Red Lion Hotel Portland Airport

3.0 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

Old facility, needs painting and ceiling repairs from water damage. Key problems and we were located very far away from front desk. No consideration when requesting closer room on first floor due to medical conditions.

Nothing too special. A place to stay close to airport. Not much around the hotel. Shuttle to airport must be reserved in advance and available spots fill up during peak times.

We had to leave pretty quickly and the Red Lion was right where we needed a place to stay at a reasonable rate. The hotel was within walking distance of a few places to go but the staff did not mention the dinning place right next door.

It was ok place to stay for business. It nice to have a restaurant on site.

For some reason, I can't break out of the routine of staying here when flying into or out of PDX on late/early flights. Guess that's a good thing. At $145 for our last stay though, I'll look a little harder for alternatives next time. My opinion is that in the $110 range, it's a good deal. Consistently clean, good toiletries, comfortable beds and reliable airport shuttle make it my go-to hotel when coming through PDX (until they price it much higher).

The staff person who checked us in was uncommunicative and not friendly. She appeared to be frustrated with the magnetic key machine and stood and without explanation went through perhaps 20 key blanks as she was not able to make it function without success before finally using a different machine with success. Bizarre.

The hotel was average, nothing special. The staff failed to inform us that the pool heater has been broken for weeks and the water is extremely cold, especially on overcast days. In fact I asked about the pool at checkin (have kids, the heated pool was a major part of choosing this hotel) and the staff said it's great. Found out otherwise the next day when we tried it. Went to the restaurant in the hotel and even though there was only 2 tables occupied, the rest were still covered by dishes, food, and garbage from previous customers. We found the only clean table and sat at it waiting for service. After 5 minutes of seeeing no staff we peeked down the hall towards the kitchen. No one to be found. So we left. On our way through the hotel we found the staff standing near the front desk complaining about the air conditioner not working. Overall a terrible experience.

My seventh stay here in the last eight years. Always seems to be the best price with good value whenever I've had a late arrival or early departure at PDX. Room was comfortable, staff was friendly and the shuttle was very efficient. Tried the lounge this time about an hour before closing. It was only staffed by one person and was pretty busy but we got a decent meal at a fair price.

We only stayed here for about 8 hours after a super late flight. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good price. It is very loud started around 8am with all the airplane traffic.

We booked this hotel because it advertised free parking and we wanted to leave our car for a week. Found out upon arrival free parking does not mean park and fly. They charge a daily parking rate if you leave your car. Had we known that we would have just parked next door at Park and Ride lot and not have needed hotel room for 5 hours. The staff were not very courteous in there explanation of this and when they noticed our reservation was booked through Orbitz they got even ruder about it not being free parking. Made us feel like a low life for booking this way.

Overall, the room was not comfortable. The beds were weirdly positioned for anyone who wants to watch TV. The TV kept disconnecting. Parking was a nightmare as well. Only one section of the hotel lot was dedicated to overnight parking.

This hotel surprisingly exceeded my expectations, although just by a little bit. I'm glad I decided to stay near the airport because of the traffic in downtown. For an older facility, they kept this hotel very functional. The room we stayed in was relatively clean and did not smell, especially the bathroom. The water did not have issues and even the toiletries (charcoal soap). If anything, I would suggest that maybe they replace the bed and shampoo the carpet. Nonetheless, thank you for your warm accommodation!

Hotel was very accommodating when I did not make my flight. They let me get back into my room and sleep for a few hours until check out. Room was very clean and noise level was reasonable. I used the gym and they had a bunch of weights and equipment. Everything was in working order. Had coffee in my room, did not dine at the restaurant.

this is the quickie stop for getting on a plane or getting off a plane late at night. virtually zero amenities, unless you count running water and toilet paper

The people who worked here made the place, most definitely.

Comfortable, but did find a bug on my bed not sure if it was a bedbug

I paid for a room with premium bedding. I'd hate to see what the rooms without were like. Horrible bed and pillows, hairs on the sheets, not what I'd expect from a Red Lion. Looked more like a motel 6

Last minute close to airport. Great location and friendly service. Room conditions weren't quite up to par for a Red Lion. Stained sheets, carpet stains, floor dirty. But great otherwise

We decided to book a room last minute around 11:45pm. We arrived to the hotel within 10 minutes of booking. Unfortunately, the booking did not go through yet. So we decided to get something to eat and went back. Upon our second arrival, sometime after 1am, we see a supervisor sitting with the concierge in her pajamas. Apparently there was a system failure and the supervisor, Michelle, left her house during her time off to help with the situation. We were able to get our room and more thanks to Michelle. She went above and beyond for us. Our stay was comfortable and the staff was very pleasant.

the staff was all very friendly and helpful. The restraunt next door had good meals. Iliked the schuttle to the airport. Would stay there again if I was in that area I would stay there
