Went there to watch the eclipse-the hotel was full but never really felt crowded. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. It was conveniently located near light rail transit and major roadway and freeways. Rooms were clean and large. Even though our stay was only for 2 nights, its a place you can actually spend an extended trip at.

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times when in Portland. Full kitchens, convenient location, option to bring pets. Kids love pool and hot tub. Also breakfast. Good family hotel.

Nice hotel. Staff very friendly but not as informed about directions as I would have liked.

Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious. The new concept/lobby/lounge/kitchen was great. It was a pleasurable stay, and made my business travel so much easier.

Excellent location Excellent location Excellent location

Since it had 'Downtown' in the name, I assumed it was 'Downtown,' which is wasn't. It was at the very far end of the city. This being our first time to Portland, I wish we would've been forewarned. When we checked in, we asked for a room with a view of the city. The man working the front desk said we would have a great view. We had a view of a rooftop and a freeway. When I asked him what happened to the city view, he said, "Oh, I can never remember which rooms those are. I get turned around." And he never moved our room. I also asked him about vegetarian friendly restaurants and he said, "Ooo, yeah. I wouldn't know any of those." The hotel itself seems more like an old apartment rather than a nice hotel. The free breakfast was crowded and awful. I like the Marriott chain, just not this one.

I enjoyed my time at the RiverPlace location. There are some nice places along the river within walking distance, although a majority of the things to do in downtown are at least a mile hike. I feel like the other Marriott locations in the vicinity are a little closer to where the action is, so I might stay at one those next time, simply due to location. I have no complaints about the hotel itself. Traditional Marriott-style full breakfasts are always nice. The staff was all very helpful and friendly. The fitness center does actually have some weightlifting equipment in addition to cardio, which is always good.

Best stay i'v e had in ages! Keep up the good work!

Came to Portland for our son's wedding. Close to Washington Park where the wedding was held. Very nice and helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Very quiet. Don't know why there is a parking charge, but guess that's the way these days.

Friendly staff, clean room, breakfast included, minutes from downtown Portland. Parking, as with many big cities is expensive. $28 a night at the hotel. Luckily, we parked across the street for $7 a day.

We were in town for the half-marathon race, and to explore the city. Nice location adjacent to the river front. Portland streetcar stop is right across the street --incredibly convenient. Clean, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, good amenities, very helpful & friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again next trip!

This place is good. It's like a apartment. Staff was nice and friendly. Our room was clean. No noise complaint. Location was central to everything. We were less than 20 minutes to PDX (17 from what Siri claimed). We went to all 3 malls close by and they were all under 20 minutes away. Parking is $28/day if you want to park in their garage. Would definitely stay here again. Pets are allow too if you want to bring them.

The hotel has an odd smell. It's a bit depressing. It has a pool but is indoor. The breakfast is pretty okay. The staff is not very nice. The room has no ventilation so it feels stuffy unless you turn on the AC. The location is near the max but there are no restaurants in the area, all fast fast food. Overall, I think it is better to pay a bit more and stay somewhere nicer. There is also another option... Use airbnb.com and stay with the locals in a private room or even an apartment.

great place for long downtown stays, good local food a train away

The good: Good views of the waterfront (right there) at South Riverplace, and right on the Portland Trolley line. The bed was sumptuous and comfortable, and the suite was spacious. The environment was totally quiet on what could be a party night (we were required to sign a no parties disclosure). The fair: The concrete pillars and decks of the Marquam Bridge tower overhead to the South of the hotel, a bit of an eyesore, yet noise was not a problem and view was fine. Furnishings are rather plain and various wires were in evidence, but all were clean, comfortable and serviceable. The parking lot was at capacity at 2am on New Year's Day - the last space left was partly overlapped by a large truck that was over the line - good thing our car was a compact, and woe to whomever came in later. Note that the parking is a largish extra charge. The unknown: Did not try the WiFi or the breakfast bar. Other places I've stayed downtown Portland and my relative rating (+ better than this, = same as, - worse than this): Heathman Hotel++, Benson Hotel+, Downtown Marriott=, Waterfront Marriott=, Hotel 50=, Mark Spencer Hotel-, Convention Center Red Lion-, Jupiter Hotel--. Summary: nice location, easy access to transit, quiet, a little pricey, spacious and comfortable, would recommend and would stay here again.

Hotel is very neat; room was very clean; location is great; staff is very welcoming; exercise room is 24hrs; breakfast is good as well. value for the money for sure!

The hotel advertises being on riverwalk, but in fact overlooked industrial construction and Heating vents.Staff was very nice, but they washed the lobby floor between 4:00-6:00 p m so getting to elevators was precarious. They charged $25 per dog( we have two bichons) plus $25 parking fee, so my excellent online rate was augmented by additional $75! Room was great, spacious, nicely appointed

My only complaint and it was handled quickly, was a barking dog in the next room.

My family and I stayed over the Labor day weekend and had a very nice experience. The continental breakfast was the fantastic!!!

The staff was helpful in arranging transportation and giving us some good ideas about what to do in Portland. The Portland Street Car begins its route only steps away from the hotel, and we used it for free and easy trips into the city. At night we had a wonderful meal at Thirst, a local wine bar and restaurant a short walk away along the river. The breakfast staff was friendly and eager to please. Our room was large and comfortable with a full kitchen, comfy king sized bed , and nice sitting area. The pool and whirlpool were very nice, as was the gym.
