Views are pretty decent from tower #1. The upgraded kitchens are nice for extended stays. Furniture is in need of upgrading. Some items are in poor condition or just uncomfortable. Beds are stiff and towels are rough! Staff is willing to accommodate requests but follow through to ensure continued satisfaction is non existent. Hotel overall cleanliness is poor. Hallways/doors all dirty with finger prints and smudging. Bathrooms need to be better cleaned (stained toilet bowls and urine on seat)! Have to pay for daily parking...$20/day.
Our expectations were higher than what we experienced. No free parking...$20 for 24 hours. If you plan to be here for 7 days expect $140 more if renting a vehicle. Elevators and hallways seem to have no ventilation and was always hot &stuffy. Walls /doors in hallways are a pastel lime green color and don't seem to be ever wiped down. We stayed on the top floor (37) and upon entry of room, there is nice tall ceilings which gave the room very open feel. Best part was upgraded kitchen with new range stove and various kitchen cookware items in cabinets. This worked well for us as we have 4 children to feed. There was a huge glass sliding door with an amazing view of diamond head and east side of Waikiki beach! The fold out couch seemed to be from the early 90s definitely need to upgrade furniture throughout. Bedroom is separated from main living space by sliding partitions. We had two queen beds with dressers at end of each bed making very minimal space for walkway. Bathrooms pretty small and can use detailed cleaning more often. Our bathroom door from inside had dried blood on it...gross! My mothers bathroom upon entry had a disgusting brown fluid in toilet that appeared to be diarrhea although no foul smell. It was stated that the room was cleaned and inspected and the fluid in toilet was left by a "New" maintenance man who dumped the rusty air conditioner drip pan in there and forgot to flush. Even after flush toilet still looked dirty! Beds stiff, pillows flat, towels ROUGH!
The checkin was smooth. They allowed to checkin 15 minutes before. There is minimart, which is useful. However the parking is an additional fee of 20$.
Hotel rooms are dated but comfortable. Staff was mostly pleasant. Had to negotiate with night staff at 3 a.m. to use the luggage cart for checkout. Lobby and common areas are very nice.
It was a small hotel. Two full bends and a sofa bed with a kitchen. Not bad at all.
Great location, excellent service , will stay again.
We booked this trip to celebrate the end of chemotherapy and cancer. First off, no complaints to the staff. They were friendly and understood that our room was not as it should have been. The room was outdated and most things in it were broken or dirty. The faucet would leak around the handles when it was turned on. The carpet had huge stains. Shower had mold in it. The bed was worn and felt more like a box spring than a mattress. The furniture was broken or worn out. Even the fridge was rusty. Staff told us they were working on updating the rooms. The one we were in was so bad that they moved us to another hotel. The other Aston hotel (the sunset) we were sent to was much better although the wall in the bathroom had dark hair stuck to it from someone blow drying and hair spraying. I will probably stay at the Hilton nearby next time because they have live music in the lobby every night.

If you're looking for a budget hotel with no amenities, this hotel would work. The furniture, carpet and all interiors are old and out dated. Sliding doors did not close completely. Bathroom door had a broken lock. The beds were uncomfortable. The pullout sofa and the roll away bed really uncomfortable. Pay a little extra and enjoy Waikiki.
Friendly front desk staff. Easy to check in. Easy and short walk to beach and restaurants. Clean kitchen, bathroom small and dirty. Black mold around tub and shower door and yellow stains running down the bathtub from previous guest. Dirty and sticky floors in bathroom and bedroom. Limited cooking pans. Terrible rollaway could not use. Slept in couch.
With a name like Aston you kind of expect the best and I certainly wasn't disappointed. It was only a one night stay due to a layover but, I was treated with the utmost courtesy and they even upgraded my room for free.
I had previously stayed at the Banyan a few years ago. However, this time our stay was very disappointing. The furniture in the room was very old and chipping away, the carpet was filty, there were no shower products in the restroom, nor is there sight of a laundry bag, room service knocked on our door at 8am, and we had random strangers knocking on our door and trying the card access at 3am!! The only reason why we picked banyan was because we just had our wedding reception at Marriott the night before and Marriott was sold out. We were charged $18 amenity fee per day and $20 for parking a day. All in all, we paid for the location. Will think twice about staying at Banyan in the future.

My wife and I recently stayed at the banyon. The room was decent basically a big hotel room. Nice big kitchen and dining breakfast bar. Staff was nice but not overly friendly. Not too much to the grounds the hotel was on. However the bed was comfortable and if you are looking for a cheap stay close to the beach this would be a good choice.
Customer services were really poor. When we made the reservation, we had no knowledge that we would have to pay for the amenities fees even though we will not be using. There were a misleading information from the hotel. I asked for a supervisor or manager and the reception told me that there was no managers on board at the moment due to the holiday. So basically their hotel was operating by their receptionist only. The receptionist and I argued for 3 hours and we were not going anyways. I flew 10 hours and argued for 3 hours and it was dark and my parties and I were hungry. We have no strengths to fight anymore so we decided to go with the flow and asked for a discount. The receptionist gave us two nights of amenities off. He said we would get fresh hot coffees and teas as an in room service. We do not get anything in room services at all.. they only bring us the stuff to made it ourselves. The receptionist also said that if we do not pay for the amenities now, we can't check in so we gave him our credit card and he did not charge us but only using our credit card as a hold. So when we checked out, a new receptionist said we still need to paid because we haven't paid yet. I got furious because the previous receptionist said we have to pay as we check in but it turned out he lied. This receptionist was deceiving his guests in order to get a hold of our credit card without telling us. Beside this crazy messes, we had a 10 dollar quaters roll along with some other quarters on the table. We forgot to putted the quarters in our purses when we got back to the hotel, all the loose quarters along with the roll of 10 dollar quarters were missing. We couldn't do our laundry so we have to go and get another roll of quarters. I called the front desk and told them about the situation, they just transfered me to housekeeping. The lady who picked up the phone didn't give me the maid name or her name. She just told me that she will have to call the maid but she know that the maid is innocent. We hung up and she called me back, told me that the maid didn't see anything nor took anything. So I hung up without arguing thinking a manager will contact me but nope! Do not ever stay at this hotel people. Theit services are poor, their staffs lies, no managers on board to assist when needed and do not leave any money around because they will steal it and they will not do anything about it! This is my first and laSt time with this hotel!!!!
Our room was nicely upgraded with very comfortable furniture and fixtures including a small dishwasher. Pleasant surprise as some rooms are showing their age. Outside repairs being performed on external patios were very noisy and made pool area less than comfortable. Should be done by May 2014.
Rooms need to be remodeled. Not satisfied with the hotel at all.
We asked to change rooms because we were not happy with the one we got. The staff was very helpful and did as we asked. They also had our bags moved to our new room while we were out. The reason we asked to change room is because of the beds. They were really uncomfortable. Our new room wasn't a whole lot better, but did the job for our week long stay. I would give this hotel a 5 star rating if the beds were more comfortable. What made our stay great was the STAFF, AWSOME!!!

First time staying in Waikiki and never staying here again. Beds were stiff as boards. Rooms were slightly more than outdated. Half the DVD rentals for the kids didn't work. The tv was small and the color was disfigured. At first our room Wasn't going to have the balcony available then waited 2 hours for the next room to be ready. The room was so small and uncomfortable that I checked into the hotel next door at the marriot for a night. Wish I would've done better research before spending my money here.
