, I was informed that on site parking was $ 8.00/day and $100.00 deposit was required. This information wasn't in my itinerary. When requesting a TV remote, toilet paper, and clean towels, I was required to pick up these items in the lobby, ALL THREE TIMES. The staff at the Shillo were polite and friendly with the EXCEPTION of the manager who answered my initial phone call.

This wasn't a bad place to stay for a few days if you are on a tight budget. However, there was no conditioner, breakfast was super minimal (and I wonder how old), black mold in our bathroom, and the shower only got to lukewarm. Check-in isn't until 4:00, too, though they worked with us so we could check in earlier. Overall, not a bad stay if you remember that you're getting a cheap hotel.

Front desk people did not greet me or give me any info. There were 2 people and 1 just sat there while 1 did all the checking in and the lobby was full. I was not told where my room was, or if there was a breakfast. No greeting, no thank you. Then i was told our 2nd car would be extra. When i asked why it doesnt state that on the web site she just shrugged her shoulders. Here is the fishy thing, they would only accept cash for the 2nd car. This Shilo looks very run down. The rooms have furniture that have scarring, missing paint, are baned up. We moved our nightstand to find a pkug in and behind there was filthy. The carpet is very stained. I do like the size of the room and that there was a coffee maker, microwave and fridge.

Basic hotel room, nothing fancy but clean and comfortable. Great for a quick place to stay close to the airport for an early flight

The staff was friendly and helpful,I will stay there again.

SKEEZY is the only word that comes to mind when I think of our stay here last night. Okay, NASTY is another. The young woman at reception was fine, however within seconds of our checking in (even though we put on the online reservation that we had a dog) someone calls our room and asks if we have a dog, we said yes (and that we mentioned it on our reservation) and she tells us there's going to be a $17 charge for a pet - something NOT disclosed by Orbitz. Don't treat us like you 'caught' us. We get to the room and it is INSANELY SMALL - like, so small that if you want to close the bathroom door from the inside you have to stand on the side of the toilet (it's maybe 5'x5' including the shower/bath!), with mold on the bottom edge of the shower. The walls are paper thin (husband could hear the man above us snoring and farting all night), the TV remote was disgusting, and the pillows were terrible, and hell if you're going to charge $17 extra for us to stay there for less than 24 hours (we literally only slept there though because it was so claustrophobic and as good hotel guests we kept our dog in the car while at dinner), at least provide a dog dish and blanket for her! But the nastiest had to be the dilapidated icky furniture, with the multiple stains all over the chair. It was sooooo gross in there we literally showered before we left, and then canceled our upcoming reservation there and are forking out $50 extra to stay at the Monaco (where pets are welcome- and free!).

Good location, nice rooms, great staff. They were so nice and it was needed - we had booked another place (not them!) that was disgusting and we were in need of replacement late night. The Shilo team was so gracious and made us forget about the other nasty place!

A great value in Portland. Comfortable rooms and consistent experience. A nice price point not expensive nor slummy motel, nice staff and always clean and safe with ample parking. Stayed here a few times and will return

Clean, cheap and very courteous staff. Nothing extravagant but a nice place to stay.

Great place to sleep, bathroom was small. If I just need a place to sleep this was great

We spent 1 quick night there. Our room was clean and nice. The beds were very comfortable and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The only issue we had was that the breakfast room was small and so crowded, it was hard to get what we needed and we just took it back to our room. They were also out of yogurt. I would stay here again.

I definitely wasn't expecting this hotel to be this good! The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating. The only downfall to this room is the bathroom. It is very small and hard to get in and out. Other than that it was a good stay and definitely a bang for your buck!

Great location to sports games and restaurants. Property was decent for price.

Great location, near max and downtown. Super friendly helpful staff. Would certainly stay again.

The room was clean, the staff was great...but this is not exactly what I remembered or what I expected. We stayed in this hotel in 2006 and it seemed reasonably nice. This time, we thought we had upgraded' to a 2 Queen Suite...but it was basically a room with two queen beds...and a bench. The bathroom is so small you have to walk around the toilet and kind of straddle the toilet to close the door. Each queen bed had just 2 pillows..not nearly enough as they were pretty flat. The real downer tho was the breakfast...a few cups of instant oatmeal, some carb offerings ...but not a piece of fruit or a yogurt or a boiled egg in site. We paid 175.00 for this room with Tax..and it seemed like a lot for the amenities and the size. I would recommend it to someone who really wanted to stay in this area (and we did as we had an even less than a mile away) but I would definitely tell them to look for other places that might be just as basic for a better price.

This hotel has a very late check-in time, 4pm. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and gave me an early check-in, which was nice since I was on foot with my luggage having just flown in. There is food within walking distance, and it is walking distance to the Convention Center and Rose Quarter, though not the closest hotel option. For being a two-star hotel, I was pleasantly surprised when the gentleman at the front desk remembered my name the next day. I had a good stay at this hotel.

This has been my worst experience. I had an issue with the heater and told from desk, which was according to her fixed. The heater in my room kept going out , in which I had to call down again. By the end of the night I gave up and ended up sleeping with two layers of clothes. Also, my foundation that I left in the bathroom while I was out during the day was gone when I returned one night. I informed the front desk and they mentioned they would ask the cleaning staff if it was misplaced. I never heard from them and I searched but my foundation was gone!

This is a sweet and nice little hotel. And the location is really good, close to the public transportation: Buses, Maxx and Street cart. They even have a really nice 24hrs opened Sauna room.

Cool little sauna and big rooms. What more do you want?

Dear Guest, I am sorry that you did not have a good experience at the Shilo Inn Rose Garden, however I think you might have mistaken who the manager was as he was not present on night duty. We will take this information on board and speak to the front desk personnel. Many thanks
