Our first time ever at The Benson. Valet parking went fast and smooth. Check in was phenomenal. We mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary and car trouble we had earlier in the day causing a last minute car rental and Liza from the front desk surprised us by sending champagne up to our room! Such a wonderful surprise! Our room was lovely, a King Jr Suite and the bed was super comfy. The bathroom was a bit on small side but very clean and the shower was amazing with such nice toiletries. We ordered room service for breakfast, thinking it would take 30 minutes or so, and it was there within 15! It was hot and delicious. We visited the bar downstairs a couple of times and the bartenders were great fun. The hotel was nice but the customer service made it even better than we expected. Will definitely stay again.

No steps, great bathroom configuration. Spacious room.

The Benson is a great traditional hotel located downtown near many great restaurants and attractions. All are in walking distance. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed with a small but nice bathroom. Overall the hotel was great.

Best bed ever!! Never been more comfortable in a hotel bed!

Came to Portland for a wedding and our whole family stayed here. Hotel lobby is ornate. Love all the wood. Bar staff was excellent. Our room was on the 12th floor. Great size room and view. Didn't like the size of the bathroom though. Very small and impossible for more than one person in bathroom at a time. Standing shower and no tub. Bed was very comfortable. Very quiet too and great views! Loved opening up windows to hear sounds of the city. Parking with hotel is $40 a day. ( ridiculous ) We decided to selfpark in parking structure on next block for $22 a day. You can access hotel from inside parking garage. Bummer hotel had no pool or jacuzzi. Had a small gym. Elevators were very slow. Seemed like only one was working at a time. Didn't like that maids came in late afternoon.

We had a pleasant stay. The only "issues" I had was the bathroom was a bit on the small side, especially compared to the nice sized room. And the maid service came by later in the afternoon.

everything was fine we had no complaints, we liked especially that you could not use elevator to floors above to get to rooms, without inserting security card

The Benson is a nice hotel in a very good location for exploring downtown Portland. The rooms aren't huge but adequate. The whole place is a little stuffy and ornate for me, but it was a nice stay.

Great location, beautiful hotel. Friendly staff better than Hilton hotel.

The hotel is historic and beautiful. I was disappointed that there was scaffolding in front of hotel making it look lousy and difficult going around it to get to vehicles. And Pioneer Square were under remodel so that was disappointing. The hotel is excellent and the staff were all wonderful. They have piano music in the Palm Restaurant / bar and loved the music during dinner.

Staff was wonderful and very accommodating any time we needed anything. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Upon check in, we were surprised to see our window view was a brick wall from the building next door. On the upside, there were no windows in that wall, so no need to worry about onlookers. We could see a bit of downtown if we peered out the window and to the left. Overall, really disappointed in the view, especially for the price we paid for the room. There were a total of 3 guests in our room. There was enough space in our room for all three of us—unfortunately, the bathroom sink//vanity/mirror are in the same room with the shower/toilet. We did ok scheduling our bathroom time in order to get ready, but would have been nice to have a larger mirror above the desk to help streamline our efforts so one person could finish getting ready while another person showered, etc. I also wish there were more towel bars in the bathroom, especially since we tried to conserve our towel use. We needed to find creative ways to hang towels to dry. The housekeeper was very helpful when I asked her for a change of towels when I saw her in the hallway.

We had a great time, the receptionist was wonderful. This was probably the fastest check in, I have ever had in a hotel. The hotel was beautiful, the hotel reminds me of the move " The Shining" ( not in a haunted way), but in a very classic modern hotel. The best part of it all, it is walking distance to everything. That was plus, we didnt have to use our car. We will definitely stay here again.

Very nice hotel, excellent staff ! Nicely located in downtown Portland. Within walking distance to many attractions !

Great location. Wonderful place to stay. Staff very helpful. Would stay again.

Love the comfort and ambience of the Benson. Their staff is attentive and professional without being snooty. The in-hotel bar is cozy and well visited. Their rooms and amenities are comfortable and well appointed. Their beds are really great! They are currently undergoing some construction. My only complaints would be that their elevators are extremely slow, especially in the AM rush and that they could probably use some updated remotes for their TVs. Overall, great experience on a consistent basis.

I wouldn't use the coffee shop at the lobby. Otherwise, it is a good hotel. Not the greatest hotel I stayed before.

This was a staycation at a Penthouse suite because it was not much of a premium from the standard room.

The Benson is a great hotel. It's close to the Pearl district and most things downtown. It's an historic property with nice modern, remodeled/updated rooms, and the staff are top notch.

Good location, very comfortable bed -- the staff was terrific.

Excellent service. Tiny bathroom. This is a beautifully maintained old hotel with a great happy hour and wine tasting!
