Great location. Wonderful place to stay. Staff very helpful. Would stay again.

Love the comfort and ambience of the Benson. Their staff is attentive and professional without being snooty. The in-hotel bar is cozy and well visited. Their rooms and amenities are comfortable and well appointed. Their beds are really great! They are currently undergoing some construction. My only complaints would be that their elevators are extremely slow, especially in the AM rush and that they could probably use some updated remotes for their TVs. Overall, great experience on a consistent basis.

I wouldn't use the coffee shop at the lobby. Otherwise, it is a good hotel. Not the greatest hotel I stayed before.

This was a staycation at a Penthouse suite because it was not much of a premium from the standard room.

The Benson is a great hotel. It's close to the Pearl district and most things downtown. It's an historic property with nice modern, remodeled/updated rooms, and the staff are top notch.

Good location, very comfortable bed -- the staff was terrific.

Excellent service. Tiny bathroom. This is a beautifully maintained old hotel with a great happy hour and wine tasting!

Welcoming staff and very efficient service. The restaurant/bar staff was exceptional. The hotel has a beautiful interior and elegant lobby and restaurant area. Terrific extras like wine served in the evenings and coffee in the mornings. Centrally located downtown, with easy access to restaurants, bars, shopping, and public transportation.

Great. Grand older style hotel in heart of downtown.

I booked a two night stay at the Benson as an Orbitz VIP Platinum member. This hotel is over-priced, and you do not get what you pay for; I would NOT recommend this hotel. The Lobby is the nicest thing about this hotel. Our room was dated (room 930), and paint was peeling off our baseboards. The carpet is old and dirty, and the elevators are very slow. I booked this hotel because the Benson promises Orbitz Platinum members VIP status, which includes room upgrades, if available, and free breakfast. We did not receive an upgrade at check-in (we called the hotel directly, and found that there were better rooms available, but we were not placed in one). We also asked about the free breakfast, and were denied once again. After calling Orbitz, Mae (the Orbitz rep) called the hotel to inquire. Mae was told that Linda (the reservation manager) handles these issues, but after many attempts, Linda could never be reached. Mae left a message for Linda, which was never returned. The next day, I called Orbitz again, and again, Orbitz again tried to reach Linda; Linda was again not available. Orbitz spoke with Ashley, at the front desk, and Ashley refused to honor any VIP amenity to us as a Platinum member. It was an exercise in futility. VIP issue aside, there are better hotels, at a less expensive price. We were very disappointed with this hotel, and would not recommend it to anyone.

This was our first time to stay at the Benson. It was a very nice hotel with friendly staff, classic decor and comfortable furnishings. The room was small, but clean, and had a nice bathroom with a roomy shower. Unfortunately, we ended up with a view of the building next door; disappointing, but not a big deal since we were only there for one night. The lobby is lovely, and the location is excellent. We had a nice stay, but it was a bit overpriced for such a small room with no city view.

Great room in a perfect central location. Valet parking avoided aggravations with the car. Comfortable bed and coffee pot were appreciated.

I have stayed at this grand hotel many times, and we'll continue to do so. Luxury without pretense, and fantastic service. It's a "must".

We love staying at historic properties. Very disappointed in this stay. Bathrooms were minuscule (we aren't large people), no towel bars or places for toiletries...cramped! Couldn't even close the bathroom door without rolling up the bath mat! Portland is a filthy city...cig buts everywhere and homeless relieving themselves on the street at 2:30pm. I thought Portland was a green city! Yuck!

6:00am everyday loud banging outside.may of been construction noise. Talked to front desk they said there's a 7:00am ordinance for construction. Didn't help

The old world charm was a pleasure to experience, the staff was helpful and pleasant. A special shout out for Tom, the concierge. He was helpful and welcoming and exceeded expectations. I would definitely recommend The Benson!

Nice hotel in downtown. Near Powell City books and breweries in Pearl District. Quick walk to light rail line stops. King Room with very comfortable bed, spacious with nice chair and table for sitting by window. Also had a desk. Mini bar in room-would have been nice to have a space to keep leftovers but the fridge was full. Bathroom new and remodeled. Only minor complaint is when they put up backsplash for sink they covered 60% of the outlet-so no way any large plug (like you find on hair driers, straighteners etc) will work/fit. The staff was very helpful - used suggestions from concierge several times for lunches- and all the bell staff wonderful and polite. Wine tastings on Friday and Saturday evening a great way to just chill and hangout in beautiful lobby. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel, clean, but the staff didn't mention air conditioning not working when checked into hotel. had maintenance come to room and they weren't honest about situation but did give us fans and opened windows. $300 a night would expect more comfort for sleeping. Staff finally told us at check out air condition was out in hotel and trying to get it resolved.

We had a lovely stay at the Benson. The staff was approachable, helpful and fun. The location was perfect for walking to many delicious restaurants, the Portland Art Museum, etc.
