The Modern Honolulu

Came here to get away from it all and everything was great. It's near everything you want in Waikiki, but a little off the main drag so not super touristy. Improvements: I wish the pool bar closed later at night because The Study on weekends is not somewhere you want to be if you're not 22 and wasted. There should be somewhere chill where you can drink. The beds are not very comfortable, and there could be subtle upgrades to take care of the wear and tear of hotel guests: replacing chipped tiles, replacing stained lampshades. But overall, everything is great. I'd definitely come back.

So first trip to Hawaii so did lot research seem to be located in good area good reviews very clean and nice staff friendly but we had called months in advanced about should we book our tours before got there was told that "oh no you be fine nothing ever gets booked" sure enough tour wanted do which we specifically asked about was booked out for next 2 weeks also after are room was cleaned we came back changed before dinner came back to find my GoPro charge cord my iPhone charger and some of our clothes missing. Don't think ever be coming back other than that was ok

Lost a headset and never been found, hotel is modern not very close to the beach, about 10 min to shopping mall. For the price something else would be better.

Overall we had a good New Years experience but not the first night because they gave us a room over their nightclub. Around 11 pm we were awoken and kept awake by the loud vibrations from the club music. We were given a new room on the 14th floor, but had to pay higher rate, although given $100'hotel,credit. However, they mistakenly checked us out a day early so had to deal with that hassle. Pools don't gets much light until noon. Location is very good.

overall it was a good experiance . My openion is that it was rated much higher than it should on trip advisors

Room wasn't ready when i came in. Was told to wait and I would receive a call when room was ready. Never received call. Waited two hours for room.

Geared for the young. Nice hotel, but not sound-proofed (could hear so much from inside our room). Would not recommend if your looking to relax.

Great room - spacious, clean, comfy bed, plenty of coffee, fridge, great shower. Staff is excellent - extremely professional and willing to go out of their way for you. Plenty big terrace with comfy furniture with ocean view. Ate at hotel restaurant, Morimoto's- excellent but pricey. Stopped for drink and live entertainment in hotel lounge, The Study - very nice. One negative worth noting - in room constantly heard elevator going up and down its shaft (was in room 1021, second room away from elevator). Had trouble retrieving phone message from voicemail. otherwise, everything excellent and would stay here again but request room further from elevator.

I had a nice stay overall. The hotel is lovely except for the noise from the nightclub and the outragious food prices.

Comfortable, near beach area, good stay for any travelers

Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice pool and close to everything

Was great to come back home to after a day at the beach. Near the lagoon, which is best swim location for kids! Nicest staff we ever seen. No ramp for stroller, but valet guys help you bring it up. not the best beach view but the hotel makes up for it in other ways. 9.5/10. (Ps: I am reaaaallly picky and I travel a lot) First review I ever leave because these guys deserved it.

The hotel front desk service was excellent! When we arrived at the hotel at late night, we were served with towels and drinks right at the check-in place, felt so warm and welcomed. The location of the hotel is great and convenient to walk to the restaurants close by and the beach. Overall it was great! Only two things were surprise to me one was that parking was not free, the charge was $28 per day, and another was no coffee maker and refrigerator. You could ask for it, but in my case, refrigerator was run-out, and I got a water kettle for making hot tea. Every morning free coffee and hot water are provided, but ONLY in the morning, not other time. When we were there, the weather was not good, it was raining and windy, if you wanted to have some hot tea other than morning time, you got to have a water kettle.

We had a beautiful room and a great stay. Staff was friendly.Stay was nice except for last day. Valle staff misplaced FAB to car. Luckily they found it. They compensated us for their mistake by removing all the Valle charges. Enjoyed the hotel very nice. Noisy at times.

Great place for a getaway for a couple or family with older children.

Hotel was nice. Hotel Service was fine. Views outstanding. Pool service was terrible.

My husband and I stayed at the Modern for a week prior to our son's wedding and all the family coming in. We were incredibly relaxed. Our room overlooked the pools, walking distance to Waikiki beach and the mall. We absolutely love this hotel and plan to go back soon. They also have the best products in your room. Staff is wonderful and very happy to help you find your way around town.

Stayed here for 4 nights. Its a little further away from everything. The hotel staff is very friendly and nice.

The hotel isn't as close to Waikiki, but is a good distance to walk (considering all the good food you'll be eating there). The hotel room was very clean and I had a nice view of the dock area and a gorgeous view of the sunset. The pools available there are very quaint and cute and the service was very hospitable. I'd recommend coming here if you want to save a little bit of money and don't mind not being in the middle of downtown.

Great amenities and nice service room not ready waited in lobby for an hour, but nice when we got there. nice location and property
